Good day nairalander, I want to apply for my masters degree in the us but I'm skeptical because of some issue I'm having with my credentials, the date of birth in my waec result is not correct and have backed that up with affidavit doing the submission of my files in school. So when I collected my BSc results and cert last week I discovered that my other names did not appear both on the statement and the certificate. Instead of OJELADE EMMANUEL SUNDAY they wrote OJELADE EMMANUEL. And on my waec cert and my passport I have my 3 names. I'm looking at the consequences of this when applying for the school and even the embassy. I'm just confuse as the complications is much in my credentials. Pls I need you guyz help and suggestions

Well let me see how best I can respond. To me WES remains the best but one thing u must consider is the time it takes them to finish up,cos they wl contact ur undergraduate school to verify ur transcript and ur school will then respond before they start evaluating. Another reliable evaluation service is IERF. They don't contact ur undergraduate school for any reason and once they get ur document,they evaluate it within 10working days. As for how d outcome will be,just go to WES site,u will see a free evaluation template. Just use it to evaluate urself to have an idea how it will be. It will require u to enter ur courses and grades den u will automatically see the possible outcome. Hope I have tried in answering ur question. Other gurus can help too.

It always advisible to drop your interview transcript eiter denied or granted and allow your gurus do justice to them! From the Justice they do, u will learn what u not doing right!

You applied the second time only one month later without looking at or changing anything.
You must look at the reason for refusal and makr changes to improve your chances.

Travel to Ghana or other local places means nothing to the visa officers. Only visit and return to popular big country like US, UK or Shengen group helps.

Post the exact reason given for refusal, then we may guide you.

Thanks bro. Others I've asked concur. My main concern was if it would have an impact on my I-20. I've accepted the offer from mississippi state uni. Seems the best fit for me. I just want a quiet place to face my books with no distractions. And my prospective advisers have competence in my intended field or research. Have you decided yet? U got some PhD admits ryt?

Drop your visa interview transcript so that people here can read and help you because I guess there is a reason why the VO chatted with the VO that denied you before..

Only this your english is enough to make the VO to trash your study plan and documents.

Edit your documents or find someone to do it, my little observation and advice though

You flopped all the opportunities to sell yourself. You were too lukewarm. No excitement in your answer. I am sure you barely spoke loud.

I want to stress here that VO are tired of hearing about online research for school. How many school can you truly research online? Every sch online will sell itself. Wouldn't you if you had a school. Therefore online details is a very bias means of choosing a school. You would probably be deceived and frustrated once you get to the school.

One good way to find out about the school is past experiences of students and staff of the school who are by themselves experience the school. So telling VO that a formal senior or brother of yours attended the school and told you of the numerous opportunities the school offers and saying he found employment immediately he got back to nigeria because of his acquired skill sets is a good way to impress the VO. You could say he was elevated to senior position because of his contribution to his workplace six months after returning from us.

Notice I always tie my answer to nigeria because of home ties. I cannot over emphasize the importance of that.

On why you choose the course, stop saying the curriculum or class ratio. Most school in US has same structure of curriculum. Why? They all research into best structure of curriculum and they virtually turn up with same curriculum. However, current research differs per university. So ur attraction to a named researched by prof so so will be apt for you to mention. Go further to say you are in touch with the prof. If you have a good sat or GRE score. Chip in that he was happy with your CV and GRE score.

See? You are the one leading the interview. At this stage, he would be interested in your score. VO would be impressed.

I hope I made a good point. This is a money-worth points. You got it free. So be nice to someone else.

The above message was the message I got after contacting my prospective program director telling her I have gone through the website and interested in some of her research on mind, brain & teaching even though my application packet was not complete as at that time.( I was waiting for WES evaluation) I sent that email.( I'm going for a master of education with a concentration in cognitive science)
But now that I have submitted all my application materials, and I have been notified by the graduate admissions that my file has been sent for a review for admission.
my questions are:
1) should I contact my program director again reminding her of our previous discussions?
2) Is it right for me to submit GA application form to her now before admission decision comes up ? won't I look too desperate?( I actually want the funding to appear on my I 20)
