My brothers and sisters...........If you had the power to set the legal "age of consent", what would you do?
By that I mean, would you keep it the same, lower it, or raise it?

In Nigeria and other western countries like Uk, US, is 18 or something like that. Usually if both parties are under 18 then it's ok, but if one isn't and the other is, it's statutory rape. I certainly don't think children should be involved in sex, but I think there's room for the age of consent to come down, really.

So I think my answer would be lower it to 15, because IMO, a 15-year-old would consent to something the same way an 18-year-old would. An 18-year-old's judgment in regards to sex isn't much clearer than a 15-year-old's, if you ask me. 15-year-olds are allowed to work full-time or part-time jobs, and start driving a vehicle... but sex they're not ready for?

What do you think? Would you like to see it raised, lowered, or left the same?
