Great engineering schools. More robust economy than Canada. Biggest economy in the Europe . You can also transition to work permit after studies. Better wages than Canada etc

@Dbnagato, I don't know where you got that link or maybe you just want to add to Jackson 755 current issue. @Jackson 755, your ability to pay attention to details matters a lot when it comes to immigration matters. Someone posted earlier that it cost CAD 5 to apply for a case file and another person is sending you a link with $46 fee and you cannot even ask questions. I have applied for those case files for my friends a dozen times and YES it cost only CAD 5, here's the link: https://atip-aiprp.apps.gc.ca/atip/privacyTerms.do

Do not dwell on that, its clearly a human error.....there have been cases like yours before and requesting for your GCMS is the bet bet for you..

In anyways even if they ticked some boxes you will still need the GCMS to have a clearer picture

Excellent advice. Germany is an excellent backup plan. Don't know if I agree with your arguments about Germany being better, especially as you ultimately will need to learn a new language (tho a lot of their MSc programs are in English) as opposed to Canada where integration would be easier. Yet, I wholeheartedly agree with you that it is an excellent second choice to Canada because of its excellent economy, fantastic engineering tradition, ease of staying after school, and more.

@ Bandeco, @thesoj, please do you know schools in Germany that offer Msc in Petroleum Engineering. Do they accept Nigerian graduates with 2.2?

Na like this una take dey confuse people.
Who told you Germany is easier to gain admission in ?
In fact, it is even difficult than Canada.
1. You need IELTS just as Canada
2. You need to learn the language to a certain level.
3. There is a huge competition because of the free education system. Lots and lots of people apply and you need concrete application documents (strong SOP etc).
4. The VISA is hard to acquire at the Embassy. They even have an Interview System
5. You need to even have about 2million naira to deposit to your German account before Visa acquisition.
And who told you there aren't "great" Engineering schools in Canada and that the economy isn't "Robust"?

Regardless of whatever reasons you've listed and that you're going to list, it's easier for you to Integrate in the Canadian society than the German's. Trust me, it's not even safe in some cities in Germany.

Here's the student visa thread.

PS: my bro got MSc admission to Germany (this was his backup plan if Canada didn't work), hence my knowledge about it. Check out the NL German thread and go ask them questions. Also their thread only has two parts so it is not as long and wordy as this one.

You never mentioned paper route and online applications get tracking number too after biometrics, and if you track the message what you will get is Visa application, tracking ID No. .................. is being processed at the Canada Visa Office . To know more, please call VAC helpline number or visit VAC website.
After biometrics too you will get a mail from VFS saying.
Dear ............, Visa application,Tracking Id No. ........... – has been forwarded to the Canada Visa Office , Lagos on 00/00/0000. An auto e-mail will be generated to inform you when the application is returned and is available for collection at the application Centre. Please note this is an auto generated e-mail. Dude, it confounds me that you are both dogmatic and fear-mongering.

1. IELTS isn't a biggie if you speak English haba. Tuition in Germany is free, do you want them to have zero entry requirements?
2. No you don't need to learn German to study at the masters level in Germany in their international programs.
3. Of course you need concrete documents in the same way that you need concrete documents for Canada. I taya for you o. Compared to Canads, at least you can get an MSc admission in Germany with a 2:2 BSc from Naija. My bro got admission into a MSc in Computer Science (at a good school) because he put together an amazing application.
4. Capital NO. The visa is not hard to acquire. Their interview is straightforward and the outcome is not random like the US embassy, and they don't need all the documents in the world like the Canadian embassy. But you need to prepare for the interview, Germans don't want riff-raffs. Follow the German thread on NL and you will see this clearly.
5. Yes you need 8040 Euros, and that's ALL you need for a year to cover living expenses cos tuition is free. (Unlike Canada where you may need at least $25,000 CAD, which is equivalent to 17000Euros).

You just made my point. While Canada is excellent, it is not the only country in the world that offers great opportunities for Nigerian students. Germany is excellent as well.

Also, nobody said there aren't great engineering schools in Canada. We all know that. The fact of the matter is that Germany also has great schools.

PS: My bro almost went to Germany so I am intimately aware of the process. He got his Canada TRV two weeks before his Germany student visa appointment (we ran the processes in parallel).

Spot on, I guess Bandeco and the veteran thesoj missed point 5. Generally your grades must be quite good to enter German top schools. I was trying to apply for some schools and most was 2.1 upwards.

