Like av always said here, without the government spending, the country will be in a mess... They are the biggest spender, releasing #350b into the economy will go a long way in making things a bit easy, that's if all the money will be use in doing what it's meant for... The government is not spending money, that's why everything is in a stand still, I pray they pass the budget soon.. Wonder why this administration is delaying things, the masses are suffering ooo. |

ShowYourCertificate: LOL . . . so the gov't is gifting them money, right? So, you are not aware many contractors are owed, and many contracts/constructions are presently suspended? My man, I admire your comprehension skills. ![]() |

ShowYourCertificate:The contractors sacked the workers and abandoned their sites cos the INNEFFECTUAL BUFFOON owed them, and in some cases the contracts was just a fraud and. Didn't follow due process,..........this is the impression our Minister is trying to current, design a strong legal frame work that will ensure the contractors execute the projects accordingly and that will automatically get their workers back, not dolling out "ghost" projects worth Billions of Naira by Dasuki. |

Most of the people commenting here did not do basic economics in school or their hatred for Kemi made them to see no good in what she proposed . The multiplier effect of #350b in this dwindling economy is a great one. May end up being in trillions and many benefits shall trickle in. Adding a condition of re-engaging laid off staff is not the primary reason for this but a quick way of fixing our problem. With budget being passed into law and all ministries and agencies being funded everything will definitely be stabilized. Let us always read contextually and in absolute way and not with biased minds. N350b will definitely rejiggle the economy and this is just one in many things to do. A good decision if you ask me. |

udemzyudex: You are right; though it is what it is, it's a shame though. The private sector needs to be empowered/re-invigorated. |

| Re: FG To Stabilise Economy With N350bn by Nobody: 6:51am On Mar 23, 2016 |
They will use $1 bn to stabilize an economy sized at over half a trillion? When will Nigerians get seriously ambitious about developing their economies? Anything less than $100 billion thrown into infrastructure will leave things in the same place talk less of other sectors. |

This to be sound like paying contractors money owned them by Government so that they can go back to work and re-engage workers. If you read inbetween lines, the use of the word "re-engage" is a confirmation by Federal Government that many Nigerians have lost their jobs. It's also disappointing that nothing was said about the passage of the budget, which when passed expectedly should drive MDAs spending. That brings the question; under which legal instruments are they going to release the N350 billion Naira?won't the money be appropriated for? Could it be as a bailout or payment of contractors debt?....looks like the latter. |

Donkeys will never understand or rather pretend not to understand that d fall in economic growth nd indices iss a result of the. Sharp fall in prices of oil, nd I repeat no one can perform a better magic in 7 months, from 130dols to 30dols! Haba, d decline is much, nd we must feel d pinch! I trust with careful nd strategic planning and diversification, I trust d present administration to surmount d challenges, nd d country will come out better for it! |

ShowYourCertificate:I pitty the likes of you hating for no reason. As far as i am concerned, she is the best so far , probably after Chief Awolowo. My reasons are: She is the first to make 30% allocation for capital projects in the last 25years In the face of dwindling revenue, she refused to borrow to pay salaries, yet she did not owe any federal worker She looked inwards to raise more revenue through stamp duty and with an insignificant amount that everybody can afford, yet it has shored up FG's revenue in the meantime. She quickly pruned down her bills by removing ghost workers running into billions of naira to achieve spending efficiency She is the first minister of finance that does not bow to pressure to devalue naira and has kept our foreign reserve despite our unfavourable balance of trade due to international low prices of oil. She has been applying her knowledge accurately on our needs and not the desire of IMF or World Bank. There are many more but let me stop. If she could achieve this now, I am sure she will manage our period of plenty better than madam puffpuff that wasted 6 years of plenty and is now preaching 10% VAT that she could not achieve when they were looting us but now that people at suffering and the economy is battered by her inefficiency, she wants us to pay 10% VAT and kill the economy as the prices of items will go North. She will achieve more. |

great idea. Like. Some one said above, we need an approach of ceteris paribus. When light, policy, road, taxation and many are in place, the investors and contractors will do well. I hate it most when you see government not regulating the taxation bodies whose excesses are causing havoke in the economy. They should understand that we nigerians are no longer jambites. We have graduated that the needful should be done nd not all these paper buhaha |

udemzyudex:In not spending, they create the impression of saving so they can have huge billions to declare as 'saved' compared to the 'wasteful spending' of the previous administration. It doesn't matter to them though that they owe people who have done legitimate business. |

ShowYourCertificate:My dear, somethings are just not within your 'wheelhouse'. Every Tom, Dick, and Harry is aware of the debts owed, and the cancellation/suspension of some contracts -- if you don't, then this thread is definitely flat-out beyond your comprehension (lookup the word 'common-knowledge') FG to inject N350bn to stimulate economyhttp://www.leadership.ng/news/511359/hope-rises-oil-price-hits-41pb When Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola said the Federal Government owes N1.0 trillion to road contractors handling over 200 on-going projects in the country during the 2016 budget defense session the other day, that staggering amount of debt actually should stagger the mind of any Nigerian. But the fact that the projects are on-going and that the original debt was three time that amount, meaning that government has already paid N2.0 trillion or about 66.67 per cent of the real contract amount is some comfort, albeit in need of explanation.http://allafrica.com/stories/201603210245.html I'm thinking we should ask you to "showyourcertificate" |

freeze001:The post does not indicate that the Federal govt are owing contractors, rather it is urging contractors who might have dropped some of their workers as a result of unfavorable economy to re-engage them. That is to ensure that jobless Nigerians have jobs. Not Fed govt bribing contractors as u said. Having a formidable structure that will douse any economic malaise starts the citizens being gainfully employed then a structure falls in line spontaneously. |

989900:I was referring to the news on this thread (punch newspaper) and not another link (leadership newspaper). Anyway, you were right about the money being paid in part to owed contractors as I have read that of leadership newspaper. You win . But I still believe it's a cosmetic approach as every contract has an expiry date thus the workers would be laid off thereafter. We need a more pragmatic approach in tackling our economy. You're asking for my certificate? Well, let Buhari show his first ![]() |
