PlOOT: It may help if you get the full details from your friend as at the moment everyone is brainstorming on few details. I know that when a visa is cancelled without prejudice it implies that it was cancelled without negative reason (usually when a person changes visa category or is reissued a new visa while a valid visa still exists. In this case there is no issue with reapplying and subsequent applications would be treated based on their merit. I suspect that when it is cancelled WITH prejudice it may mean the exact opposite ie it was cancelled with reason. Your friend is in the best position to determine what that reason was. The only way anyone can guess is if she can share the transcript of her POE interview as well as her visa interview. That reason is essential to her subsequent applications if any. Not sure whether I saw this earlier but has she been in the US before or it was her first time? 1 Like |

PlOOT: Chicago POE has been over flogged as a dangerous POE... I guess you prolly didn't know about this thread prior to your friend's trip. However, get a detailed transcript and post here, also ask your friend how many weeks she travelled at, did she state her intent of coming as childbirth at the onset of interview or the CBP discovered and asked for docs? Pls be honest about everything and the gurus here will help iron this ish P.S..If possibly, people should consider having their babies in other states than Illionois There's nothing special about Chicago with their overzealous custom border patrol After POE interview, POExit interview usually await people Sigh! 2 Likes |

Continuation: CBP @ Abudhabi: why are you going to the US? Husband: My wife and I are going to have our baby. CBP: Why not UK or Canada? Why did you choose the US? Husband: Basically, for better healthcare. This is our first and we won't like to compromise the safety of our baby. As such, we both decided that we Would rather have the baby where we are certain of state of the art medical facilities and also where we are sure that if there is any complication we will get a swift response. CBP: he took my finger prints and pic and asked husband where he works Husband: I own my business. I work as a business IT consultant and bla bla bla CBP: How much are you traveling with? Husband: 7100 and we have our debit cards CBP: Takes husband's finger prints and pic, and said I will have to send you to immigration for further verification. Then he called a number and someone came to get our passports and told us to follow him. Secondary inspection After 5mins at the waiting room CBP: how much do you have with you ? Husband : $7100 and our debit cards which we showed her immediately. CBP: How much do you have on your card? Husband : Equivalent of 13k usd and was about to show her his bank statement but she said nvr mind. CBP: So what do you do? Husband: I'm an IT consultant and he explained what he does CBP: Can I have your complementary card? Husband: I'm sorry I don't have it here but my business reg cert is with me and my tax ID card. She collected all and also asked us to give her our return ticket. Then she said go wait outside. CBP: she came outside to meet us and asked where we intend to stay and we told her. We gave her the reservation and she left with it. CBP: Called us in again and asked why we chose Chicago Husband: Basically when we decided to have our baby in the us, we had two states in mind " Chicago and Houston" ....As such, we went online to look for hospitals with good customer reviews and good Obgyn records. Hence, we decided to use this hospital as the fee is what we can afford comfortably. CBP: did you apply for this visa via dropbox? Husband: No, we went to the embassy CBP: Did you inform the VO about your intention? Husband: yes, we did. CBP: Smiles, says I stamped you both 6 months in case you require more time (we told her 10weeks when she asked). Husband n I: Thank you madam. 21 Likes 1 Share |

PlOOT:,. I just felt for her,People are always warned here to avoid Chicago POE if u can, because they are not preggy friendly POE and because of some bad experiences people got there. I even saw on channels TV today about a report which suggests that Chicago police are racists. Pls its better to avoid that POE than telling the story that touches the heart. 2 Likes |

modath:Which will be a greater disaster? One uses an agent or that after one used an agent, she's sent back and visa cancelled with extreme prejudice? |
Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 4 by modath(f): 9:33am On Apr 15, 2016 |
LadyGuinivere: Using agent isn't even the disaster cos (even Mo sef don dey plan as side hustle ) I've observed that lots of people don't understand how or can't be bothered to fill forms & make enquiries by themselves!! The tragedy is in paying omo go money & still receiving brain resetting "Do not trespass" on top!! Na real gbege! 1 Like |

People need to be smart about certain things. And seriously I don't know why people will see things here and still buy ticket to Houston or Chicago, even if you have bought it the money to change the ticket will not kill us o. I am happy for the people that have shared graceful POE stories from these two places but I think its better not to tempt fate. Abeg fly to JFK biko even if na Arik you go fly and then find your way to anywhere you wan go in the country. Below is a list of the things i carried on my first missionary journey (am not sure if i will remember everything) to serve as guidance for the kind of preparation we need to make so that people will not laugh at us and say 'who send her to go born for america before? People no dey born here?' 1. 9k plus usd 2. Letter of approval for my maternity leave showing that I would be paid during the leave and I had a job to go back to. 3. Letter of employment showing how much I earned 4. Statement of my earnings written by our HR 5. Statement of my husband's earnings from his HR 6. Fixed deposit certification showing a few millions of savings 7. Statement from my salary account showing funds available to be drawn with my card. I had highlighted all payments from my employer (same thing i do when applying for visa) 8. Letter of intention to deliver in the US with the generic response ( i did dropbox renewal) 9.Letter from a hospital in atlanta. Even though i ported in Phoenix, MIHS no dey give letter and i could not be talking stories. Since i was still going to atlanta anyway, i filled my family members' address in Atl. I am not encouraging anyone to be dishonest but wisdom is profitable to direct. You cannot go to POE without some form of evidence as to how much the delivery will cost. In addition, It will be beneficial to make an articulate budget and hold. Also, we should be articulate about where the money to fund the budget will come from. The list above is not by any means exhaustive. It depends on individual circumstances. Goodluck to all. 14 Likes 3 Shares |

Yes now. A friend called me the other day that she stopped by at my place on her way from her colleague's funeral. She died at childbirth in a popular Ikoyi hospital and that the lady wanted to go to America o but wasn't granted visa even though she had a good job. I was like ' I wish she was on nairaland, maybe she would have gottwn the visa' Petdaughter: |

favoredgal: I am not saying that they update any records, do they have time for that self. I am saying that you can't just send a letter without your details. There was a story here of someone that sent the letter of intent without her details, and they wrote back asking for her passport details. |
