Success story from Ministry of Agriculture

The Anambra State Ministry of Agriculture has successfully assisted some rural farmers export  pumpkin leaves (Ugu) and bitter leaves (Onugbu) into United Kingdom on the 21st Jan 2016. This was done in partnership with some offtake and logistic companies.

To achieve this, the  Federal Quarantine Agency visited Anambra severally to inspect and certify various farms to ensure they are fit for the purpose. The first set of participating farmers have been trained to produce vegetables of high quality without applying fertilizers and other chemicals. The vegetables are therefore classified as 100% organic.

This is only the beginning as plans are on top gear to increase vegetable production exponentially and make Anambra a top vegetable export state.

Keep embarrassing yoruba people. Other tribes and even foreigners who follow Nairaland are observing this pattern of gratuitous jealousy towards the Igbos.

This is what igbos should be doing, we ve a base in almost all the countries in the world, our people in those countries should be like branches importing, distributing and consuming goods made in Igbo land.

This is what Nigeria needs. Export everything exportable but I'd rather we add more value to our exports by processing. We'll make more money that way.

Good job Anambra.

My Brother, all those things will come in due time, with or without Government's assistance. You can not forever hold a ripe udara on the tree without it falling down.
Kudos to Anambra. I'm really proud of Anambra.
The good thing here also,is that other states like Ebonyi are beginning to open their eyes as well.

I feel deeply pained whenever I look through the shelves in the UK and most of the local foods (banga, poundo, egusi, vegetables, fruits etc) you find are imported from Ghana, Cameroon etc. I keep asking myself what Nigeria ever exports.
