Save a husband's marriage by advising him maturely

MY wife I and have been married for five years now and we actually dated for six years. All this while I never hit her, no matter what happens, but I don’t know what came over me, I hit a few weeks ago and can’t forgive myself.

We were involved in a heated argument and though I had never seen her react the way she did, all of a sudden I lost my temper and slapped her in the face and used some terrific words against her; since then she has asked for some space. I would never hurt her, she is the best thing that ever happened to me and I love her and can’t live without her.

She said she has forgiven me but I can tell by the way she looks at me that she has lost some love for me. This hurts me the most. How can I make this up to her? I told her that this would never happen again, begging her not to leave me, that I was sorry and loved her with all my heart. She said she loves me and was not going to leave me but she needed some space.

Please I really need advice from anyone who has had a similar experience or anyone out there, who has an idea for me on how to make it up to her, or will our marriage be like this forever? I cannot bear this any longer.

You must have learned some lessons, she's your wife not your child and slapping her is not a way of correction. Everybody deserves a second chance but when she gives it to you don't mess with it ...

hahahaha i was once in dis situation and she needed space.....ur wife still loves u she just need to regain her mind due to dat shock.. thats women 4 u, they are easily hurt emmotionally. well 4 beta 4 worse they say,so marriage should not be smooth at all times.
Giv her some space sha, but make e no pass dat day oo then go pamper am well well and try and devote ur time to pleasin her dat week.
And asure her it wont happen again.

@op... I'm sure you've learnt your lesson well. give her time, she ll come around. In the main time, show her more love. Buy little gifts for her, always let her know how terrible you feel about what happened....

All these 21st century ladies thinking gender equality is applicable at home. A lady who argues with hubby till he's so not conscious of his acts needs a factory reset slap.

Dear OP,

I know you had no intention to hurt your wife and I also know she knows you had no intention of hurting her. We know how women are, some of them are quick to run their mouths and this makes us hit them most times.

I am happy you are ready to learn from your mistakes. Women are to be cared for and loved, hitting them is something we as men should never do no matter what the circumstances are.

I believe she is just shocked that you hit her for the first time in 5years and she is trying to come out from that shock. It's good to give her sometime, but you need to use this opportunity to step up your romantic game.

I would advise you to start doing things you haven't done in a while. Always come home with a treat and some gifts, send some love text messages while at work and always try to put a smile on her face. Trust me, she will definitely come out of it and apologize for provoking you to hit her.

You slapped your wife , why u no go slap man like you anytime una argue make them beat the hell out of you. What nagging mode? Didn't you see where the man said that he said terrible words to her too? But decided involve his physical strength...
I wonder how couples say terrible things to themselves though .. words spoken can't be taken back, would always linger...

You have done the damage already. It goes a long way to show u cnt control your anger. No matter what your wife does to you, u shouldnt lay your hands on her, instead just take a stroll or go outside or keep quiet:Thats why u a man. She will forever remember the slap and the love she had for will never be the same no matter how much you spend and the love you show, you have already created a dark spot.. Just being nice and caring to her and avoiding arguments will help reduce the hurt for the main time but it cant eliminate it. It
