It's not Panama Papers that will tell us who and who is corrupt in our country. We know them. Since the days of Oketie-Eboh, corruption has reigned supreme.

This useless Dallas whoever should STFU and mind his fvking business, and respect our beliefs and religion. We will continue praying to whoever we feel like and in whatever way we feel like.

And as for the corrupt people in Naija, including me the days of brutal judgement are coming. What Buhari is doing now is child's play. When that time comes, y'all will see hell on Earth.

It's a good thing to know that we've started a good war on corruption, even though it has K-leg.

Shy, how ya doing? smiley

Been hitting my head on the wall since trying to understand what the main objective of this "leak" is & ain't making no headway (pun intended) cheesy

Oya school ya sis.... Internet didn't throw up nothing & I know berra than to ask folks around, we don't know things that aren't "party" related here.... Oya shoot.. wink
Err, I don't really want to get too deep into it on here. However, when you go to the official website of the company behind "Panama leaks" (https://www.occrp.org/en/panamapapers/overview/under-scrutiny/), you would see the list of those funding them at the bottom on the right - USAID and Open Society Foundation.

USAID is the United States' agency for it foreign policy to protect US interests, hiding under charity/AID organisation and Open Society Foundation is owned by George Soros. George Soros is a megalomaniac and one of the most powerful men in America and he's one of the biggest advocates for regime change in Russia and a voice of US' total domination of the world.

Let's just leave who George Soros is out of it. But why would an organisation, which is meant to be an independent one trying to expose people get funding from USAID, which is more or less the US government and, a character like George Soros?

Yes, they're exposing some people. But those being exposed are the ones they can do away with as collateral damage. They won't expose the real rogues who're mostly Americans and a lot of powerful folks serving American interests. They also didn't get their main target.

Regardless, naij folks on the list should be made to face the law. But the whole thing is just nonsense - it's a US government thing, nothing independent about it and it's more of a well orchestrated media war than a "leak".

Nigerians 'praying' As The World Is Outraged Over 'panama Papers Leaks'

While chains of reactions are now trailing the latest revelation of fraudulent activities of some wealthy people through the Panama Papers Leaks, some Nigerians are still unperturbed about the issue that is drawing global concerns.

First casualty is the former Prime Minister of Iceland, Sigmundur Davíð Gunnlaugsson, who was disgraced out of office over the revelation that he and (or) his wife had interest in a company under scrutiny.

The leaked documents from the Mossack Fonseca law firm in Panama reveal Gunnlaugsson and his wife, Anna Sigurlaug Pálsdóttir, bought a British Virgin Islands-based offshore company, Wintris Inc, in December 2007 to invest her share of the very substantial proceeds from the sale of her father’s business, Iceland’s only Toyota importer.

Gunnlaugsson sold his 50% stake to his wife for a symbolic $1 at the end of 2009, eight months after he was elected to parliament as an MP for the centre-right Progressive party. He failed, however, to declare an interest in the company either then or when he became prime minister in 2013.

In Nigeria, Ex Governor of the oil rich Delta State, James Ibori, President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and his predecessor, David Mark, are public officers named so far in the Panama leaks but there seem to be very little concern by Nigerians.

Dallas, USA based real estate expert, Ejike Okpa, is concerned that the revelation which is a function of deep rooted corruption in the country is not stirring enough 'anger' from the citizens.

"But Nigerians should be outraged that their money is stashed away while they are made to endure rounds of NO LIGHT, NO WATER, BAD ROADS, ARREARS OWED Civil servants, crumbling nation with no infrastructure to speak to.

"However the people are starving but smiling preferring to scream in "In Jesus Name" and "Mighty Name of Jesus", while they are fleeced by their leaders who also enjoin them to pray for them to be successful as they rob them."

Mr. Okpa who was once a Republican Dallas Mayoral Candidate, took a quick swipe at those who at all times find pleasure in giving recognitions to 'corrupt' public officers and could go to any length in defending them.

"And guess what, Nigerians pray for their leaders to keep stealing from them, often rewarding them with front row seats in church and places of worship. That is how they roll in Hail Thee Nation.

"But never mind, in the world most populous black Nation where they 'Hail Thee' but live in Raging Hell. The apologists and sympathizers will find reasons that it is nothing to worry about."

He ended his post which he shared with an online group with a seeming call to action.

"Maybe so, but Thank God for internet and willing journalists who took the risk to unearth the wicked conducts of those who ought to serve their nation.

"Now, what are you going to do it about it?"

Lol. When there is no fuel, no light, no water. A hungry man doesn't think of his rights but survival. Let this government provide the basic necessity for human survival first then we can collectively eschew corruption. Tired of this half fight of acclaimed corruption. All we provide room for in the justice system of this country is "double jeopardy".

The reason why Nigerians are not angered is simple.........we have allowed corruption to be part and parcel of our society. From the small child of 5 at nursery to the old mama at the village, we think its normal, hence we are not moved by it. Until we as a people first come to terms and first acknowledge we have a problem, we cannot fix.

Some may be offended, but its the harsh reality.
Nigerians worship wealthy individuals regardless of how the wealth was accumulated.

