National Open University of Nigeria(NOUN) is an accredited degree awarding institution. But what I don't know is that if the degree is well recognised by employers.

NOUN Degrees are fantastically acceptable anyway now. the varsity has been accredited by NUC. Employers of labour (MTN, ZENITH, ETISALAT, MOBIL etc) has it in their list of Schools when apply for their jobs. just finished my MBA with them. Transparent learning system. your success solely depends on you. you dont know the examiners, your grade is what you wrote. enough hard work. The only challenge they are presently having is with their law students with regards to acceptance into law school, which they are sorting out.

bro where do you hear this? No aorta of truth in what you said. Noun is recognized most in government work, some private establishments may have their own reservation.Yet I have a friend who works in IT firm with Noun certificate. The fact is, employers are crazy about what you have in stock to offer to the organization's growth.

You need to service your brain coz something is happening to it, don't you know that NOUN is the school most of the politicians attend, if you go there you will see top officers and it's well recognised and respectable institution.

@Jeffrejamez and @tosyn2much and whoever, I dunno y simple English is difficult for u to decipher. The op asked for opinions n i gave d scenario i have seen and wat a NOUN graduate told me she is experiencing as a bank contract staff, her CV wasnt sent for d entry level program wen her B.SC counterparts wer reason being dat she's a NOUN graduate, i neva said ders anytin wrong wt being a NOUN graduate, buh d harsh reality remains dat just as HND graduates are discriminated against, NOUN graduates are discriminated against too by some companies so beta stop living in denial, dat has neva prevented HND graduates from being d best in companies dat employ dem and gv dem opportunities, same goes for NOUN graduates, d fact dat u avnt experienced it doesnt mean it isnt happening, FYI, i av ntin against any graduate, I am not yet an employer of labour, hian!

........,.
U will def b termed a graduate but b informed dat it isnt equivalent to B.sc gotten from state or fed unis. I'm guessing dey dnt do NYSC either. Most private companies n multinationals av der reservationz just d same way dey av reservations abt HND graduates. For example dey cant b employed as B.Sc holders r employed for entry level positions in banks buh only as contracts. Buh if dats d option u av den go for it cos ull still b a graduate n ull still get a job. I happen to have spoken to have spoken to a NOUN graduate dat eorks as a contract staff in a bank, dats ow i got to know

You that can't even write the past tense of recognize. . . you're talking about a BSc. from a Federal University approved by the NUC. . . some idiots that can't even spell their names will come here and start criticizing degrees. . . how many of Nigeria's ex Presidents had first degrees?

Carry your OND and let someone carry a BSc. from NOUN and let's see who they'll consider first.

As for me, I still respect NOUN degrees than all those unbranded universities in Ghana and Benin Republic where people are flocking and spending millions in container classrooms!

Majority of NOUN graduates/students are the working class. Some are CEO, Managers and heads of institutions. (Noun VC said sometimes ago that he has Up to 5 VCs who happened to be his students- Law students I guess) As a graduate / Student of NOUN, there's no way you would reject your fellow alumni

If you are denied admission or employment on the basis that you graduated from NOUN, you have the right to sue such organization. since the university is accredited by NUC.

weitin u even write there self?

NOUN Is an alternative to closed University we have in the country, due to most exams/results fixing in our University today. U expect someone to sit at home for 10yrs because he or she have no connection to work his/her way into closed University? Ooooh

Just point one person wey don graduate from NOUN with first class (that's if there is anybody that has achieved such in the history of NOUN, or lemme say it's rare)

Result can't be manipulated in NOUN, what you write is what you get.

Any firm/company that choice not to employ federal government owned University, approved by the law shall be sue cheesy

This has been crossing my mind. There is need to know this so that the whole lot of young people running programmes with them don't end up wasting their time and hard earned resources.

Learn to read and understand b4 u comment...
He said NOUN graduates will only be considered for a contract position in a bank that requires Bsc for graduate trainee. Meaning, Bsc from NOUN is rated below BSC from other institutions.