It appears your range of vocab at insulting people doesn't exceed dogmatic and some other word you just came up with.
Now, I'll respond to your confused response.

1. IELTS isn't a biggie but I don't doubt you'll get a 6 at writing because of the way you construct a Sentence. IELTS is compromised of four sections, and you're evaluated on these 4. Which is Speaking, Listening, Writing and Reading. You could be good at Speaking which isn't much of a big deal and be totally poor at Writing and Reading... and given the fact that we are Non-native English speakers; Nigerians stumble when it comes to Writing and Reading.
2. So upon completion of your International Program, you do not plan to work? Do you know that Germans are way comfortable using their own language in terms of business compared to the English language ? How do you expect to cope in Germany without German?
3. That's not true. Canada is easier compared to Germany. Canada accepts WAEC, Germany doesn't. Germany only accepts you for a Bachelors degree if you've had an extra year higher educational studies after your SSCE. For Masters, they do accept your 16 years education. Admission takes months for Germany because of the huge applications their profs have to go through every year. Just think of it, education is good and its free, who doesn't want to apply ? Now the Canadian fees tend to chase people away from wanting to apply.
4. Capital YES. If you don't know sh1t, don't say it. Trust me, do NOT. It's hard. And to talk of the german thread, I'm there as well.
5. That's not all you need for a year to cover living expenses, Son. That's an investment you must MAKE. It's UNCONDITIONAL. You could go to Canada without paying a dime towards admission whereas the opposite is the case when it comes to Germany.

And lastly, you don't seem to understand SARCASM. Not that I blame you, I just expected more from what I've seen on the thread here. When a word is in quotes, it's mimicking the double fingers.

That is not entirely true because you need to deposit 8000 euros in blocked account to be able to get a visa and pay monthly insurance when you get to German, adding everything together in a year it cost more than studying in some colleges in Canada and no language problem.

Ok no harm meant. You made some good points in the post below but your first post was emotive.
DanIndia:
It appears your range of vocab at insulting people doesn't exceed dogmatic and some other word you just came up with.
Let's leave that for the readers to judge.
DanIndia:

Now, I'll respond to your confused response.

1. IELTS isn't a biggie but I don't doubt you'll get a 6 at writing because of the way you construct a Sentence. IELTS is compromised of four sections, and you're evaluated on these 4. Is taking & passing IELTS a bad price to pay if you get free tuition in return? You argue that Nigerians are bad writers (including you, see how you capitalized the first letters of words that are not proper nouns, a common error among Nigerian writers) but should that mean they shouldn't strive to improve said skills?

DanIndia:
2. So upon completion of your International Program, you do not plan to work? Do you know that Germans are way comfortable using their own language in terms of business compared to the English language ? How do you expect to cope in Germany without German?
True. I mentioned the need to learn German (for integration) in my first post on this. But it stands that you don't need to learn German beforehand to get into an international masters program. Also, remember that not all Nigerians can afford Canada. That is the audience I'm writing to. You, however, seem to be dogmatic (yes, I used it again) about dismissing Germany.

DanIndia:
True, German undergrad education is more difficult to get admission into than Canada. You are right on that. Masters education however is a different ballgame. I would estimate the difficultly to not be higher than Canada especially since there are several schools (excluding UoAS) in Germany that clearly accept 2:2 BSc grades; this is very different from Canada.
DanIndia:
4. Capital YES. If you don't know sh1t, don't say it. Trust me, do NOT. It's hard. And to talk of the german thread, I'm there as well.
I guess you want the embassy to bring the visa to your house abi! Of course it is not trivial, but it is straightforward compared to Canada.
DanIndia:
5. That's not all you need for a year to cover living expenses, Son. That's an investment you must MAKE. It's UNCONDITIONAL. You could go to Canada without paying a dime towards admission whereas the opposite is the case when it comes to Germany.
You get the 8040Euros back if you don't get the visa.
DanIndia:
IAnd lastly, you don't seem to understand SARCASM. Not that I blame you, I just expected more from what I've seen on the thread here. When a word is in quotes, it's mimicking the double fingers.
Sarcasm is the protest of the weak.

In conclusion, you do make some good points but this doesn't mean that you need to be binary. Canada is not heaven and Germany is not hell. Relax man.

I concur with you bro.... However, Germany arguably has the best integration mechanism in the world.. They offer free German language lessons to all immigrants(not only refugees) . So if anyone is serious about integration, within a year the person's German language ability should be near native level
