Malachi 3:10

10 Bring the full amount of your tithes to the Temple, so that there will be plenty of food there. Put me to the test and you will see that I will open the windows of heaven and pour out on you in abundance all kinds of good things.

VS

Micah 3:11

11 The city's rulers govern for bribes, the priests interpret the Law for pay, the prophets give their revelations for money—and they all claim that the Lord is with them. “No harm will come to us,” they say. “The Lord is with us.”

Now most modern church pastors interpret the food mentioned in Malachi 3:10 for money and this has formed a major popular doctrine in our churches today, could this Micah prophecy be an indictment on the church today?

Micah 3:5-7

5 My people are deceived by prophets who promise peace [open heavens] to those who pay them, but threaten war [devourer] for those who don't. To these prophets the Lord says, 6 “Prophets, your day is almost over; the sun is going down on you. Because you mislead my people, you will have no more prophetic visions, and you will not be able to predict anything.” 7 Those who predict the future will be disgraced by their failure. They will all be humiliated because God does not answer them.

No wonder most of the prophecies by our so called men of God always fail to come through.

Deuteronomy 26:12-14
12 When thou hast made an end of tithing all the tithes of thine increase the third year, which is the year of tithing, and hast given it unto the Levite, the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, that they may eat within thy gates, and be filled;
13 Then thou shalt say before the Lord thy God, I have brought away the hallowed things out of mine house, and also have given them unto the Levite, and unto the stranger, to the fatherless, and to the widow, according to all thy commandments which thou hast commanded me: I have not transgressed thy commandments, neither have I forgotten them.
14 I have not eaten thereof in my mourning, neither have I taken away ought thereof for any unclean use, nor given ought thereof for the dead: but I have hearkened to the voice of the Lord my God, and have done according to all that thou hast commanded me.

Tithing was instituted to take care of the needs of the less privileged in the society. The meaning of bringing the tithes into the storehouse of God, or into His temple, is simply to give your tithes to the less privileged in the society. God has no house, He does not dwell in temples made with human hands; the grandiose edifices of today- 50,000 seater auditoriums, 2km by 2km auditoriums, 'temple mount' in Jerusalem, these are not the temple of God, the temple of God is the heart of man.

These days however, you do not need to 'obey the law' of paying tithes, all you need is just to be generous, be very open handed, to everyone as much as you can.

Jesus clarified this when He talked about feeding the less privileged as the prerequisite for attaining heaven:

Matthew 25:37,40
Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee an hungred, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink?
40 And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.

Matthew 23:23

Yes he did mention tithes in matthew 23:23 but he made it clear it was a less important aspect of the law. However as christians we are no longer under the law so it's clearly not directed to us. The statement was directed at pharisees who were still under the law as of that time.
