I recently took on a job, about few days ago (less than two weeks), as a office assistant/ Computer operator at an office located at Ojudu Berger. This is partly because I had just finished the just concluded Jamb utme examination and I was less-busy at home and I needed to develop work ethics and gain professional experiences that would be vital in future. There are TONs of stuff you have to learn while being in this position & I was doing great making photocopies, taking passports, and even helping out in typying. When we are less busy, My boss comes for a chat with my co-workers﹑ which they eagerly and actively participate but I don't. Not because I do not like my Boss or I'm avoidant, but I prefer being at peace with my thought and value my personal space. Then I noticed after few days, Her behaviour and mood towards me changed for the worse as she shouts at me and insults me if i make mistakes, Ofcourse, That's not a problem, but the hurtful part is she hurls insult on my personality. She says to me "You stand there like mumu'', 'Dondie'', 'Lookie lookie like deaf and dumb' e.t.c .
But today at work, I made a mistake with taking a passport photograph due to the fact that the pressure was much coupled with the over-crowded enivironment. She instantly got annoyed and said she can't tolerate a dull and mumu person and that I'm too dull. She said I should leave.

I was pissed because I had not been given a chance to learn everything needed to know Yet. I think this was really unfair since I was not even given a chance to improve. She said blame me for being an "observer", but she had to let me go.

I'm not sad this happen but this had triggered my incentiveness and challenged me the more. I'm even courting an idea of developing a start-up.

Best of luck with the new start-up business

I don't think you have any cause to worry. That’s life for you. A lot of things might be responsible for your boss actions but the only one am so sure of is that she felt insecure. I am introverted myself and over time I have come to realize that people especially those who know very little about you tend to be scared of you especially if you are the smart type. This is because it's very difficult to predict you, as such in the case of your ex boss, she cannot put you under a total control. If you are the author of this post, it means you have a lot of potentials. Having the courage to post about your sack just moments after tells me a lot about your emotional maturity, and that is typical of introverts. Just move on and pursue your startup idea. It’s never too early to start a business, and never too late. I wish you the best!

I think your former boss is an @sshole.

like they say, give people a little power and authority and you will see their true personality. most people will fumble if given such position.

she could have decided to mentor you and train you up, but decided to act like she knows tomorrow.

well, move on. and learn from that experience so that when you are in a position of power you'll know what to do.

oh BTW, nothing is wrong with your personality. introverts tend to catch important details that others miss and they have more tenacity and lasting power than extroverts who blunder around and get tired easily.

Work experience number 1.

At least u can add that to your cv but den U have to improve on yourself n note that if you really want to learn anything at any work place, you have to work at the bolded....U can't learn anything new by keeping to urself

Goodluck

Any experience dat doesn't make u means dat u av not learn
Are you sure?
Extroverts learn by asking questions even before you start talking sometimes incessant and very annoying questions. In my class I've witnessed lecturers shushing them up for asking things way out of the part the lecturer is taking.
Meanwhile, introverts learn by observing, applying, then when they don't get it they ask questions that's why, the fact that he just got there I think he was in his observation stage.

Where your problem lied was not because you were introverted but because you had a Choleric as a boss. Choleric tend to hate introverts and are unforgiving towards them. When you have them as a boss, they would prefer you engage in their activities and would readily consider you an outcast if you don't choose to. WE hate introverts and it wears us out. Cholerics detest passive people and you found yourself working under one. Sorry.

Let me give you this example. I am a social introvert. That means I can have a social life, but at work I am very serious minded because I have to be very objective at that job. And naturally when I have to use my brain, I become very very introverted because I put all into it. Now, some years ago I had this boss that hated my quiet nature and turned all coworkers against me. Guess what? I was the only one that discovered that boss was stealing. He was using other employees to steal and they were blinded by loyalty and gist. They didn't even know he was using them to steal and conceal. So imagine? In all this I was as quiet as a mouse till when he tried to bury me and I dug his grave, bought him posi, and saw his back walking out of that organization. I later took his position and ascended above my colleagues to become their boss. Management loved me die, as I saved them a lot of money. I also improved efficiency and brought in so many new processes.
I tell you this so you can build confidence in who you are and focus on the things that matter. Also do your best always and your work will always always speak for you. Though smiling here and there and greeting wouldn't hurt you.

Know when to perform when you have to. And do it excellently well. Like when you have to present or defend situations and explain things that you need to. Always be on point when the situation demands.

Just imagine the rubbish you encouraged a young chap with! "Team work is not everything?" Now I know why some youths are jobless. An introvert looking for his "personal space" in a work environment. He would have been better off with a vacation to Fiji! Introverts should learn to flow with the trend. I would readily put off someone under me if I get to read his mind and I see "I like my personal space". Don't encourage him to read books that would only tell him his introverted nature would open the gateway of heaven but rather, encourage him to work on his interpersonal skills with others, particularly in a working environment.

You wanted experience and you've gotten it. Learn from it. I started work after school in a company where there were over 500 employees and almost all were Caucasians. Instead of withdrawing into my shell, I learned quickly how to relate with them and their various personalities. At your next job, move outside your comfort zone and talk with people.

she fired you in less than two weeks?

Now, ignore all those saying it's your fault. Even an extrovert can't just walk up to a new working environment and start getting chatty with co-workers and the boss. He'll need a little time to acclimatise himself with the environment.

Your boss (or ex boss as the case may be) is the immature one here.
Hauling insults on an employee that has barely stayed two weeks was way too immature.

If she didn't like your cool, she should have called you aside and told you, at least.

She's the one with the personality problem. And she's the one who needs to learn how to deal with people of different behaviours if she wishes to remain a boss for long.

Mere courtesy requires that she tells you what you're doing wrong, and that she gives you up to a month to catch up. After all, she must have screened you before hiring you.

For jobs like that, there's usually a probationary period after which it will be decided whether you're retained or not.

When I did this job, I wavered at first, but my employers were patient with me. And within a month I got a hang of the whole thing. We also understood one another better. And yes, I was introverted just like you.

Even me won't employ you! I am an introvert, born and brought up a loner....my only friends while growing up were my siblings, especially my two immediate elders, but I am so awesome in communication once there's need to.

I make sure I am very vital wherever I find myself. Not contributing to conversation around u makes u appear like a sadist, a bad person per se.

What won Barrack Obama US presidency isn't because he's too intelligent but simply because he can speak very well and make people smile with his WE CAN DO IT words.

The same way, most men can't marry a lady that can't contribute to discussion, can't talk effectively, can't smile....just sit down de look....such lady will be taken advantage of because she will only be considered good for sexual satisfaction alone.

No business owner who wants to drive more sales and increase his customer base will employ someone like u unless the position requires a deaf and dumb job role, so work on yourself abeg
