TheSuperNerd:very crazy indeed, i tell u what Nigerian football would be a great reality tv show we might outrate the Kardashian's lol. The question now is where do we go from here? The NFF needs to pull a trick out their bags because this could spell doom. I just wonder out loud if Oliseh didn't chicken out because he feared what would happen if he lost to Egypt, or maybe he wants the NFF to beg him like they did Keshi. Speaking of Keshi At short notice he seems one of the best options. |

BascoVanVeli:IMO Amodu should come in as a care taker coach. Application should be thrown open to all coaches around the world (for sake of due process). However, Siasia may b given the advantage to b appointed as next Eagles coach after d Olympics in August. |

joseph1013: I am very sorry to say this, but I just have to say it. That Coach Sunday Oliseh has ruined his Coaching Career. No Club or Country worth its sort will engage him. The work of managing an entity is not just about the work but character and personality displayed generally by the manager. Oliseh has failed character wise. |

NFF is the cause of all the confusion surrounding the Super Eagles. Stephen Keshi was ready to serve, but they never allowed him to serve. The went ahead to engage Sunday Oliseh who at best was a talkative. Now see the result. Where do we go from here. |

Hot from Africa: Nigeria coach Oliseh resigns https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/02/Samm_5_Feb_2.jpg Oliseh has quit as Nigerias Coach by Samm Audu Sunday Oliseh has resigned as Nigeria coach after claiming everything is being done by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to sabotage him ahead of next month’s crucial AFCON qualifiers against Egypt. Nigeria host seven-time African champions and group leaders Egypt on March 25 in Kaduna before a reverse fixture days later in Egypt with only the group winners guaranteed automatic passage to the final tournament in Gabon in January 2017. A top official informed AfricanFootball.com: “Oliseh has resigned as Super Eagles coach after he did not enjoy the right support from the Nigeria Football Federation. “He complained that everything was being done for him to fail against Egypt so he could be made a scape goat. “His resignation letter was addressed to NFF president Amaju Pinnick and he copied principal officials like the general secretary and the two vice-presidents. “He also spoke on the phone with the sports minister.” He is owed four months’ salary and a promised accommodation in the nation’s capital of Abuja has yet to be redeemed. It was also understood that he was very unhappy over the dismissal of his personal assistant and former international Tijjani Babangida and he was equally not pleased with rumours that the NFF approached former Cote d’Ivoire coach Herve Renard to take over the Super Eagles. Renard has since been appointed coach of Morocco. Former Nigeria skipper Oliseh was appointed in July 2015 as the country’s coach in place of sacked Stephen Keshi. However, the relationship between he and the NFF has soured since Nigeria failed to go past the group stage of the recent African Nations Championship in Rwanda. Amid speculations over his future, Oliseh took to the social media platform YouTube to vent his frustration by attacking his critics who wanted him sacked, but he will later apologise. Nigerian sports minister Solomon Dalung waded into the crisis when he advised the NFF against sacking the coach. http://africanfootball.com/news/614464/Hot-from-Africa-Nigeria-coach-Oliseh-resigns |

Oliseh: I quit in interest of Nigeria https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/02/Samm_5_Feb_2.jpg Oliseh-Why I quit by Samm Audu Sunday Oliseh has said he quit as Nigeria coach in the interest of the country. The former Nigeria World Cup star sensationally turned in his resignation letter, which was addressed to general secretary of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Mohammed Sanusi, and dated February 25, 2016. “Your contractual violations and the interest of the nation necessitates that I tender my resignation and recourse to the termination of our working agreement,” the resignation letter read in part. A rented apartment in Abuja promised he and his two assistants after he was appointed in July 2015 has yet to be fulfilled. He is also owed four months’ salary, while his assistants are also being owed for several months. He further accused the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) of not giving him enough support to prepare the team for next month’s all-important AFCON qualifiers against seven-time champions and qualifying group leaders Egypt. He said he received “so little help” from the NFF and has been soldering on under “unconducive working conditions”. After his team failed to go past the group stage of the recent CHAN in Rwanda, Oliseh said they were not motivated enough to do so, he described the team as "a car driving on an empty tank". http://africanfootball.com/news/614471/Oliseh-I-quit-in-interest-of-Nigeria |

