feelamong:thank God the rate is coming up. |

clino:It is an auction, and in auctions your bid can fail if the rate you offer is higher than the stop rate. |

Wow. Thank you. I think i want the 365 days option. jeebz: |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by jeebz: 6:33pm On Mar 04, 2016 |
Bookiemart01:Next auction should be on 16-03-2016. Visit your bank before 14th to do the needful. |

clino:I have been using fidelity since i started investing in tbills and they have never disappointed me for once,as long as the rate you chose is lower or equal to the stop rate. All these stories I see here are strange to me. |

The one year bid failed but to my greatest surprise they didn't return my money in full. called the account officer but she seems not to know what went wrong. Am thinking this problem is peculiar to FBN alone because she confirmed that all 182 and 365 days through first bank didn't pull through. I might be trying another bank for the next auction. But still need to resolve the 200k deduction issue first. |

OK. This is coming from someone that is not a guru in anyway. I am now seriously considering putting a bit of money in T-bills. To me it looks like the 91 day option is the best. At 5.1% quarterly, if i roll over everything for 4 quarters (assuming everything remains equal), that translates to about 22% for the complete 365 day (i.e 5.1 compounded over 4 terms of 91 day tenures). But I still have this feeling that i am missing something. Except if these rates are PA rates So, gurus pls shed more light as i am about to pull the trigger. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Desanta(m): 8:50am On Mar 07, 2016 |
gists:Rates are PA. So you actually get 5.1% / 4, for the 91 days tenor. |

Good evening people. I have a situation. I completed the Tbills form at First Bank HQ in Ilorin today and made it clear that I was bidding for the Primary market of 16th. My account was however debited today. Please pros, do I have any reason to worry? |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by silvoice(m): 8:45pm On Mar 10, 2016 |
Etfash:not at all. It's normal way of debiting for tbills in nigerian banks |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by jeebz: 9:00pm On Mar 10, 2016 |
Etfash:All requests made till Monday will be debited in lieu of the auction on Wednesday. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Desanta(m): 7:30am On Mar 11, 2016 |
Etfash:No cause for alarm. It's their normal procedure. |

Wish I had an account in Ghana. Tbills rate is about 21%!!! Some businesses cant give you 20% roi in the first year. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by unite4real: 5:57pm On Mar 16, 2016 |
1wolex85:It doesnt follow that way. Imagine getting 80% in Zimbabwe.By the time you bring the money to Naija, you now know the deal no make sense. In the United States treasury bills rate sometimes 0.5% and less. Does that mean Ghana is better? Imagine as of today, inflation in Nigeria is double digit of over 11% and doing a treasury bill below that is a loss to me but at all at all na im bad so we still get the little rates. This issue had been over flogged sometimes on this thread i guess. |
| Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by 1wolex85: 7:08pm On Mar 16, 2016 |
unite4real:I dont understand you o! the cedi to naira exchange rate has been relatively stable over the last two years hovering between 50-55 naira to a cedi and besides we are dealing with percentages so what are you talking about? Say I convert my 1mill to cedis at 50 naira per cedi, that is 20,000 cedis, treasury bills of one year at 20%, what I have is 24,000 cedis convert to naira at 50 naira , that is 1.2mill. I take the same 1 mill and invest in naija tbills at 10% for one year, I get 1.1mill, so which one is more? We are dealing with percentages, the only thing that can affect it is exchange rate fluctuation. And if US tbills rate is 0.5% and Ghana is 20%, Yes! Ghana is better as long as the dollar to cedi exchange rate remains relatively stable over the period of your investment. |

IHelp:There is an article on www.mutual funds nigeria (.) com that talks about factors that affect rates. http://www..com/index.php?controller=pjLoad&action=pjActionView&id=62 If the link to the article does not open, go to the site and filter the blogs by selecting treasury bills and you will see the blog "why rates move up and down " |
