This is a bad precedent.
Remember the French revolution, the poor were taxed heavily while the nobles revels at the palace at varssalles until ONE DAY the people changed France forever.
Imagine increasing the cost of running the fraudulent government while the poor bear the brunt.

When a government is not ready to wake up, this is all what we see. Please name one thing this government or the previous administrations have done to help the common man or jobless or less privilege... The developed countries have lots of social security schemes for the poor, and I can relate to that if they all pay tax, cuz u are sure of earning something eventually u lose ur job.

1. Poor or not, you must pay taxes if you work and collect wages.

2. If you have no job, then you have no tax to pay

3. The poor sends their kids to government built schools, the poor go to government hospitals, the go to governments health centers, the poor get subsidized skills and education from skills centers, the poor gets state paid public defender, they drive on government roads paid for by everybody and so on.

4. The social security scheme in America is financed by every working american including the rich and the poor. You obviously know little or nothing about America

5. If you work, collect paycheck and don't pay your taxes in America, you not only go to jail, they can take away what you owe in taxes from your bank account or even take your paychecks. POOR OR NOT.

Your kind of mentality is the reason why Africa is backward and America is advanced.

Not sure if the LASG is pursuing the right policy. A lot of the people in the tax bracket may not declare their true income.

I guess the State is copying the American tax policy of taxing the lowest income earners 15%.

Something tells me that, the directorate setup to over see this endeavor will draw more funds from government confers than they will collect in taxes.

How dem go take calculate the tax liabilities of mama ego, who sells foods under eko bridge? What about the micro pure water business that Uncle Tom is running along mile 2 road?

This is another means of extortion of money from petty traders who can't afford to make ends meet and the extorted monies will end up in private pockets and accounts.

Hmmm i look forward to see how this will be implemented. The jobs are just so informal, you can't determine what each person earns
certain things will require your tax certificate just like no student can't get job without NYSC.govt no be better thing

Yankee and Co don pass through this stage. if ppl don't suffer they don't vote with sense. instead you'll be hearing iPod this and lagoon that instead of serious matters

What is keeping Africa back, is it the low income earners who are struggling to feed paying taxes or the massive wastage of resources by the government officials. For instance, the money used in buying brand new expensive cars for Politicians.

Before taxing the suffering masses, the federal and state governments should plug the leakages in running the government.

I foresee Occupy Lagos Part two.