Herve Renard's agent told Oliseh of Nigeria interest - Babangida https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/02/Herve_Renard_CIV_v_Mali_CAN_580x473.jpg Herve Renard by Samm Audu Ex-Nigeria international Tijjani Babangida has revealed that it was Herve Renard’s agent who informed Sunday Oliseh his client has been contacted by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) in connection with the Eagles coaching post. “They were talking with Renard about him replacing Oliseh and it was his agent who told us,” said Babangida, who was the ex-Eagles coach special assistant. “The agent wondered what is wrong with the NFF, but he assured him Renard won’t be coming to Nigeria.” The former Ajax Amsterdam flying winger also gave more graphic details of Oliseh’s frustrations when he was in charge of the Eagles. “It was always going to end this way because he was disappointed his contract was violated and there were many problems at the CHAN and he was not supported,” he said. “He planned to go and watch an interesting striker (Fanendo) Adi in the United States of America, but they did not approve it, claiming there is not money. “They did not reply his emails and they kept insisting he attend the technical committee meeting in Abuja even when he had yet to compile his list of players for the Egypt matches. “It was like, If he did not show up, they will sack him again after they recommended for his sack at their first meeting.” Babangida said there was a more harmonious working relationship with former technical committee chairman Felix Anyansi-Agwu, but this changed for the worse when Chris Green was reappointed the committee’s boss last month. “Anyansi could speak with Oliseh, he was a gentleman. It was not the case with Green,” he stated. http://africanfootball.com/news/614478/-Oliseh-aware-Herve-Renard-rejected-Nigeria-official |

It was alleged that top NFF officials led by "all-powerful" technical committee chairman Chris Green and the president approached Frenchman Renard after the Super Eagles crashed out of the CHAN in Rwanda. “Oliseh was very much aware of this move and he knew all those who contacted Renard,” a top official disclosed only to AfricanFootball.com "These officials have good contacts with the coach. “But unfortunately for them, the French coach said he will not take up the job because he is afraid of Boko Haram (the terrorist organization which has killed over 17,000 people since 2009).” The coach has won the AFCON with Zambia (2012) and Cote d’Ivoire (2015). Renard then Zambia coach was also approached by the NFF soon after the 2010 AFCON in Angola to take over the Super Eagles. He will later sign a lucrative contract with oil-rich Angola. http://africanfootball.com/news/614478/-Oliseh-aware-Herve-Renard-rejected-Nigeria-official |

In an official statement, the NFF disclosed: “Contrary to claims by Oliseh that he was being owed wages and did not receive support from the NFF, top officials confirmed that he was this week paid the sum of N20 million, being salaries for three months (December 2015, January 2016 and February 2016) and half-year rent for July-December 2015. He was signed on July 2015. “The only money he is owed is the bonus for the World Cup qualifier against Swaziland in Port Harcourt in November 2015, which the NFF had promised to pay players and officials on resumption of camping for the matches against Egypt.” http://africanfootball.com/news/614662/We-have-paid-Oliseh-all-his-salaries-NFF |

Siasia, Amodu early front runners to replace Oliseh https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/02/Samm_6_Dec_1.jpg Nigeria U23 Coach Siasia-Will he return as Super Eagles Coach? by Samm Audu Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia and former Eagles coach Shuaibu Amodu are the early front runners to replace Sunday Oliseh after he quit as the country’s coach. It was specially gathered that when earlier this month the technical committee recommended for the dismissal of Oliseh,Siasia was picked as stop-gap coach for the Eagles. The committee led by Rivers State FA chairman Chris Green will meet today and one of their deliberations would be to recommend temporary successors to Oliseh. The experienced Amodu has severally handled the Eagles, qualifying Nigeria to the 2002 and 2014 World Cups, and he is currently the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director. Siasia posted a short stint as Eagles between 2010 and 2011. He was fired after he failed to qualify the country to the 2012 AFCON in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea. Emmanuel Amuneke, who has been promoted to the U20 national team after he led the Golden Eaglets to a fifth FIFA u17 World Cup in November, 2015, is a dark horse for the country’s top post. It is expected that Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf will stay on o be a link between the new bosses and the team Oliseh was trying to build before he threw in the towel. http://africanfootball.com/news/614497/Siasia-Amodu-early-front-runners-to-replace-Oliseh |

Siasia, Salisu Yusuf, Amuneke lead Eagles after Amodu rejects post https://africanfootball.com/bp_images/2016/02/Samm_6_Dec_1.jpg Nigeria U23 Coach Siasia- Back as Eagles Coach by Samm Audu Nigeria U23 coach Samson Siasia, Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf and U20 coach Emmanuel Amuneke will lead the Super Eagles for next month’s AFCON qualifiers against Egypt to be supervised by former Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu. This was after Amodu, who qualified Nigeria to two World Cups, in 2002 and 2014, rejected to lead the country again on health grounds. These appointments followed Thursday’s shock resignation of Sunday Oliseh. NFF technical committee chairman Chris Green announced the appointments, saying, “The new crew has the mandate to reach out to the very best Nigerian players anywhere. "The matches against Egypt would not be picnics and we need our very best for those contests.” It was further understood this is as a stop-gap arrangement before a foreign coach is named later this year. Siasia is staging a sensational comeback to the job he lost in 2011, when he was sacked after he failed to qualify Nigeria to the AFCON 2012. Siasia will be assisted by Yusuf, who also worked with him at the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup in Egypt. Former Kano Pillars and Enyimba coach Yusuf was assistant coach to both Stephen Keshi and Oliseh. Newly appointed U20 coach Amuneke will be the second assistant coach. “These are temporary appointments and they will be reviewed after the matches against Egypt with the coaches expected to revert to their primary assignments,” disclosed an official who attended the NFF technical committee meeting in Abuja on Friday. http://africanfootball.com/news/614645/Siasia-Salisu-Yusuf-Amuneke-lead-Eagles-after-Amodu-rejects-post |

