Nigerian MRLS

Why did Nigeria buy RM-70 when you have APR–40's which out-range it?

Some of the purchases were soo dodgy

@ViceAdmiral
The CDF in the open briefing before the demo said that the new Corvettes would most likely not be purchased from China and that they are the missing pieces of the Navy he then completed his answer to say"Once we add those to our fleet,we will be sorted"
BTW my money is on the Barosso Class

are the Chinese still manning the Elephant?do u think we have the personnel to operate a barosso at the moment or we still 5-6 years away

The Chinese engineers overstayed their welcome...The navy is the second largest branch of our armed forces Triad grin lots of personnel just sitting around doing nothing because we only have 1 OPV...I even know a lot of officers who reside in Windhoek because there isn't any work for them in Walvis...

It's Russian grin that's for sure
I place my bet on the AN-72
The Upper Echelon of the Air Force already expressed interest in it back in 2012 when five Angolan Air Force An-72's landed at HKIA with the bodies of PLAN fighters

I still think that those are staff officers seconded to the military school and HQ's in Windhoek which is Standard in all military's..not because there's no work

Henry, may I make a suggestion?
I know you started this thread and this is not your site. Get on to Seun and suggest you have "moderator" powers over the thread you started?

Pics and videos strictly, please. If at all we have to say anything, it's a description of the pic.

Follow on discussion can only be about the specific pics and nothing else?

For example:

PIC 1: A Recce 5 operator at Kiwanja in the DRC;

PIC 2: A SA Pathfinder.

Without the contributions of every contributor to this thread, this place would go stale and soul-less. However, we are all matured to be able to self-police ourselves. I know the vast majority of us are working class men, only a tiny fraction are in the university, as such we should be able to do things properly.

Your description mirrors how we've been running the thread most of the time, we should keep it that way.

Surely you joke! Even the Tanzanian military officers with whom I've interacted cannot understand why their politicians bought this joke of a Chinese system.
1) Not in service with the PLA;
2) Claimed distances completely falsified;
3) Fire-control system widely inaccurate beyond 25km.
And that's just the Tanzo military view!

What's that Eeben Barlow said? "Africa remains a dumping ground for obsolete systems". Not, I might add, because our military officers are incompetent, but mostly because of opaque procurement systems that maximise graft/kickbacks for senior defence and political persons!

its better than a BM-30 Smerch and its PLA successor PHL03 its even much more advanced

Bunkum. You threatened the 2nd respondent who merely expanded on Augustine's excretions. As usual, some are royal game.

......but I meant no harm at all. I just observed the troops, regulars vs elites and asked a question out of curiosity which I expected to be answered, not castigated. Why are you hyper-sentitive to trivial things, you forget this is just internet and nothing but a load of megabytes? I have been known here to go back and remove my posts, comments, photos etc just because people feel uncomfortable about it, who else does that level of self-dscipline here in the interest of this thread? Nobody.

And our visits to elite units continue: this week it was the police STF. Was surprised to find the m40a3 amongst their arsenal. cool
The military police's 13 CR Provost Company might one day end up being the military's equivalent of this unit.

Thanks but do not rest until you get us a full clear close up photo of the upgraded Vickers Eagle tank, and possible details of the upgrade. Ask the tank boys, they know.

Guys, does anyone notice the new roof mounted 'hardware' upgrade on NN AW 109 E Power helos?

I abhor personalising issues here: as a white guy, I will tell you we're a minority in all arms of service in the SANDF, with the possible exception of the Military Health Service, and that is also changing. I know you read SA defence news and you know our Def minister has been worried about white recruits dropping below white population ratios.

You answered the perimeter of my sincere question, no worries if you don't answer the nucleus of it. The anger and multiple complaints demanding that Augustine be 'executed by firing squad' profited no one. Your answer to the curious question is profit for everyone.

Nigerian army, police, and/or expert contigents in varying numbers remain in Dafur, Congo, and Mali till this moment. Stop peddling lies about Nigeria.

The second image is simply magnificent. A potential front-runner for the top 10 images of 2016.

Because you cherry picked two images to support your ludicrous "observations".

Your motives and intention were beyond transparent
