Hello house,
In view of the recent ban on sourcing foreign exchange officially from Nigerian banks, does it by any means make Canada based sponsors a more ''suitable'' options?

Apparently it does in a way but that doesn't man that if ur sponsor is based in Nigeria like most of us u can't use them. That's why in my previous post on this issue, I illustrated that CBN compounded the problem. With the ban, it means that Nigerian based sponsors for people that want to study abroad now will have to get their foreign exchange from the parallel or black market which is more expensive.

GM everyone,

Re: Travelling To Canada Part 9 by hayqinsbFX: 10:04am On Feb 13, 2016
its only if the company has records of sponsoring their staff or if youre a director in that company does it sound reasonable.
Asides that.....u have a whole lot of explanation and convincing to do ......

you could let the owner or the person with the highest shre sponsor you then submit the company information

While I agree that many documents that Naija applicants use are junk, @justwise I have to disagree with you on the bolded. @HayqinsbFX is correct. The sponsor's capital assets show the VO that he/she is robust outside of his/her liquid funds. If the sponsor is a parent, then those capital assets in some way also show that the applicant "may" have something to come back home to if he/she isn't able to stay legally in Canada anymore.

Also, I think study leave letters in general are not a terrible idea, but most Naija applicants have made them terrible because many such docs are either faked or don't make sense (e.g. study leave for a job unrelated to the course of study, four-year study leaves, study-leave for a very low-paying job, etc) when included in the application. Study leave letters (and an accompanying letter from the company to the embassy) only make sense when the training the applicant is going for is being sponsored by the company and the applicant indeed will use the skills for a technical area sorely needed by the company.

Are you serious about the section in bold or just a mistake? How will your sponsor's assets/business act as your tie to Nigeria? Will you return back to Nigeria because your daddy has a land or a house? Are those source of income? Will your daddy or uncle sell his house, business or land just to send/keep you in Canada and left with nothing/homeless in Nigeria?

Hello Good people of Nairaland, thesoj, justwise, ganiuadeoye et al

I was denied based on Purpose of Visit ONLY. I suspect not including statement of purpose must have contributed to this. I'm 40. I have HND Accounting. I want to pursue a BSc degree in Business Administration. I also applied for TRV for my wife and 3 children so they could visit me in Canada whenever they are on vacation. I want to know whether I could use the medical I did while reapplying. Will I ask IOM Ikeja to send it to CIC or get a copy and include it in my documents when reapplying? I did paper application initially and still want to do paper application again. I didn't do upfront medical initially. I got a medical request via mail. I have written a detailed letter of purpose to be included in my application this time. Thanks for taking time to address my challenges. God bless you all.

Company registration paper, tax certificate, bank account and letter of introduction.

The company's ability to sponsor you will depend on a lot of factors...annual net income, number of employees and the cost of the sponsorship etc

Paid around #150/CAD in 2015 November with GTB but i think its now around #200 per CAD. That #240 is on the higher side. God bless Nigeria. Shalom!

I applied December 2014 and I was given admission in March 2015 as against May 2015. But I deferred to May 2016 to enable me build my account and apply for TRV

did you secure a supervisor before given admission? As for my case, my application is completed waiting on admission decision but I emailed some supervisor but never secured one. Never got any email to secure a supetvisor at all cost. However, I have another friend that applied also but got a mail before all required documents received that she need to contact a supervisor within four weeks unless her file will be closed, the deadlines don laps now.
what's your comment on this ?

My story of getting a supervisor.....

I mailed more than 30 professors in more than 5 schools. Got about 80% "we not fully compatible, all the best", about 19% " no reply" and Just one "ok but can't guarantee you admission". Securing a supervisor is more than Gulder Ultimate Search but still have to keep trying. Also think graduate administrator help sometimes when it comes to successfully securing one. Did your friend try that route? Think securing a supervisor for Thesis Based is key to funding and admission. Your friend can be a record breaker. However, have heard some schools reject 9ja first class because of " No available supervisor" e.g. MUN.

Caution: I use "think" because am not 100% sure. Shalom!

@justwise, thesoj and hayqxbf......you all are correct in your own aspect. Lots of people have benefitted in one way or the other from your posts. I believe the vo has their own views on this. Some applicants had used their sponsors assets as home ties and it worked for them while some got delayed but most importantly individual applicants needs to put up a strong, convincing application. I personally believe sponsors asset is not to prove the applicant's home ties rather it proves how financially buoyant the sponsor is. Also, for those using company's account for sponsorship, some vo believe the money in the coy account is solely for the coy bizness and not for personal purpose except if the applicant is a staff of the coy and the coy could prove they are sponsoring him for the coys benefits.
My thought though..... Over to the other gurus

MY DOCUMENTS
I'm self sponsored and self-employed and I submitted these documents:
Admission letter,
Personal SOA (5.7m)
Virgin International Passport,
Building Design printout (Jointly owned by my wife and I),
Birth certificate, Police Clearance certificate
HND Accounting (2004) Certificate, NYSC 2005 Certificate
ACCA Result Sheet (Showing I've passed 11/14 papers, In my opinion, there's no academic gap cos I still sat exam in Dec, 2015 and passed)
Company Registration Documents and evidence of Job done
Past Employment & promotion letter
Evidence of student's payment account of 5,950 CAD
Evidence of Hostel application fee, security and confirmation deposit

MY WIFE & KID'S DOCUMENTS
International Passport showing one UK travel history for her and 2 of the kids.
SOA (1.2m)
School certificates
Employment letter and introductory letter showing her total package and level at work
Introductory letter from the kid's school that they would go on vacation in April (We anticipated that I would have gone in January) and school fees receipt

Let me say again that I did paper application, was called for medical and the VO only ticked 'Purpose of Visit' ONLY as the basis for refusing both applications. Thanks for your assistance Justwise.
