Which Exchange Rate Will I Be Charged With When I Want To Pay Fees Abroad by chuksey1(op):
hi peeps

i want to know how much i will be charged per dollar of i want to pay school fees from Naija to a school abroad using funds in my Nigerian bank account via one of the following means - bank draft, funds transfer or paying online with my naira debit card.

the reason for this my question is that the CBN exchange rate of the USD to nigerian naira is 199.200 but the black market value is about 305 naira.

i wuld love to hear from nigerian students schooling abroad that have done this type of transaction recently..

I m not schooling abroad yet, but I m in d process! You will be charged the official CBN rate provided you are wiring the money via western union business solution.

But at the moment, paying school fees is difficult in Nigeria due to the problem with forex. I hv been trying to pay my fees since 4th of January to no avail.

If you use Form A, you'll be charged the official rate. Which is 199 per USD.

It allows you to pay your fees directly to your school account.
Just go to your bank and tell them you want to use form A. They'll request for:

Copy of your passport data page
Admission letter/Student ID
Invoice from your school portal

I think that should be all you need. Though it takes time, to get to your school. Max of 2 weeks most times I think.

I'm still expecting mine for over 2 weeks now, it's yet to get here. But hopefully during the week, so they said.

N.B: I listed what they asked my parents to present, but if you make further enquiries at the bank, you'll get all the information you need.

Hello,

Yes sure, it does. They'll use the official rate for the currency as long as youre using Form A.

My fee is in Canadian dollar, but I paid in US dollar using Form A. And one could also pay using Canadian dollar official exchange rate.