Anyone interested in seeing through the farce that these "Panama leaks" are about can read the article written about it by the former UK Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Craig Murray, which I'll post on this thread. Also, with Nigeria, since most of the big players and most corrupt people are linked with US interests and Rockefeller foundation - I don't think they'll release their names. Saraki is a pawn on the chessboard, hence his name was published. Ibori is inconsequential. You can't do anything about the Coker guy cos he always declare his UK assets and that was what the "leaks" revealed. The fake dead, Alamaisagha's name was also cited on Guardian UK and you can't go after a man that's officially dead.

They'll most likely reveal the names of a few dissidents in the opposition or some minor folks as collateral damage, but I doubt they'll reveal any big names in Nigeria.

This is the article:

Corporate Media Gatekeepers Protect Western 1% From Panama Leak

Whoever leaked the Mossack Fonseca papers appears motivated by a genuine desire to expose the system that enables the ultra wealthy to hide their massive stashes, often corruptly obtained and all involved in tax avoidance. These Panamanian lawyers hide the wealth of a significant proportion of the 1%, and the massive leak of their documents ought to be a wonderful thing.

Unfortunately the leaker has made the dreadful mistake of turning to the western corporate media to publicise the results. In consequence the first major story, published today by the Guardian, is all about Vladimir Putin and a cellist on the fiddle. As it happens I believe the story and have no doubt Putin is bent.

But why focus on Russia? Russian wealth is only a tiny minority of the money hidden away with the aid of Mossack Fonseca. In fact, it soon becomes obvious that the selective reporting is going to stink.

The Suddeutsche Zeitung, which received the leak, gives a detailed explanation of the methodology the corporate media used to search the files. The main search they have done is for names associated with breaking UN sanctions regimes. The Guardian reports this too and helpfully lists those countries as Zimbabwe, North Korea, Russia and Syria. The filtering of this Mossack Fonseca information by the corporate media follows a direct western governmental agenda. There is no mention at all of use of Mossack Fonseca by massive western corporations or western billionaires – the main customers. And the Guardian is quick to reassure that “much of the leaked material will remain private.”

What do you expect? The leak is being managed by the grandly but laughably named “International Consortium of Investigative Journalists”, which is funded and organised entirely by the USA’s Center for Public Integrity.

Their funders include:

Ford Foundation
Carnegie Endowment
Rockefeller Family Fund
W K Kellogg Foundation
Open Society Foundation (Soros)

among many others. Do not expect a genuine expose of western capitalism. The dirty secrets of western corporations will remain unpublished.

Expect hits at Russia, Iran and Syria and some tiny “balancing” western country like Iceland. A superannuated UK peer or two will be sacrificed – someone already with dementia.

The corporate media – the Guardian and BBC in the UK – have exclusive access to the database which you and I cannot see. They are protecting themselves from even seeing western corporations’ sensitive information by only looking at those documents which are brought up by specific searches such as UN sanctions busters. Never forget the Guardian smashed its copies of the Snowden files on the instruction of MI6.

What if they did Mossack Fonseca database searches on the owners of all the corporate media and their companies, and all the editors and senior corporate media journalists? What if they did Mossack Fonseca searches on all the most senior people at the BBC? What if they did Mossack Fonseca searches on every donor to the Center for Public Integrity and their companies?

What if they did Mossack Fonseca searches on every listed company in the western stock exchanges, and on every western millionaire they could trace?

That would be much more interesting. I know Russia and China are corrupt, you don’t have to tell me that. What if you look at things that we might, here in the west, be able to rise up and do something about?

And what if you corporate lapdogs let the people see the actual data?

^^^All US companies linked to the US government. So it's more or less a US government initiative.

I personally think the most negative thing westerners imported to African is religion , not because it's bad in itself but mostly because they did not teach us how to use for our development or we Africans found a way to turn every positive situation to negative.

It`s the job of Nigerian activists to mobilize at times like this, but which activists do not have an empty stomach right now? Poverty makes many things impossible, so it`s difficult to be blaming Nigerians for not taking to the streets. I have said it before and I would say it again that, Nigeria is going to be a project for a special few sooner or later. Where we are today dates back to June 12 palaver, so Nigerians are tired and deflated.

Another thing is that Nigeria is huge. Iceland has a population of over 300,000 so it is very easy to make things happen in an environment like that. Also important to point out that London has more names on that list more than any other countries in the world yet they are not taking to the streets yet.
Re: Panama Papers Leaks: Nigerians 'praying' As The World Is Outraged by McSterling(m): 4:43pm On Apr 07, 2016
That's all we know how to do in this part of the world- pray and do nothing. We have been undergoing very harsh conditions and seeing stark corruption since the pre-panama papers days, so this revelation doesn't shock us at all. It's the Westerners that can be shocked. We have lost that ability, sadly.

So the only money that could save Nigeria, give power and end fuel scarcity has to come from repatriated funds and investments made by thieves? What a pathetic thing to tell about.

That's the reason nobody likes the current government. So Mr Bihari had thought nothing of increasing government coffers, in fact, he campaigned to be president in order to retrieve funds that the country has been surviving without all this time, because the ONLY way the country will turn around is by recovering stolen loot? Inconceivable.

And so it becomes apparent with every new revelation that Nigeria is being led by a &%#!$!
