Engine displacement is the volume swept by all the pistons inside the cylinders of a reciprocating engine in a single movement from top dead centre (TDC) to bottom dead centre (BDC). It is commonly specified in cubic centimetres (cc or cm3), litres (l), or (mainly in North America) cubic inches (CID).

at the down stroke of all 4cylinders, if you filled them up with liquid, it would take 2.3liters to fill up all your cylinders

Toyota Camry 1997 aka pencil light.
I4 engine.

Please I've got two separate Issues.

1. I took my 1997 toyota camry for a Scan and got these two error codes.

P0340 & P0500

How can I resolve these issues?

Secondly

I took the car to a Mechanic who fixed the AC by welding some part of the condenser that was leaking... Then the AC worked fine for two days. Third day when I was driving with the AC on, my temp gauge went up, when I turned off the AC it went down. Not sure what happened. After that I noticed the AC button light was blinking. then it stops. Now no blinking lights, but AC no longer cools for reasons best known to it
Mechanic certified the Compressor to be okay. Even now, if you turn on the AC you can hear the engine sound change slightly but still no cool air.

Then if you really have any Mech you can recommend in PH, I would be very grateful. beginning to get real drained by the rate of incompetence in Port Harcourt here.

Hello Tech Gurus,

I'm typing this due to desperation and frustration. My car which is a 2001 3.0L Honda Accord V6 has been guzzling fuel like no man's business. Prior to this, I was getting 270 miles to a full tank which was quite far from the fuel economy I should have been getting. This became worse 2weeks ago when my Check Engine Light started blinking, my fuel economy degraded to 150 miles to a full tank (64 litres)

The car was scanned and discovered misfire in all 6 cylinders. The plugs and coil were changed as well the Throttle Position Sensor. The nozzles were also serviced and the movement of the car which was sluggish returned to normal.

All codes were cleared before I took the car out of the workshop. 2 days later, the Check Engine light started blinking again with the fuel consumption even becoming worse. I now do about 120 miles to a full tank which makes me buy fuel almost on a daily basis. The car is my major source of transportation as I usually resume work very early in the morning when I'm running morning shifts and close very late when running the evening.

I'm open to all forms of advice as that of my mechanic hasn't helped one bit.

Cheers

Please i have a 1997 US Honda accord.

it keeps bringing out white smoke from the exhaust, and the engine oil is always short. when i check the engine there is always engine oil all around. The mechanic says i need to ring the engine, please is this a good idea. Also, the car vibrates when in a stop position like in traffic.

Have your injector nozzles been inspected? it is most likely that one or more may be blocked.

This is clearly a misfiring symptom, your car is running lean (as the ecu is trying to compensate by increasing your fuel trim, hence dumping more fuel in the other 'free' nozzles) and your best bet is to either reclean or replace your nozzles.

i would also recommend that your entire fueling system be cleaned(fuel tank, fuel lines fuel rail etc), and your fuel filter changed to eliminate dirt and /or bad fuel

Codes 1 to 6 supports my claim.(misfiring on all cylinders)

Code 7 is a transmission issue(shift control system malfunction). This code is actually a pointer to a another transmission issue. I would suggest you service your transmission (drain/refill) using ONLY honda DW1 atf(quite pricey though), and keep your fingers crossed.

Code 8 indicates you have a bad air/fuel ratio sensor(bank 1) and would definitely contribute to your fuel consumption issue . pricey to replace too.

How can we fix these issues as the functionality of the car is one that I cannot undermine. What's the probable cost of repairs. Can you please highlight what each aspect of the repair will cost.
Re: Maintenance Tips On Cars. by GAZZUZZ(op): 5:09pm On Mar 10, 2016

engine is running rich. I doubt changing the spark plugs will do you any good.

O2 sensor bank 1 sensor 1

This is the sensor located on the top of the exhaust manifold firewall side.

Run a live scan, and have them check fuel trim.
