Just as they have the powers to "tweak" the budget, so does the constitution empowers the president to veto any bill!

At this juncture, all that is left is to count the days to 2019, this present NASS case is a forgone conclusion, Nigeria nor fit see any profit from this transaction, make loss nor too plenty na the only prayer.
Milady throws in the towel! Smart girl!

Even if Saraki was later freed in the Nigerian court of law, we the kwarans know that he swindle our funds which is very obvious if you tour around Kwara state and see the level of poverty in the state. Tell me one benefit of Saraki's wealth in Kwara state. You can't point to a single one. Almighty Allah will re-judge him.
Now you can talk! Coward! When you lots were queing up in front of his fathers with big bowls to collect jollof rice and ram meat, you didn't know you were eating away your destiny. Onijekuje! Ala atenu je!

May be you reason without your brain. How many kwarans is collecting rice at Saraki's house? Do you think coverage of Kwara is Ilorin alone? What of those that are living in offa, omu aran, jebba, kaiama, lafiaji and others are they benefiting from rice too. Meanwhile only 1 out of 20th of population of Ilorin alone is collecting saraki's rice. You better get your fact correctly because I have never collect rice and me and my family will never collect any sort of renumeration from political officials.

The president will not sign it.

Even Nigeria public and civil societies will kill it.
dead on arrival.
unfortunately d public don't make laws but can merely influence it. Talking about assent, if d President refuses to append his signature, 2/3 of the 109 senators will over ride the President's veto & the bill will become a law without d President's signature. So bro, brace up... lolzzzzzz

Lets see how long it takes them to create this bill.

After all they have been unable to produce the Petroleum Industry bill that has been with them for several years.

What of the money laundering Bill sent to them couple of months ago.

They are doing it to stop the slide into dictatorship of the present occupant of Aso rock. It would be restored when a more emotionally stable person occupies Aso rock. They need to amend even the terrorism laws under which Buhari has been clamping his perceived enemies into detention. This is the time to rescue nigeria from an unrepentant tyrant.

We just seem to forget so quickly and easily. History should have taught us better. Many of these senators will for long remain in Nigeria's Hall of Shame. You can buy judgments but you cannot overule the verdict of the people!

pls go and read your constitution on who has the final veto power when it comes to making a law. When the president refused to sign same, the NASS after 30days will call for a joint sitting and if they can pass it again with 2/3 it becomes law and the president assent will not be needed again.
pls read your books, especially the constitution so that u won't be making unguided statements in public forum
Saraki will not win. I don't care who has veto. I am going to National Assembly tomorow if i have to. Saraki Must go. We are mobilizing

Time to march against Saraki.

His time is up.

It is already being organised.

Tampering with our constitution to suit his personal gains is treasonable.

SARAKI OUT!!!

DONSMITH123:
The Senate having resumed from two weeks recess on Tuesday has moved to amend the Code of Conduct Bureau Act and that of Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015, suggesting an effort towards killing the ongoing trial of Senate President, Bukola Saraki.
Rising from over an hour closed door meeting, the Senate President announced at the commencement of Tuesday’s plenary that the Senate discussed on 2016 appropriation budget and the smooth operations of the National Assembly which he put to vote.

“Is it a true reflection of the Senate that 2016 appropriation and the smooth running of the National Assembly were discussed at closed door session?”, he asked.

Though the proposed amendment of Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) and that of Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 did not reflect on the Order Papers that had 6 presentations of proposed bills, the Chief Whip, Senator Bala Ibn N’allah, while introducing the bill did mention that these two bills be considered for amendment, corroborated by Clerk to the Senate on the floor and was subsequently taken.

“Mr Senate President, a Bill for amendment of Code of Conduct Bureau and Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 be taken by the Senate,”N’allah said.

The implication of taking a proposed amendment of any bills means that they can start work any moment.

It is recalled that Nigeria’s Senate President’s case is trapped within the armbit of Code of Conduct Bureau and Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 which was just passed into law by the 7th Senate.

However, Senator Matthew Urhoghide (PDP) irked by the trial of Saraki in an interview with Judiciary Correspondents at the Code of Conduct Tribunal vowed that the National Assembly would amend those Acts which he described as fatal to Nigeria’s Judicial system.

These undistinguished sinnators are the very cog in the wheel of the fight against corruption and inequality in our society. Pray, why do away with provisions that ensures an alleged offender is left with no option than to defend himself in court instead of dribbling the Law silly!

Saraki has not been charged with any act of looting. He is only been charged with a politically motivated charge of false declaration of assets.Besides people like you defended Buhari when he forged WAEC certificates to become president so please you don't have any high moral grounds above me.You are only pissed because Saraki messed up the APC plans of chosing the senate president.

I am yet to hear you condemn corrupt APC ministers like Fashola and Amaechi who have been clearly seen to have soiled their hands
How did he become a general without waec?

to assent the bill or you read your own law in night schools?..

Saraki's desperation will speed up his ouster. He can not fight the presidency headlong with all the cases hanging around his neck. Any wrong move and he would be bullied out of office Obasanjo style

I doubt if PMB will assent such bill, but if he doesn't within the constitutional specified periods, I enjoined the National Assembly members , both the Senate and Reps to do the needfull immediately. No body is too powerful in a democratical govt. be you president or gov. Good Moves senate.

Saraki is also a Northerner and has also gotten 82 senators (more than 2/3) to pass a vote of confidence on him before.Forget Tinubu!! This is national politics
You seriously need to rethink.
Power belongs to the people, NASS would be shutdown by the people before they could attempt to veto the president's decision on the matter. Do not underrate Nigerians on this matter please.
If those in the NASS think that the presidency and the people will just fold their hands and watch them play to the gallery then they have a very long way to go.
NDDC as an example under OBJ happened for two reasons namely:
1. Nigerians didn't have the kind of awareness on political issues that they have now (all thanks to poverty and joblessness, giving Nigerians more time to think of the political happenings in the country) evidenced by the result of the last presidential election where an incumbent was clearly booted out of Aso Villa.

2. Most Nigerians who engaged in politics back in the Obj days were in support of the NDDC just to appease the ND and create a fair system of justice since they are the mitochondria of the country.

Nigerians and the Presidency are neither docile nor stupid.

We are watching.....

i always feel young men like you should have facts before they talk, calling me an APC man make me feel like i should take a legal action against you but because its a mental power tussle i have to put it strai sadght to you that i hate when pple inteprete things that dont go their way as politcal motivation.

for ones we have to exhibit neutrality in all we do so that the young generation will not inherit this uncivilised ways of doing things. sad sad sad

i
rumours:
If Lawan was Senate President as your party APC so desired, do you think you and I will be discussing this Saraki matter here today? Bukola Saraki would have probably become one of the principal officers in the Senate. You know that this Saraki trial is powered by vendetta and vindictiveness rather than the merit of it. That is what 'politically motivated' and witch hunt means. Hypocrisy and double standards everywhere. Na wa o!
