What stops all these politicians from just including the Rail project AGAIN and signing the budget instead of making needless noise ? Such a disgrace.

The Senator said it was not included in the Budget that was sent from the Executive. It was added later and was sent to a sub-committee not to the Clerk.

All these ones na stunt. Amaechi have forwarded a script to this senator today so that he can rub minds with his colleagues. After all, he is the only person who knows this.

There's no way they would have brought the amendment through the right channel that other law makers and even the speaker will not know.

Look, anyone with neutral view can easily see through this.

My own is that they should get that project started. We must also commend vanguard news for blowing the whistle.

Sorry to disappoint you. It is not a Nairaland thing. It is a Nigerian thing. I pass the street and hear these guys arguing against themselves. Most times in support of these Criminals called Politicians.

You will find a Politician who did nothing but loot his people, yet they will come out in droves to support him.

While we insult each other we fail to highlight the salient points.

The Honorable Minister while defending the budget to the committee of land transport presented a supplementary budget to them.

That is the point in contention.

Question: Is that the way to resend budget to NASS? Is it appropriate for Amaechi to send the updated copy of the budget to just the committee while excluding the other members of NASS? Isn't there a due process for this kind of correction or amendment. Was it followed? Is it reasonable to assert that since the committee on land transport had been provided with a fresh budget, therefore the entire members of NASS had been provided the details?

Simple accounting and finance knowledge would tell you that assuming Total T remains the same, once X is credited somewhere, same X must be debited somewhere else.

What did Gbenga Ashafa do when he was presented with a budget different from that presented to his colleagues?

The wailers are quick to say FG is confused while the zombies are quick to point fingers at SS/SE.

What a shame! This whole freaking drama is a shame.

Thank you bro. I really wondered why most Nairalanders are not reading between the lines before taking positions. What we have unfolding before our eyes is disagreement between PDP and APC on how to budget for looting spree in 2016. Character is like smoke....in the next few weeks we will start knowing that the difference between APC and PDP is just alphabets.

I am so glad this has attracted national attention. Those against and those for. But one things is clear, everyone is asking our leaders to be proactive and up and doing.

Secondly, the chairman on land and transportation has come to say it was included in the amended budget, a simple approach to all this is simple amendment by the NASS. We should bear in mind that the presidency insisting to have it in the budget means we'll for nigeria. So, both party should do the needful.

Another, we need to draw the attention of NASS is the removal of AIDS drugs from the budget. They need to visit it as well.

If the Calabar-Lagos route is included in the budget, and completed, the wailers will say Jonathan started it.

The issue is, was a supplementary budget submitted for the rail project or not?

Did the Land Transports Committee receive the inclusion or not?

Did the committee submit the budget to the Appropriation Committee or not?

Was the project fraudulently removed by some legislooters from the final approved budget or not?

Now, look yourself in the mirror.

When a man is said to be wise it means that sometimes he just needs to be seen and not heard just like in this case all you had to do was read up and then continue playing the ludo you were playing originally and not make an obviously sub intelligent remark like the one above.

A lot of nairalanders who read your post suddenly had an IQ surge of +100 while yours dropped by -250.

My advice to you now is simple..... speak no more on this issue as all you would say would still be sub intelligent.

Passingshot, let's keep sentiment apart, if indeed everybody involved here played their parts well, why would any right thinking law maker expunge such a critical project from the budget? I have tried to figure what the motive is because both houses are controlled by the rulling party, I have also failed to see the possibility of any politicking cos I do not see the benefit for all involved to play politics with this. Personally, what's your conclusion?

You are trying to be too technical sir, budget is all about planning, somethings can be removed or added before it is passed, that is why the executive and legislature need to work together as they have same objectives for the nation. Reason you have a committee too to reflect the wishes of the house. There was nothing wrong in adding a project that will create more jobs for the masses, we bug ourselves too much with unnecessary technicalities, reason we are not growing as a nation

But from what the senator stated above its obvious buhari never submitted the rail project in his initial budget presented to the house. Amaechi now came up with the rail project in his budget defence, is it proper for a minister to come and submit a supplementary budget proposal without going through the executive?? If the project was omitted, is it not proper for the supplementary budget to come through the executive and the president? The senators saying the project was not in the budget cannot be said to be privy to what they never saw at the initial stage! Let's be balanced in our criticism!!!!
