it may be a 2002 Toyota sienna but there is no 2002 sienna MODEL YEAR so it is the same model . the MODEL YEAR is 1998 to 2003 you can tell me that you saw a pig grow wings and fly I may believe you, but if you tell me that an OBD2 compliant car has no VSS but uses the wheel speed sensor in place of it, that one na lie, pure lie, especially when it is Toyota, don't you know that these are standards set by the ASE? And they must abide by it. What happens when the car is on a slippery surface when the wheel speed is not the same with the vehicle's speed. chain sorry any my battery is almost discharged. beyond for now. |

Cocoduck, I'll agree with gazzuzz on many fronts here. My wife's car once had an ABS light. Physical testing with a meter shows that ABS is fine. Scanning showed that front LH ABS is open. I remembered gazzuzz insisting I change that sensor. I wasn't so comfortable then, because I felt multimeter picked nothing wrong. I eventually complied, and brought down that ABS, and realised the ABS had a broken teeth, hence a multimeter had a correct reading, but a scanner picked a code. Now, a small scanner showed just a VSS code, but the professional scanner showed the specific wheel that has the issue. You made a statement up there that what if sensor is working but not sending signal to PCM, I'll say a scanner should give you an idea of where the problem is. The way I see it, gazzuzz only insisted that the VSS is not on the transmission of that particular car, on one of your earlier posts here, you emphatically said the guy can go check for the VSS on the transmission. That seems to be the initial bone of contention. Car talk is meant to be for enlightenment, and not a show of ego of who knows more. You have a problem with the gentleman, man up and settle with him directly, not on a faceless forum. |

cocoduck:That's the white towel. Case closed. I know some vehicles get their speed from the ABS, but never knew the 2000 Sienna was one of them! @Gazzuzz, test bulb and meters are ancient and modern though. They could save you a hell lot of butt kicking. |

Cocoduck ...? The name is new to me in car talk section. and for how long has he/she been a mechanic? his argument was off point. the next thing, he started talking of throwing parts at a car. e remain make him begin to use terms, terminologies and slogans wey them teach am either for automedics or where ever.(first sign of an over zealous newbie) _ And to talk of Gazzuzz, he's such a patient guy. took his time amidst clients waiting to be attended to just to educate the stronghead. I really admire that cos me for don ignore the JJC since "God created the Heaven n Earth." Una weldone. |
