ANYTHING can be bought with money; after splashing N2.13Trillion on petroleum importers in 2011 alone, even the devil himself couldn't have stopped fuel from being available in those locust years. The situation has changed today; there is no money to splash around and the people in authority aren't willing to splash money (even if there was).

I specifically referred to 2011 cos that is when the real show of shame reached the heights. At least N1trillion was splashed in each of those years though, but they weren't as bad as 2011 cos the eyes of the FG were already opened to the games of the import cabal. Unfortunately, there is a problem today cos even the little funds to 'settle the boys' isnt available any more.

how much was crude oil price that period?
if nigerians were pained that too much monies were being spent on cabals in terms of subsidy, why did they occupy ojota kicking against removal of subsidy in 2012?

OP, If you have short memories, others don't. I remember fuel selling for N400 last year April when practically almost all business from banks to telecoms to airlines shut down operations.

And that happened under the leadership of Diezani that you're singing her praises now.

In a way you might be right. She did it better than two men by making us buy fuel at record price in history of Nigeria.

N2.1 trillion was for the year 2011. It had nothing to do with prevailing oil prices cos investigations revealed that most of the moneys were just fraudulently diverted by enemies of Nigeria without the FG uttering a word or lifting a finger. The protests at Ojota were mainly because the government showed absolutely no commitment to go after the perpetrators who at the time were all known.

corruption is a collaborative act, the people u think are the perpetrators may not even benefit much from it.
so going after people when the main way to defeat the scourge of corruption in that sector once n for all was for discontinuation of subsidy which d govt of that period did.

Of course, the government needs to spend to stimulate the economy and it is obvious there isn't much money to spend this time. However, we must only advocate for wise/responsible spending.

There are certain things you do that give people the hope in your choices and policies. No doubt, ending the subsidy regime would have stopped the thievery, but the FG should have bought the trust of the people by at least showing a sign that they were going to go after the perpetrators. You don't just ask Nigerians to tighten their belts while you wine and dine with the very real culprits in full public glare.

There's no country that you won't find corruption, though in some countries it is reduce to the minimum, however corruption also have a good role to play in the economy growth.



Buhari should stop claiming to be a saint when he is also corrupt, he should start making things work.
