@op... yes people still marry for love...whatever you believe in will work for you... if you believe in love, you'd always attract love... if you believe you can't be loved that a person would only be with you for your money, you'd always attract gold diggers and people that would be after your money and not give a hoot about you

But how many people can love unconditionally in the current clime? grin

I think a lot of folks don't understand the concept of love and unconditional love is rare, hence you see talk about loving someone or being in love with that person. However, when it comes to exhibiting unconditionally, in the form of being a rider till the wheels fall off, they'll opt out and do what's best for them. grin

The fact that someone doesn't want ya money, that doesn't mean the person loves you. There might just be a next quality you possess that the person is attracted to. And once that thing goes, the person will also blow away with the wind.

hey you... will be using this handle...love in itself is unconditional{that is an attribute /characteristics of love}...anything short of this, never was love... you can't love someone because they are attractive that would be lust... now what is prevalent is the idea of falling in love... now that is hinged on some quality about the person.. once the novelty of that quality or whatever it is that attracted you to that person like looks or whatever is no longer there, you begin to resent that person and fall out of love.... Love on the other hand is spiritual...beyond the ephemeral... it is your spirit touching that of your beloved, it breathes life that surmounts whatever challenge of life thrown it's way.. it is that god-essence in us realising our soul mates.. sadly not many people get to experience this type of love

The excerpt in bold corroborates the point I was getting at. The fact that not many people get to experience it, when almost everyone talks about love, adds credence to the fact that it's almost non-existent based on percentages.

Also, I never alluded to attractive - my emphasis is about being attracted to something the person has. It might be how sweet the person is, the demeanour, sense of humour, potentials etc. Once you can actually point to why you're in love with that person, then there's no way it can be real cos love is meant to be something you just feel but can't explain why you feel that way. I'm sure if you're to start asking almost everyone who claims to be in love, they'd tell you why they're in love and that's my point.

This is also a lesson to those that come on Nairaland to post that they want to kill themselves because of their small joystick, or impotence, or due to loneliness etc.
Pastor Nick enjoyed his normal life, more than we ourselves, he does virtually everything a man could do. He never gave up, he used his physique as a way of preaching to the world, that there is hope for the hopeless.
