There is no official confirmation stating we are getting A-29s. American hubris isn't fact. The only official order is for a squadroun (24) Super Mushak trainers to replace the Diamond trainer as the NAF's primary trainer.

I guess it is good news, but good news that should be celebrated with caution. Why is it now that we seem ready to buy East again (from Pakistan) that our fair weather friends from the West have come around again with their 'cosmetic' smiles? Where were they when our over-used Alpha Jets and Mil choppers were unserviceable and Boko haram took full advantage by building a caliphate in our territory?

Now the battle is virtually over and they are offering us a squadron of attack planes. I am willing to bet that if we reject any of their future questionable offers they will quickly make these aircraft unusable by withholding spares etc. We must be guided!!!

A matter for another day, is that our Army must learn that while air support is critical , we cannot afford to be as defenseless as we appeared in the dark days of late 2014 when our boys seemed to flee at the mention of BH. Quality of equipment has been addressed to a large extent, and must never be allowed to fall so low ever again. However very critical is the issue of tactics we must develop alternative tactics for infantry support when there is no air cover e.g. use of artillery cover for maneuvering infantry, use of Armour support, use of well trained/equipped snipers in over watch positions etc.

In other words, NEVER AGAIN!!!

the Embraer Super Tucano isn't brazilian ?? mauritania / sénégal/ burkina faso use them from years i think and mali command 6 A-29 Super Tucano last year and ghana 5 , so i think it would be easy for nigeria to get them , and what about sukhoi 25 and 24 for heavy strick ?

$15 billion stolen in Nigerian arms procurement fraud

Around $15 billion - equal to about half the country's foreign currency reserves - was stolen from Nigeria's public purse under the previous government through fraudulent arms procurement deals, the vice president said on Monday.

Corruption charges have been levelled against former military chiefs and companies accused of involvement in an alleged arms procurement fraud during the tenure of Buhari's predecessor Goodluck Jonathan. They have pleaded not guilty.

The total sum lost to corruption related to the provision of security equipment to the military and amounted to around 15 billion US dollars, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said.

In January, the information minister said 55 people who were government ministers, state governors, public officials, bankers and businessmen stole 1.34 trillion naira ($6.8 billion) over a seven-year period.

The Chief Of Defence Forces Presides Over Specialists Cadets Commissioning Parade

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Samson Mwathethe on behalf of the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces President Uhuru Kenyatta, on Thursday 7th April 2016 presided over the Commissioning of Specialists and Special Duty Officer Cadets at the Kenya Military Academy (KMA) in Lanet, Nakuru.
Speaking moments after reading the Presidential Commissioning Parchment to the officers, the CDF challenged them to face the task ahead of them with diligence, integrity, self sacrifice and dedication, as they had been entrusted with great responsibility following their commissioning. The CDF urged the officers to consider their commissioning as a special bond between them, the president of the nation and the country of Kenya, and guard on this bond jealously. He mentioned that it was paramount that the newly-commissioned officers adhere to the presidential Commissioning Parchment and swearing instructions, which stand as a guide to them in their daily service to the Defence Forces and the country.
The CDF at the same time greatly thanked Kenyans for their support, goodwill and encouragement, terming this as one of the main pillars that kept the entire Kenya Defence Forces going. He noted that had it not been for Kenyans, the Defence Forces would not confidently execute their roles, particularly the roles entrusted on them by the United Nations and African Union on peacekeeping.
The CDF also appreciated and thanked the entire Kenya Military Academy, from its Commandant, officers and even instructors, for the tireless work of preparing the new officers. He urged them to maintain the high level of standards that the Kenya Military Academy is known to possess.
Before addressing the parade, the CDF had recognised four of the Specialists who emerged most outstanding. Senior Under Officer Johnson Ogutu was awarded the best Cadet in Leadership and Command and Winner of Leadership and Command Trophy, while the best among the ladies and Second best Cadet in Leadership and Command and Winner of Leadership and Command, Cadet Adjutant Wilfrida Amondi, received a shield from the CDF for the same. At the same time, Junior Under Officer Robert Tsimba received the best Cadet in Character Development and Winner of Commandant’s trophy, while Junior Under Officer Simon Lele Apeyan was awarded with the Second Best Cadet in Character Development and Winner of Commandant’s Shield.
The newly-commissioned officers that include Doctors, Engineers, Technicians, Architects, Surveyors among other professions, trained at KMA for five months, where the training’s main goal was to prepare them for the military working environment. They now proceed to various Kenya Defence Forces Units to progress their careers and serve the country in their respective fields.
Others present during the function include the Principal Secretary Ministry of Defence Ambassador Kirimi Kaberia, Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant General Joseph Kasaon, Deputy Army Commander Major General Johnson Ondieki, Kenya Air Force Commander Major General Samuel Thuita, Kenya Navy Commander Major General Levi Mghalu, Assistant Chief of Defence Forces (Personnel and Logistics) Major General Samuel Nandwa, Commandant KMA Major General George Owinow, among other senior military officers.

This admin has tended to be very loose with figures, many. of which have not been ever substantiated. It would be nice to see the analysis of what adds up to these figures and what transactions. Where used to move the money.

If the auto-loader in a T72 breaks you cant fix it in anycase - Soviets seperate powder and warhead, and in the T72 the powder is unaccesable. manual over-ride is only on the T62 and then ROF drops down to 1 round per min.

If they had moved the engine to the front and the crew to the back it would have been better yes.

I like it simply because its an excellent upgrade and it increases crew-survivability due to the fact that they are now seperated from the turret and ammunition, meaning that if it "pops its cork" like T72 so often do there is atleast a chance of crew survival.

'Large-scale' ISIS anthrax attack is foiled by police: Three people 'who plotted biological attack in Kenya' are arrested

Kenyan police has foiled a 'large scale biological terrorist attack' after arresting three members of an ISIS-linked terror group.

Three people, a married couple and a woman, allegedly planned 'large-scale attacks' including 'a biological attack in Kenya using anthrax,' Kenyan police said.

Married medical students Mohammed Abdi Ali and Nuseiba Mohammed Haji were arrested along with Fatuma Mohammed Hanshi, after police connected them to a terrorist network.



Ali, Haji and Hansi are allegedly part of 'an East Africa terror group network, that has links to ISIS,' according to Kenya police chief Joseph Boinnet.

Both Ali, the alleged leader of the group, and his wife Haji worked as 'medical interns' while studying medicine at university.

'Ali has been engaged in the active radicalisation,recruitment of university students and other Kenyan youth intoterrorism networks,' a police statement said.

The terror network linked to Ali 'has been facilitating Kenyan youths to secretly leave Kenya to join terror groups in Libya and Syria,' the statement added.


Ali, from Wote, southeast of the capital Nairobi, was arrested in Kenya and is being held in custody for 30 days while investigators gather further evidence.
