It depends on your tribe. For igbos the man pays to the last cent. But in yoruba land, the girl's family sponsors the wedding. |

Have a discussion with your fiancee and come up with a budget for the trad/white wedding. To the best of my knowledge the bride's family does the trad while u r responsible 4 d main wedding's reception. But if u can afford to do both, why not?. Got married 4 yrs ago, planned wt my spouse, drew a budget together. We agreed my family wil do the trad while he does the white wedding ceremony.Last minute they dumped everytn on us.Had a colourful wedding wt my family picking 99% of d bills. He earns more than i do,he is 8yrs older than i,he is from a wealthy family while both my parents r retirees.I NEVER FORGAVE HIM OR HIS FAMILY. |

In Igboland, it's the brides family that is responsible. They are hosting in their house, so it's their responsibility to carter to guests and the Inlaws |

[quote author=martin123 post=11367624]Traditional marriage generally is the time you fulfill the necessary requirements. Depending on where your bride comes from, there may be a specified minimum amount you have to provide for food. Your inlaw will provide food and drinks but not extras like audiovisuals. |
