It's a good instinct not to go again that's my opinion. The first time I saw incidents of tooth removal was in a general hospital. I witnessed a number of inhuman treatments. There was this one dental nurse that was very rude to one full grown man who was screaming on top of his voice because of his teeth that was removed. All the nurse could find to say was "see how old man like you is shouting like a child. I beg keep quiet". In one of the rooms there was one senior doctor who was also inspecting the drugs and equipment in that room. He saw drugs that was expired like 2 years back and he was showing the attending doctor the drug and the reply he got was "the drug is still working well on patients". I was shocked. Worse yet the senior doctor took away some of the expired drugs and still left some others.

That experience got me scared of pulling off my teeth. In later years I had a changed of mind when I went to one private hospital. The doctor was kind and very attentive to me. He allayed my fears and I gave up my hesitancy and allowed the doctor to work on my teeth. The doctor and the nurse was so nice during the treatment. In fact the pains were barely noticeable although i screamed once in a while but it was not really out of the physical pain but the buried fear in me.

I wonder could my experience be of any help to you?

I went to a private specialist hospital and was calm the whole time. A doctor's bedside manner is extremely important. I had to call our family doctor for a recommemdation and was glad I did. He gisted with me throughout the entire procedure and was professional. I went for a follow up sometime afterwards.

We all had our share of languish in gaol in the nairaland prison. Some of us were not as lucky to have camaraderie in our time. (by some of us I mean me )

Private hospitals seem to be considerate and careful then.

Stop trying to be poetic. Gaol and prison mean the same thing.


I doubt that you have been banned for saying the right thing to power. You might have been banned but I doubt it would be for speaking the truth to power and corruption.


You might not remember but we had a discussion about doing greater things for Nigeria. You beat your chest saying that you're some kind of activist for change and I as usual, was skeptic and pointed out that you hardly took part in complaining against the numerous abuses of power by christian mods.

This has been my bone of contention with you- you always promote yourself and gas up your righteousness but your words and actions always point to the opposite.


My point? You are no comrade in the nairaland prison.

I clearly stated that there are good doctors in Nigeria who are nice to patients BUT THEY ARE FEW.

There is a huge problem in the Nigerian health sector where doctors and nurses treat patients aggressively without smiles. They do their work but they demean the patients as if the patient is troubling them. This all starts from their university training.

You as a doctor should even be speaking out more, rather than trying to use style to cover up. Or maybe you think I dont live in Nigeria.

Nobody can ever insult someone else unless you give them permission for it. Please calm down and chill. We all know that LB has his own outspoken style, he has some allergies and they sometimes act up, as a doctor you can show compassion with that. The thing is, there is always some truth in what he says, but he always pushes things too far so that little is left of the truth of the message. Use his feedback as a vehicle to bring you further, not to annoy you. Don't care about your reputation here. It is not written by LB but by yourself. So keep your head up high.