Eagles not good as four years ago says ex-Eagles coach Oliseh https://mtnfootball.com/bp_images/2016/02/Samm_5_Feb_3.jpg Oliseh Seven-time African champions Egypt are beatable because they are not as good as they were four years ago, according to former Nigeria coach Sunday Oliseh. Oliseh quit as Eagles coach on Thursday after claiming several contractual breaches by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). Nigeria will welcome the Pharaohs to Kaduna on March 25 in the first leg of an AFCON qualifying double header. Oliseh quit a month to this all-important, but he has restated his belief Nigeria could triumph to get their AFCON qualifying campaign back on track. “Egypt are not as good as they were four years ago, we can beat them,” he maintained on a radio interview Saturday morning. He reserved his comments on the coaches who have been appointed to replace him ahead of the matches next month. “It doesn’t matter who is there, what matters is that Nigeria advance,” he said when asked about the Samson Siasia-led coaching crew named to lead the Eagles against Egypt. http://mtnfootball.com/news/614748/Eagles-not-good-as-four-years-ago-says-ex-Eagles-coach-Oliseh |

I'm certain Oliseh is wrong in making that statement. Exactly some FOUR YEARS AGO, we were not even at Afcon 2012 because we "Failed" to qualify and were still "rebuilding" under Keshi before 2013 came calling. Is that the team to which he's comparing this current team?? Na wa ooo...... #smiles A man of too many excuses is a man of failure. I'm sorry but that's a fact. terzurum5: |

Interesting Stat about Siasia as current Interim head coach of the Super Eagles (and primarily, Head Coach of Nigeria's U-23 Dream Team Eagles) ......................................................................................... Siasia has only lost once to African opposition in full 90 mins of football. -From his days as Flying Eagles Head coach from 2004-2005, -to his days as U-23 Dream Team Head Coach from 2007-2008 (lost out on the AAG via away goals rule), -to his days as Flying Eagles head coach to Egypt 2009 Fifa U-20 World cup (ladan bosso was in charge during that year's AYC), -to his days as Super Eagles head coach from 2010-2011 (the 0-1 loss to Guinea in the Afcon qualifiers had Eguavoen in charge before Siasia took over), -to his days as U-23 Dream Team Head Coach "AGAIN" from late 2014/early 2015 till today. His only loss to African opposition: AT THE 2015 AAG Men's U-23 football semi-finals. A 1-3 loss to Burkina faso. Question: Ahead of The Afcon double header, Could the Pharoahs be in for "Big trouble" coming up against a man/coach who seems to know how to get the better of African teams?? Could the legend of Amuneke as an ex-Zamalek star before he went on to excel in Europe for Sporting CP and FC Barcelona come back to haunt the Egyptians at this crucial time?? Well, time will tell. #smiles |

Flores welcomes Ighalo to Arsenal rumours https://mtnfootball.com/bp_images/2016/02/x3f7e6ztqanm1ufic48j1ezk0.jpg Watford striker Odion Ighalo Quique Sanchez Flores has welcomed rumours linking Odion Ighalo to Arsenal as proof of Watford's impressive performances this season. The 26-year-old has scored 15 goals in the Premier League this term to help fire his side to within just four points of the top six with 12 matches left to play. Manchester United and Arsenal have been subsequently linked with Ighalo, who also claimed to have turned down a big-money move to China - worth over £200,000 a week - before the start of the season. "He is one of the best strikers in the division so [speculation] is very normal," Flores said on Thursday. "It's good. "I love speculation for all the players in the squad. It means the performance of the team is good, every teams want players of Watford so we are doing something well and it's good news for our team." Watford have taken 36 points from their first 26 matches and can take a big step towards their pre-season goal of 40 when they take on AFC Bournemouth on Saturday. And Flores is eager to reach that mark as soon as possible in order to allow his players to play with less pressure, citing league leaders Leicester City as a prime example of the benefits of such positive morale. "We are really close," he said. "I would like to get to the objective as quick as possible. "Leicester is the example. They achieved 40 points and then they are freer on the pitch. They feel really, really positive and everything. This is ideal. We are really close." http://mtnfootball.com/news/614401/Flores-welcomes-Ighalo-to-Arsenal-rumours |

