Heart-broken! Got a rejection mail from univ of rhode island, Msc mech eng. So devastated right now, as it's the only school I have applied to. Now, I'm not even motivated to apply to any other. However, I cant imagine my dream of studying in the US forfeited. Cant just jump on any school's page now to apply. Suggestions on schools that are safe for my profile would be appreciated. GRE: 300, CGPA: 3.63/5.00.

@ lobito007, I can understand what you are passing through but don't let it weigh you down. In my own case, the admission letter from University of Louisiana at Lafayette came first before denial from the next four school I applied to. I would still share my story so that people can learn a thing or two. I am still awaiting decision from other school before sharing testimony . I would have suggested University of Louisiana at Lafayette, West Virginia University, Montana Tech of the University of Montana and Missouri University of Science and Technology. Those are safe schools for engineering even though they are excellent schools too. Unfortunately, the deadline for the first three has passed. You can apply to Missouri University of Science and Technology (MST). MST deadline is April 1st for International students but check and be sure you meet their requirements. Just a suggestion, if you have to do this all over again, try and apply to atleast 6 schools. Make sure you have about three safe schools that you believe your profile meets their requirement and apply early between September to November of the previous year. December is already late for schools with rolling admission. Admission is really competitive this period.

sorry about the admission decision, however it's not the end of the world. You dust yourself and move on. Pls check wright state university Ohio. They have a pretty dope engineering program and your profile suits them just fine. Best of luck mate

I just got their admission decision, and surprisingly, I got admitted with funding worth 35% of the tuition. Still thinking if I should go on to retake d GRE n apply to better schools n probably get better funding...please ur advice will be highly appreciated.
Please who knows about University of Rochester Your comments on what you know about dis school will be highly valued.

It is a very good school, though in NY. If you have to live in NY, you might have to be with some good money. Having said that, I know they have a good CS program and it is a good school. The funding is kinda small though. Congratulations.

People are actually taking the test. Seats are getting filled up almost everyday on the GRE portal for Nigeria. I've been checking religiously for the past two weeks now. I want to write in May. But... Seats are filled up even for May. I hope they open it up again.
