[s]Um...like has been argued on this thread many many times by Henry, can there be an attempt to stick to posting pics with brief summaries. The article belongs in the other military forum, there a dozens of such articles there which i have read, enjoyed and moved on...no problem.[/s]

- No I'm not a keyboard soldier, I'm an engineer that works in SA's defence industry. And you are? Only professional soldiers can call the rest of us "keyboard soldiers". So please...you are?

-[s]Using your own point....all posts, arguments, opinions by everyone on this and other threads are therefore null and void, since the opinions of the actual militaries involved matter more than ours. So when are you planning on deregistering your account? Since clearly we're all wasting our time here. [/s]

Very long winded, and yes hypocritical (no pics, long) reply by me.

sure.. and i'm a spaceman currently walking on the moon for NASA... see how easy itvis to type that with my keyboard.

moral of the story... the topic was on point, your response was kinda stup1d and yeah... your opinion doesn't count for sh*t.

no vex @henry. won't respond to the keyboard soldier again

Somali political class has been a big let down... when ever I here news about somali Mps its
1) complaining abt other countries or talking abt stuff not related to helping som situation.
2)blaming
3)voting a motion to remove their president
4) bieng assasinated

I ve never heard somali polititians bieng united for anything, you would think birng in a 'war' would unit them, or atleast the polititians, they should work towards peace first, then start picking up fights with other ppl

Kenya prison graduates
now the somalia president is saying he was miss quoted and what he meant was 200-180 kenyan soldiers were at the camp.not that the 200 KDF soldiers were killed.after what happened on friday in Mogadishu he is so scare and most likely has lost faith with his forces ability

Bro they won't understand since they always run back to their country in the middle of every war. Burundi, central African Republic and now Sudan. Am sure they will soon run from Congo too.

No nation can write such about South Africa.

Burundi was at peace and pacified when we left - mission accomplished

CAR was a training mission, which became impossible to complete after the Seleka takeover - no mission to accomplish. We were never there to stabilize the country, so your argument is fallacious.

And the Sudan is a waste of time, I fail to see how us withdrawing reflects negatively on us. There is nothing wrong with the SANDF re-deploying troops to maximise effectiveness and to reflect regional needs. Need I remind you that we are short of men for Operation Corona and that our commitment to the ASF has further strained budgets and manpower. Furthermore, this reflects the implementation of Mile-Stone 1 of the Defence Reveiw, namely the re-balancing of the SANDF.

Whilst our operations in Lesotho and DRC are highly successful as well as Burundi, and our DRC deployment is the most "difficult" UN deployment on earth and it remains a deployment we are heavily committed to.

The DRC army would write that about us, since they are so happy with the work we have done training them. I believe they are about to renew the agreement.

I find your comments to be unfair and driven by emotion rather than logic.

*We cannot just produce a documentary of what we've produced, we in Africa aren't yet media savvy.

Let me take up the challenge and go first with Nigeria. Nigeria produces a decent amount of defence equipment, some of which are Drones, Midshore Patrol Vessels, inshore patrol boats, Rockets and Pods, LAPV's, LAV's, MRAP's, FARAWA light trainer aircraft, Personnel kits, Ammo, MG's, Mortars, Rifles.

Igirigi, Proforce range of Armoured vehicles, Gulma & Ichoku drones, DICON kits, Andoni SDB's are the most popular products. However, I'll love to highlight the NNS Andoni II, built by the Naval Engineering Services Limited, a subsidiary of the Nigeria navy. NNS Andoni II is approx. 40 meters in length, it's a Midshore Patrol Vessel.

Here are photos of NNS Andoni II during production.

"Jan Wessels, Denel Group COO, said that Rooivalk production is “inevitable” and called on potential partners to join in the programme. Funding has been made available from Denel Aviation to proceed with upgrading the Rooivalk and the company has brought back the Rooivalk jigs in anticipation of producing the Mk 2."

Some good news for Nigeria gringrin

"He said his company generated two million dollars from
the export of armoured vehicles to Rwanda, Central Africa
Republic and South Sudan in 2015.
``I believe that we can achieve times ten of this our
earning in 2016 based on the present placement of order
occasioned by the ongoing war in some African countries,’’
he said.
He said the company had the capacity to produce 480
armoured vehicles per annum with plans for expansion in
three of its factories across Nigeria."

Looks like the Defence Force has a serious issue with one tribe over-dominating the top positions....unlike the Police Force

Is that a Norinco CQ with an under slung grenade launcher?