According to Ighalo as earlier interviewed, he seems to prefer Manchester United. I did love him to go to Arsenal where he will be fed with so many goal scoring chances. Arsenal love possession football with great killer passes. I think it will be a good move for Odion, if only he can prove himself. |

Yep... It's more like assembling a suicide squad of a crew. A crew called in to do close to the impossible: BEAT A TEAM THAT'S BEEN IN CAMPING FOR OVER TWO MONTHS AND HAVE PLAYED TWO FRIENDLIES SO FAR AND WILL PLAY ANOTHER AGAINST BURKINA FASO SOON. Well, like you said, "I don't know what to expect" but I stay optimistic. Truth is I still think Oliseh would have beaten the Egyptians had he stayed focused and shamed critics BUT NOPE!!! HE'S RAN OFF and given critics a chance to bite him off the more. terzurum5: |

Argument transfered from d U23 thread: Rabiu Ibrahim vs Omatsone Aluko, Who is more suitable to play behind Ighalo? Or which other player is more suitable for d "number 10" role? Cc: forgiveness, TheGoodJoe. Oga forgiveness, I dnt know whether u are still seeing Rabiu Ibrahim in d light of his U17 performance. That guy never lived up to his potentials. Successive coaches have given him d chance to exhibit his greatness. But he has always been average. I still dnt understand Oliseh's preference of Igboun over Aluko. Aluko to me is currently the best player dat can play behind Ighalo.Aluko has consistently had above average performances each time he plays for d Eagles. A South African friend onced asked me y Aluko has nt been playing for ur country. He remembers Aluko as d player dt scored 2 goals to earn Nigeria a 2-2 draw against South Africa in Uyo. I simply told him Oliseh's pyopic policy of nt fielding players hu are nt in top division. And he told me we are enemies of our own progress. Some may want to say Iheanacho or Iwobi. Yes we know these 2 are talented bt i cannot jst yet say they are fully prepared for the national team challenge till mayb after the Olympics experience. |

Icon4s:Rabiu Ibrahim for sure. He plays regularly on that wing for his club. Other players are Abdul Ajagun, John Chibuke and Raheem Lawal. Sone Aluko is a natural winger and that's all. |
| Re: Super Eagles Of Nigeria Thread: 2017 AFCON Qualifiers. by Icon4s(m): 3:08pm On Feb 27, 2016 |
forgiveness:Abdul Ajagun, I can for now recommend for the U23. I cannot beat my chest for now to tell whether Ajagun is better than Iheanacho, Iwobi and Etebor. Let all 4 players go slug it out at the U23 camp. Raheem Lawal did nt impress under Keshi. He is nt a stand out player. I doubt he can deliver d goods. As for John Chibuike, i am nt in d habit of rating a player i dnt know so well. I have no bases to say whether he is better than Aluko or nt. On Aluko only being a natural winger. Yes he is bt he also plays from d centre. In d last rnd of English FA cup matches u saw where he was slotted when he came in as a sub for Hull City against Arsenal? He went to play behind d main striker. |

Icon4s:When we talk about players playing regularly in that position. Rabiu Ibrahim is no 1 followed by Abdul Ajagun, John Chibuke and Raheem Lawal. I am not talking about players who starts from the bench. You said Raheem Lawal didn't impress, well, i think we should take a look at him again under Siasia. Sone Aluko is good but the guy needs to change his mentality. I mean he should find a good club. |

forgiveness:Can you list games of the Super Eagles of Joel Obi that are good as the last games Sone Aluko played under Coach Keshi. I said as long as Aluko played some recent games for Hull City, he is good to go. I repeat, no player has held the 10 role down like Aluko since Austin Jay Jay Okocha. If you can tell me. Look at this game Rabiu's performance was mind blowing, we can talk. There is a reason Hull signed Aluko. Okocha played for Hull when he helped them receive an EPL promotion. They signed Aluko for that same kind of game. |

Icon4s: Raheem Lawal does not come close to what we need. We need a creative player who can link the midfield, wings and attack together. A player who can soak pressure, hold the ball and attract players to himself. Creating room for other players to excel. Rabiu failed in all chances. He was a terrible flop in one of Coach Oliseh's games. It is a pity after Aluko's last games under Coach Keshi, we have not given him a chance to show what he can do. |

Icon4s: We can never conclude that Aluko is a natural winger because he played the ten role in games for Hull and Rangers. Also, Okocha played a lot of games for PSG and Frankfurt on the wings. |

forgiveness: Aluko with the kind of mentality you do not like, put in a Superb performance in the 10 role for the Super Eagles. While Rabiu, with his regular playing time flopped repeatedly. You want us to give those that impressed with the Super Eagles more chances over a person who performed flawlessly. |
