ChristStriker:point of correction, she did not gain admission, she paid for the admission.how can a university not conduct entrance exams for her perspective students?how can you just go and pay jamb registration fees and they give you admission?.Mediocrity of the highest order.when Noun starts to conduct entrance examination for her perspective students, then I would have respect for them.how can a suppossed open university be admitting children of 16,17 years old?.its a work and study plan for God's sake. Atleast there should be age barrier so that we would know that its for working class people who do not have the time to attend full campus lectures because of their work. A boy would finish secondary school, instead of him to sit down and read to gain admission, they jump into Noun without Any test to prove their intellectual ability. No wonder a lot of them drop out of the programme after failing their brains out and wasting money and time. 2 Likes 1 Share |

abayomi93: This post reminds me of the rift between ICAN and ANAN where the latter criticizes the former for allowing all-comers to the profession. Don't make access to education restrictive. Certain factors contribute to people subscribing to this mode of study, not just employment. We need to kill this 'you must suffer' mentality. 10 Likes 1 Share |

abayomi93: It is a trite statement that education is the greatest social leveller and that education is the most potent instrument for mental and social emancipation.Providing quality education to millions has been one of the struggle facing developing nations like Nigeria. The conventional classroom setting which has been in existence for a long time has gained some sort of loss of momentum and is slow in responding to the challenge of the exponential rise in population of those who have expressed interest in education and this why ODL should be embraced with both hands in Nigeria. You nag about Noun's failure to provide Entrance Exam for their prospective students but the entrance exam branded as Post UME by conventional universities has been eaten up by corruption and is solely done by the Management to fatten their bank accounts. Students pay to get their name on the admission list whereas Noun gives you admission without no greasing of the palm. There is nothing wrong if a 16 year old study's at Noun.If he can read, comprehend and interpret the study materials by himself, he will flourish. 4 Likes |

LionInZion: The old system was. Etranzact, the new system is remita. If it is etranzact then you will have to load the pin into ur wallet, if it is remita, you will pay at the bbank then retry the transaction from ur portal. Best advice: take the receipt to ur study centre of choice because they will screen ur credentials before yu get ur matric numba |

abayomi93: This is harsh. There is actually a screening process before admission is given. No exams yet but it is not just about making payments, you have to meet the criteria before being admitted. My younger sister's application was almost turned down until where crossed out Ts and botted our Is. 1 Like |

abayomi93:lol but what do you have to say about those foreign universities that give addimision to Nigerians without any entrance exam. Are they not serious as well? We need to find out the motive behind introduction of JAMB and check weither the exam is still relevant 5 Likes |

I have a BSc from a state university. I just concluded my MSc from a federal university few weeks ago. Both degrees in life science. My passion has always been writing and reporting events and almost everyone around me keep talking about how perfect(I know they only encourage me) my works are. I've written some unpublished books which still need professional touches. To cut my epistle short, I'd like to make enquiries about many things. 1. Would I get admitted for a PGD in Journalism/Mass Communication with my "science" WAEC result? I learnt National Institute of Journalism in Lagos admits any graduate into her PGD in Journalism. 2. How much is the tuition? I paid through my nose these past months and I'm so financially "broken". 3. The duration. How many months/years will the PGD take? 4. I've covered the whole pages and the comments therein are encouraging about the acceptability of NOUN's degrees. Is it true no physical lectures, assignments, tests and examinations? I still have a lot to ask people. Thanks in anticipation of your response(s). @kateskitty |
