mrpally:It will be interesting to know if you did any sort of due diligence on your contractor. The problem is not with Nairaland or its administrators but rather with you! As you make your bed.....(you know the rest) |

mrpally:This is a very scientific, multitasking build. Plastering and laying blocks all at once. Did you go through his other threads? Did you think you could change him or make a difference where others failed?...or perhaps there were part of your obligations that remain unfulfilled? Please let us get the full picture because this is puzzling to me. A sense of De ja Vu. |

mrpally:I am now more than puzzled. It is well enough to blame that serial charlatan called Eghosajhonny, but we must also scrutinize the building sponsor/owner. You were aware of bolded above (in your words) and you did not dismiss him at this stage? You continued giving him money expecting different outcomes? And you are here now on Nairaland looking for public sympathy and indulging in 'name and shame?" Well....you know where to put yourself now. |

kopell:Sir, if you truly read my comments, especially the 1st and concluding paragraphs, I never meant to castigate the owner; if that were the case, I won't tell him that I was sorry for his plight and also wish him a speedy completion of his project. The fact about life is that the truth will not always be what we want to hear/ or palatable to us. Truth is sometimes hard, but it always does us good in the long run if we listen and adhere to it. Some here don't like my comments because they aren't pleasing to hear, but the truth must be said. I for one prefer someone who will tell me facts than someone who'll take me for a ride. Anyways, you're entitled to your opinion. Regards.[/color] |

mrpally: Onuokwu:Gbam. Iam also more than puzzled myself. All these happened and the owner still went ahead to be giving money to the contractor. When the contractor was posting pics here, he did not complain. Iam now more than confused on what is actually going on. |

There's no way to critique this palava without looking as if one is blaming the victim. I can only watch and learn. |
| Re: Construction Of A 3bedroom Bungalow Somewhere In Ajah by mufutau55(m): 8:13pm On Jan 28, 2016 |
NL1960:As explained before... everyone deserves a second chance, at least in my book (it may not be for everyone) and at the beginning the project, it was going good.. Why complain? But when the going gets rotten, the victim has the right to complain. Just because the Victim is bringing his case out does not mean he is looking for pity. If the victim wanted to take a chance/risk, then why not? People do change, only that this guy (Eghosa) will not deserve a third chance. No need to blame or pity or symphatize the victim.. at least his misfortune will add to all the accusations on ground about Egosha and people can learn from it. Eghosa has proved himself to be unreliable, unprofessional and unworthy. So do business with him at your own risk. And remember what the Holy Book said: "If you don't forgive people, you shall not be forgiven". But it should not be a repetitive forgiveness. @EgunMogaji, remember three strikes and you are gone... but in this case there should not be third strikes, two strikes is enough. Hajji M. |

gabbytabby:I was not even aware of this. Then, third strikes and he is out. Thank you. Heh! Mama. Decking done... sorry for late feedback.. Will send you Whatsapp chat. I want my daughters to be like you when they grow up. Thanks. Hajji M. |

mufutau55:I don't dispute the bolded Oga mi. Now is the time for MrPally to forgive. Before now, he was in a position to exercise due caution but lagged in that. In any case i am a devoted adherent to that maxim "Caveat Emptor". |

Ultimately...."Cheap is Expensive"! Hunt for value always. |
| Re: Construction Of A 3bedroom Bungalow Somewhere In Ajah by NL1960: 10:08am On Jan 29, 2016 |
mufutau55:"On the first day to do set out on site you are not around, we could not do it because of lack of block rather you sent a borrowed engineer, on the new date we shifted it to, you are also not around and you sent another borrowed engineer again. As an engineer who in charge of the job, when is your attention most needed. The guy that did the set out has no detailed building plan, he used approximation and that is what resulted in breaking of toilet for expansion" Hajji, i know that everybody deserves a second chance. After being given the second chance and the above happened, it was enough to raise the red flag. That is my point of argument. I just got a new person to do my plumbing this month. The person that was doing it was giving me some stories which raise the red flags in my ear. When i went home for xmas, he came up with another story and said that i should give him an additional amount to do the work. I just sent him out of my house. |

EgunMogaji:Baba, I've met Olumide and during that meeting with him, we were able to come up with an understanding that will help us both. Just wait for the big announcement. There are 3 categories of services. Fast + Cheap can never be Good. Good + Fast can never be Cheap. Cheap + Good can never be Fast. Which category do you belong?

The irony of owing workers money and then collecting the same monies from the client is one that is very common with the quack so called builders on this forum. It reminds me of one time when a block seller came to my site complaining that brabus hasnt paid him, even thought i didnt buy block from that person. Can you imagine, that one na money miss road. In another case, wood seller said he will coe to remove my decking wood due to not beign paid by Bosun Shoyoye / Brabus, it was when I said to him that I will give them his home address, the guy wake up sharply and quickly paid them . Its just a shame that my Eghosa is not in Lagos. |

Just flip through d whole tread, it's a pity to see something like this happening. I understand what Mr Pally will be facing right now considering d fact that he needs the project completed as fast as possible. I already doubt the competence of Johnny from the start, when he was trying to prove his reason for not reinforcing the dpc. Now correcting for mistakes is more costlier than doing the right thing initially. I just hope Mr Pally have the financial strength to cover up the loopholes. |

Hmmmm, I had to move in like that because it took me two years to raise the money. I am now staying in an uncompleted building with my family. I pity those still defending him. I would appreciate if any client or those defending him to come forward and tell the house a single project he has completed. As per his service being cheap, it's not cheap at all. His quotation for carcass is within the range of others. It's only the finishing that differs and we agreed not to use luxury items. Anyway, I have learnt my lessons. |

mrpally:So sorry to read about your plight. Thank God I read this thread. This same guy desperately asked me to give him my building project 2 years ago, it was his desperation that deterred me. Also, he was far away from the location but was offering his services to that region. Now I am glad I never gave the job. Others have mentioned how desperate he was to secure jobs. One needs to be careful, and also the tact to separate enthusiasm from desperation . Remember it is not a crime not to use luxury items, but it will be if quality items were not used. The quality however, starts with the Engineer. If you get a quality engineer, you are already halfway there. |

mrpally:mrpally, I'm very sorry that you were swindled by Johnny. I missed this thread because I've not been interested in Nairaland property forum these days due to topics being derailed by minors every now and then. Johnny is probably the most clueless 'builder' I've ever come across. Gabbytabby was aware of his incompetence with my project in Mayfair Gardens Estate Lekki. I was clever enough to apply the strategy of damage limitation and quickly stopped him from causing irreparable damage and financial loss. I believe your accusation of him not answering his phone because his phone is always switched off or ringing without reply. Johnny and Brabus are birds of the same feather. Deal with them at your own risk and you'll never have a positive story to tell about them. |
