My dear, many of us have been through it before. It was d best decision to have it extracted. Now dentist ate not all d same. I recall when university college hospital Ibadan performed root canal therapy on me and became afraid of complications that arose due to a previous operation done on d same tooth at d Nigerian navy medical centre calabar. God ordered my steps to LUTH idiaraba Lagos. Those guys in luth examined my case, told me not to worry And that they saw that it was incompetent doctors that handled it. In no time , what was to cost me 130k at Ibadan cost me just 10k in LUTH. 8yrs down d line, I am still doing great |

excessive or abuse of pain relief drugs (analgesic) is dangerous to your health, especially your liver and kidney. Visit your doctor again, he will know what to do. |

It's most likely some tooth particle are still there in the gum. This same thing happened to me . I filled my teeth first later the filled area removed after about 1 yr then the doctor said they will have to remove the whole tooth then I agreed upon doing that this great pain accompany the removal. Then I called a dentist friend who now carried out an x-ray on the tooth only to discover that it wasn't removed properly from the root. After he removed it himself at the somolo general hospital the whole pain became a thing of the past and is been 4yrs he did that for me. No day have I had to witness this pain ever again |

Re: Tooth Extraction by simplynola(m): 10:08am On Mar 17, 2016 |
Visit your dentist and let him rewash the area and repack it after which you should avoid using your tongue to pick the area. You must have been using your tongue often to play round the area that's why you are experiencing pain cuz you dint allow the blood in the path to clot and the bone is much exposed to air. Avoid using straw and cold drinks till it gets healed. |

lekahm: buy hydrogen peroxide and use to rinse ur mouth making sure u rinse the affected part the more. the first rinsing will be painful. same with second and third. but it will greatly relieve the pains and provide quick healing. do it morning and night - you will thank me later. |

jmichlins: I'd advise you visit a good dentist...same thing happened to me and I took it for granted for few years... not knowing an infection was slowly building up. Long story short, the pain came back years later, this time in 100 folds. Had to visit a dentist and lawd knows I had to spend a lot to get it treated. |

You're undoing yourself. You removed your teeth, not up to three months and your gluttony didn't allow you to wait for atleast three months for it to heal up and you start eating bones and tough meat. Didn't your dentist told you not to take tough food till it heals up. Please go back to hospital and make formal complain and desist from eating tough food. |

Re: Tooth Extraction by DrSuleiman100: 11:17am On Mar 17, 2016 |
I want to believe that the tooth you removed was the last tooth. And I also want to believe that the tooth is on the lower jaw. Also, I believe that the tooth in question was not completely erupted (grown out) before it was removed. That was a case of surgical extraction which is different from routine or common extraction. Well, you're not supposed to have persistent severe pain after the removal. But if you have persistent pain, there may be retained root of the tooth, there may be bone speckles in the socket. Or, it may be what we call dry socket. All in all, you will need to go back to the dental clinic if it is a standard one for thorough investigations possibly x-ray of the socket to be able to see what is inside it. Just calm down. You have taken the right decision to remove the tooth. Because if you leave it there, it may start destroying your jaw bone, the next tooth to it and in fact it may trigger neoplastic growth or even cyst. Don't take much of analgesic or antibiotics as advised by some people cos this may have undesirable effects on your liver. I believe if you have not entered into the hands of quacks, that pain will become a thing of past. And let me also say it here that this case is different. You should have followed the instructions given to you by not eating bone on that side till it is completely healed. What they did for you was surgery. Tooth extraction is now a painless procedure if well done. Don't be scared. It is better to remove a bad tooth in your mouth than to leave it there because of many things the bad tooth may cause. Your mouth is the window to your health. Thank you. 2 Likes |

Re: Tooth Extraction by blackboy(m): 11:23am On Mar 17, 2016 |
Had a severe tooth ache last year. The dentist said no to tooth extraction but a root canal operation. More expensive in the long run because a dental tooth cap at the end. |

Op while you go visit another dental clinic for thorough examination, you can buy ncp liquid and cotton wool. Read the inside leaflet and follow instruction for extraction and swollen gum. That is put ncp soaked cotton wool at extraction location and then gagle with dilute ncp solution before and after meal. |
