Some guys are sometimes calous enough to deliberately engage a lady for fear of loosing her to another man even when he knows that he is not maritally ready. Then you see the lady wearing an engagement ring for close to 3 years. She will even turn to "THE LORD OF THE RINGS"
My question is this, how long is a lady supposed to be engaged before her parents are seen for the actualisation of the marriage rites? Guys how long can you engage her and ladies, how long do you intend to wear the ring?
My opinion is atleast 5 months or less.

what I want you ladies to understand is this..

Because a guy gives you a ring doesn't mean he is going to marry you!!!!

Sometimes it just a sign to show he wants to be serious with you and make things work (in other words an assurance that you are not a side chick) so you guys should stop being desperate

A year should be max, if he isn't ready to wrap it up within a year then no need for the engagement. Just leave it at relationship or courting level.

vizkiz is kinda right.. That a guy puts a ring on your finger doesn't guarantee he would marry you.. In some occasions, he could actually use that to tie you down or he maybe really serious with you..

The truth is, even tho a lady is engaged, that shouldn't make her shun other guys or be harsh to them.. An engagement ring or whatever shouldn't exceed at most 6months..
Before he puts the ring on your finger he should have planned ahead for the necessary rites to make you his wife
