I think the meme should be for you! The project will make south south a consuming region!!! I know what I'm saying!!! for example, go to any shop in bayelsa! 80percent of the contents are either foreign or from lagos, then this time around, it will be 100percent! this will kill every indigenous company in bayelsa.. we Igbos reason with our innermost brain that is designated for business, that's why we are seeing through this joke of a project... it were Abakaliki enugu onitsha Asaba akure sagamu lagos, we will still oppose it.... we know what you are capable of doing...
You're obviously a kid. One place is gonna become consuming whatever, so don't build public infrastructure there undecided

I don't have time for such drivel. Have a good life!

Fresh fish caught in Bayelsa will be available for sale in Lagos in 3 hours.

Containers of "stuff" from Aba will be available for sale and export in Lagos within a few hours.

The traffic between lagos and Kano is much more than that of Calabar to lagos. It is also important to connect the hinter land area of kano to a city like lagos with major seaports.
obailala:
That is exactly my point, I am shell shocked at the reactions of 'some' people who claim to be from the SE and SS and who claim to be defending the interests of the zones since this saga broke. I am very much opposed to the fact that the coastal rail project is being jeopardised and the funds diverted to the Lagos-Kano rail. I expected people of the SE and SS to naturally fight for this injustice to be immediately reversed, and the budget for the coastal rail returned. But that obviously is not the case, most have turned it into a Yoruba vs Igbo tribal war and I am greatly shocked at the reactions I have seen so far which drives me to wonder how any normal human would chose to cut their head off to spite their nose.

If the project funds were diverted to fund seaports or other viable projects in the regions, then it is understandable, but for crying out loud, the funds were diverted to the Lagos-Kano line and some silly constituency projects in the north. My dear, the proverb you dropped is more suited for you and your colleagues who aren't speaking in favour of the reversal of this mess.
Re: Lagos-Calabar Supposed Rail Route Crossing Into SE Is A FAT LIE!!! by NaWetinDey(m):
This is the only thouggful analysis I jave read so far in this.

My observations:

1. If the federal character has been grounded in such a way that SE always loses, then there is still danger lurking and it will affect us all when "we no go gree" becomes defeaning, forceful and carefree. even, once more, to repercussions.
It's the past and present piliticians in these zones who will be held to account in the long run.

2. SS will politically and, possibly otherwise, be wiped off Nigeria by the religiously-engineered gluttonous North and the treacherous SW if SE is finally pinned to the ground.

Regionalism through Federalism is the only way for Nigeria since ethnic and tribal politics have marred it all.

Now...wail, scratch...insult all you want. The truth still stands out.

Both routes service 2 different sets of people. Imagine the traffic between Benin and Lagos alone and you will understand which route is more economically viable.

God bless th Op for this!

Ndi ofe mmanu, una see una life?
The issue of route for the railway was not determined by the Buhari administration. This is a project that had been on the drawing board for years.

This is a coastal railway that traverses all the coastal states in Nigeria. I thought Igbos said they own Port Harcourt (Igwe Ocha as called by IPOB).

If indeed it does not pass through any SE states except Aba in Abia State, does that make it irrelevant as a coastal railway?

Lagos to Kano railway does not traverse the NorthEast region, does that make it useless for the route it runs through? Have the North Easterners demanded for the Lagos Kano railway to be scrapped?

If the SouthEast is not interested in it, how does that affect the benefits derived by the towns that would host the coastal railway?

The Yorubas already have the Lagos to Kano railway traversing their region. If the rest of the South, including the SouthSouth that is to benefit the most, are not interested in the coastal rail, then Buhari should approve the Budget in the manner the Northerners have already redistributed the funds to favour projects in their own region.

No government has to beg any region to accept infrastructure if it is not wanted.

A priority analysis of projects importance in ss n se now z Neva a rail line for exploitative agenda instead of development driven seaport. an d money earmarked for cal- lag rail line project z enough to build a functional seaport in d ss,so y not clamour for a functional seaport n get amaechi n d fg to reroute d earmarked funds for d rail line to a seaport instead.#sayknowtoarailline#,n #sayyestoaseaport#.mbasi mbok.

Understand my point and stop being rude. Why is it just two towns in the entire SE? Meanwhile in other regions you have one or more routes through each state? Is Aba in Abia the only area or city in the whole SE?
so it must pass through 10 towns in the SE before we can believe there is no marginalization, like I said earlier in one of my posts, if am PMB, I won't bother any longer cos nothing seem to please you guys after all even your lawmakers don't care either.
You can now understand what PMB meant when he said "..after all these, what do the Igbos want?"
