On second thoughts I think my question might benefit someone else here. I studied petroleum engineering and I have experience in chemical engineering. So in my CDR, my career episodes will be predominantly chemical engineering (ie one for petroleum and two for chemical). Please which occupation should I nominate in order to get a positive assessment from Engineers Australia?

Thx for ur response
How years of experience do you have? If you have less than 3yrs in Chemical, I would suggest you should just base your CDR on Chemical engineering projects you did during your undergraduate years so as to avoid complication/mismatch of duties and just nominate chemical engineer.

Thx for ur response. I have less than 3 yrs...about 1.5 yrs. I studied petroleum engineering in my undergrad so I dont have chemical engineering projects during undergrad. So me using my chemical (precisely process) engineering projects during my post sch experience will cause complication/mismatch of duties when I nominate chemical engineer?
Sorry for asking again I just wanna be really sure when I nominate. Thanks so much.

Hello house, I applied for the Australian student visa to study diploma and advanced diploma in nursing, I went for medicals and was told I had right pleural effusion and was told to wait for about 3 months to take a Tb test and the test is out and it shows negativity to Tb so now that I don't have to I ve bn invited for a repeat x-ray on the 4th my question now is that if I go for the repeat x-ray and the effusion is still there a little will I get my visa grant since I don't have tb, answers please
you will get your visa as far it shows negative, i was in thesame boat like you, before the grant a letter of undertaken will be sent for you to sign stating when you get to Australia a follow-up medical test will be done after a month, just for them to be sure you dont have tb .

Assessing bodies are only concern with your first degree, your masters will only count if it's from Australia which is 5points.

Can't say whether HND will fetch points, hopefully those that are more informed will answer this.

ok so what if your fields are different, like the Bsc is different from the Msc, and you have 2 year work experience in the Msc, is it still the bSC you use for the PR regardless??

NNBB2012:

Spouse qualification regardless whether PhD/MSc/BSc/HND WON'T give you an extra 5points unless if the occupation is assessed by an Assessing body and in the same list with the principal's occupation.

Partner skills
You can receive five points if, when you are invited to apply for this visa, your partner provides evidence that they:
were under 50 years of age
had at least competent English
had nominated an occupation on the same skilled occupation list as your nominated occupation
had been assessed by the relevant assessing authority as having suitable skills for the nominated occupation.

hello sir, please where in australia are you? pls i need ur email

Hello house,

Thanks all for your contributions to naira land.
I have an urgent question as I am in the process of lodging my application. I will love to know the office to do so in Lagos, the total amount payable for 572 visa class , and if naira is acceptable for the whole visa fee and charges. A professional reply will be much appreciated. Thanks for your time .

I will advise you to stick to Petroleum Engineer and write your cdr on experience gained during your IT or any related to Petroleum Engineering so that you can nominate Petroleum Engineer. Be aware that your 1.5yrs experience in Chemical Engineering will not fetch you any point. Just avoid complication otherwise you might be given Engineering Technologist. They are two different occupations.

Wow! So that means I don't have enough experience to nominate chemical engineering. I appreciate your response. In the MSA booklet its stated that u need to provide documentary evidence of employment used in career episodes...I don't have evidence of one of my IT's I'll like to use, should I ignore this one or its something they can waive? I'm really sorry about my incessant questions but I really need to get this right. Thanks in advance.

E- family.....its a long journey from part 1 to this page. Been reading up and gathering information. Thanks to you all. Been in touch with @mpop and she has been very helpful.
I just have few questions to ask. My husband recently applied to RMIT (Master of Engineering Management) and Griffith (Master of Engineering Project Management Advanced) for June/ July intake. He didn't write the English test as it was stated in the transcript that the course was taught in English( B. Eng Electrical Electronics(Uk) and Instrumentation and Automation HND/ OND Certificate(Nigeria).

@Demi10 @Adetoi01 @chi50 @ada4ada @mpop @all

1) how long does it take to get offer letter from RMIT and Griffith?

2) at what point will they call us for interview?

3) Will you advise he still seat for the English test for visa purposes?

4) Do you advise we apply together or we apply after he has left? Myself and daughter won't be joining him now till next year.

Your prompt response will be highly appreciated.

He should apply for PR instead of applying as a student. It is very expensive.
