/ Your nerve endings are compromised. That's where the pain is coming from. Taking pain pills is not the solution. It will soothe the pain and when the medication wears off, the pain seems to come back. Go back to the dentist or do I say, another dentist. This time don't be cheap and most importantly stay away from bones. / |

lekahm:I've extracted two teeth and started eating that same day with very little pain when you feel serious pain is when the tooth is being pulled out i think there's an infection maybe your dentist isn't paying attention to you let him do a proper check up or preferably go to a specialist hospital and see a specialist |

lekahm: I think you are the cause of your problem. You don't go cracking bones after tooth extraction. My kids have extracted some teeth some even extracted 4 at a time without problems. Please go back to the doctor. |

lekahm: This is rather late, but I believe you will have time to read this: I had toothache not quite long. Infact I even opened a thread here on Nairaland ( https://www.nairaland.com/2822232/ever-experienced-chronic-toothache-what ), and though I recieved some funny replies, some others were still helpful. At long last I decided to extract the teeth because the pain was terrible. I went to UBTH (University Of Benin Teaching Hospital) in place of a 'dentist' somewhere. I was placed on few drugs and salt water bath (which I didnt even follow up strictly) As at now, am totally free. So I guess, your dentist was not quite a professional that was why you had re-ocurring pains. I advise you visit a hospital, and ask for real medical attention. All the best! I will never even wish toothache for my enemy! God help us! |

@LEKHAM I had this same experience with one of my close relatives. He went for extraction at the dentist's and started suffering seriously, we went back several times and they kept giving him pain killers all to avail. Eventually went to another dentist and discovered that the earlier dentist had left some tooth particles behind in the process of doing the extraction. My advice is see another dentist please. Sorry for the pains you are going thru. |

Extraction of tooth should be the last option. I have my reasons. The best thing is to address the root cause of the infection. Failure to do this it will spread to other parts of the mouth. Wash your mouth twice daily. In an acute stage like yours before extraction, there are some native cures that we often disregard yet are effective. Contact me if you deem it fit. It cost little or nothing, but your dentist will never tell you |

Re: Tooth Extraction by Nobody: 5:40pm On Mar 17, 2016 |
lekahm: Is it looking red as well? Is it draining any fluid? If it is it's probably infected. Now I know everyone is saying don't self medicate but ypo cantake safe pain killers like panadol and go see your dentist afterwards |
Re: Tooth Extraction by kitone: 7:50pm On Mar 17, 2016 |
lekahm: i am a Dentist,go back to the clinic for a peri apical radiograpgh ,this will show if there was a retained root in the extraction socket,if the socket is empty, then may be the alveolar bone edges are rough and needs to be smooth because that will explain you may have bit on bone after the surgery.you didnt metion antibiotics been given to you.go back for a review.and let me add,for the drills to be used, then your extraction is not a simple extraction. |

lekahm:. Well I have pulled my tooth twice and it was really hard to remove cause it was the last one.when I pulled the second one, the place refused to heal and d swelling refused to go down even the hole was still open after one week which to me was unusual cause it wasn't like that the first time.so I took a very strong tooth pick and a mirror and used the toothpick to search inside the hole after a while I came out with some particles of tooth still left I did it again and brought out a bit of the instrument that I think cracked and fell inside in the process of removal. After all that I searched again and found nothing. I washed the place with hot water and salt then applied Robb on it.By the next morning the swelling had reduced totally. I kept applying Robb for about four days and the hole closed up totally I hope this helps u a bit |
Re: Tooth Extraction by Nobody: 8:47pm On Mar 17, 2016 |
kitone:It was nt a simple extraction actually cos d Dr said the tooth grew on d bone and it's nt even shown (u can't see by mere looking, unlike others) dts y he opted for removal. Yes he gv antibiotics wch I used in d 1st week. He actually chked n confirmed dt dr was no infection n dt d wound is healed. However he asked me to do a sort of skull x-ray to ascertain d cause of d swelling . While he gv a drug to reduce swelling n pain. I pray it works out fine. |

Hello guys!Hey, if I were you, I'd go to the dentist. This is a very serious problem! Believe me, I was in such a situation that after going to the local dentist I started a severe pain in the oral cavity, and at that time I had to go to my family in the UK. When I arrived there, my pain was incredibly intense (I think it was all because of the pressure in the plane) and we went to Emergency dentist in Stoke On Trent. There I was given painkillers and removed the nerve that remained after the previous dentist... You know what? I liked their service so much that now every year I go there to check my teeth, because their services are quite inexpensive comparing to the services of other dentists |
