With the webbings? huge back-pack? water bottle etc..? what you are seeing here is the new army, we're more focused on mobility and maneuvering not digging trenches and staying put. . now we have a better logistic system so no need for individual soldier to be heavily ladened with equipment that should be carried by support elements.

Regimental Sergeant Majors’ Seminar Officially Opened at Kahawa Garrison by the Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Leonard Ngondi

Kahawa Garrison hosted Kenya Army Regimental Sergeant Majors’ Seminar from 8th to 10th March 2016. The three day seminar was aimed at apprising RSM’s on matters concerning soldiers’ duties and responsibilities. The theme of the seminar was to deliberate on the new Army Human Resource Development Guidelines (AHRDG) that is already in place.
In his opening remarks, Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Leonard Ngondi touched on important aspects that concern soldier’s day to day life. He reiterated the importance of the seminar saying he’s committed in ensuring the welfare of all soldiers regardless of rank.
He reminded the RSMs that a soldier’s objective is always doing the right thing even if it’s not popular, because that’s what entails professionalism in a soldier. He assured the participants that he will always support them in their endeavors.
Present during the event were several Senior Officers drawn from Headquarter Kenya Army and formations.

True, I agree with you. Our ECOMOG days troops looked so professional in those old time gear, especially the all green with the big pouches and their good old FN-FAL rifles, they looked good looked 'warlike' and no nonsense. Two things, those days most troops tuck in their shirts, makes anyone look smart, now most will fly their shirts. Also those days less vehicles were available, so they need big pouches for ammo/water/food, but now so many Toyotas and LAVs to store ammo/other supplies.

Yes I agree, I know harsh weather and terrain conditions of desert war compels Nigerian troops to loosen up their clothing and yes it makes them look rough and unprofessional, but the irony is that they are being professional by checkmating the heat, sand, dust problem of NE semi desert war zone. Reason why Chadian army sticks to their head turban and loose clothing.

Video gone viral in EU and USA, why is the world criticizing NDA training? This is Nigeria's military training tradition, we owe nobody any apology. Nigerian soldiers are very tough and strong physically. Let the Europeans and Americans try copy Nigerian soldiers and see them collapse. Nigerians troops compare body stamina with the likes of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese troops, not these hamburger-cheese burger eating NATO soldiers.....we eat eba or akpu !

Drownproofing Training (U.S. Navy SEALs)

Trainees endure surf torture, also called "cold water conditioning," while covered in mud. They then have their arms and legs bound as a part of "drownproofing." They must bob up and down twenty times, float for five minutes, swim to the shallow end of the pool, turn around without touching the bottom, swim back to the deep end, do a forward and backward somersault underwater, and retrieve a face mask from the bottom of the pool.

The craziness doesn't end there either – a BUD/S instructor attacks a trainee in the pool to simulate a combative drowning victim.

To some extent @agaugust I agree with you. You can tuck in ur shirts in Yobe, Maiduguri...far north east you will die of HEAT....... . Do you want to talk of the hot air that blows, sand storm,harmatan etc..

What the lady is doing is standard practice. ...and very valuable, ask anyone that has done it.....even now after so many years....I will still do it easy, no shaking as this clown. .....soon, she will learn how to blank out the pain....and the fun is in watching the expression of pain, on the faces of your mates buying the same job......I will say they were even very soft on the cadet!!!

Planting is just some of the obligatory nonsense drills to imply they make soldiers better. The supporters would also tell you that second video with horsewhips and cane is another to make them better.

lol. i have to disagree though. our armies are not unprofessional because of what they went through in training. i just proved to you that even the most professional militaries do worse to their recruits. so you should laying emphasis on Africa.

i believe what makes us seem unprofessional is lack of money, laws to guide against abuses etc..

so would you call the US, UK military unprofessional for their abuses in iraq and afghanistan?
