Amazing..

NNPC would be the preferred destination. Wait and see what's gonna happen to the rest.
Unless you are still hanged-over with Saturday free booze, I don't see why you can now support what you stoutly condemned in the past.... or could you be acting without knowing it like most of you ZOMBIES?

You can't remove fuel subsidy while importing refined fuel. Fix the refineries first.
The refineries from what I understand are working but their supplies are constantly being cut off by Niger delta militants.

1.Glad you also think badly of GEJ too....since he too wanted to remove subsidy.

2.Subsidy was easy to keep when oil was above $100 per barrel. Now it is below $50 per barrel. We have to save money. Unless you want us to take a loan from the IMF to keep the subsidy......which means more problems later.

Better face the reality. The reason why GSM works well is because OBJ did not bring out a subsidy on GSM phone bills.

Either you have a secret plan to raise oil to $123 per barrel....which is where we need it to balance the books...or we face reality. We should have faced reality in 2012.

Actually, we do not need subsidy to buy @N87/litre if oil prices are very low, as evident some few weeks back when oil was just around $30/barrel . . . then NNPC was not subsidizing us, rather, making between N4-N16/litre on us for every litre of PMS sold at that period.

That is why I come off kinda irritated when folks still ask how can PMS be sold for less than N70/litre when even while importing, storage, and all that BS, it was costing us around N70/litre when oil was just a little over $30/barrel.

Build new refineries, at least two with modern automated systems before thinking of removing fuel subsidy.

I really don't see why we should purchase the by products at higher rate when we own the raw material.

They're working, but not at full capacity. Actually, it is so fluid that placing any specific percentage of production capacity on them would be unwise at this moment . . . but according to Kachikwu, that'd still be at less than 50% capacity, or lesser even.

That said, we didn't elect leaders so a ragtag of militants could come and hold us to ransom, we might as well vote for Tompolo then.

No provision for subsidy in the budget, therefore it is fair to assume that no subsidy exists.

There is going to be need for fuel prices to fluctuate relative to international fluctuations in crude and fuel prices since we are still importing significant proportion of our fuel.

That is why it is necessary to periodically adjust fuel prices, as the government may be about to do.

To continue to talk of subsidy is mischievous and misleading.

Subsidy removal is just a scam. GEJ made us to understand that d money will b channeled on developmental project , where r those projects. Refineries not working optimally. From Obj till now we still battling wt d concept of subsidy, fuel importation, the untouchable cabals. Nigeria is a derailed country.

so what is ur point concerning this baba du llard mata?
Re: Buhari Moves To Remove Fuel Subsidy, Begins Consultation With NASS by dvee2: 11:08am On May 08, 2016
As at the time GEJ was in power , crude sells above 120 dollars, if you factor the cost of crude swap, there is nothing like subsidy just oil cabal inflating figures.

But today, Nigerian crude is being sold for less than 45 dollars, difference of over 50%. the government has already pass a budget without budgeting for extra payment on fuel importation. Therefore, any increase from the current pump price is SUBSIDY. Since the government did not budget for that, this has to be removed. This is the best time to remove subsidy.

subsidy pmt has been one of d major area where government has been looseing revenue to the fuel importers because the subsidy administration itself is characterized with fraud and corrupt practices, several vessels will Barth without content yet subsidy would be claimed, the authorities has fail in carrying out check and balances on any vessel claim to have arrived with imported pms therefore the area has become corruption zone so it's a welcome development if subsidy pmt can be removed absolutely.

Care to point out what exactly was "gallimufry" in what I wrote? How do you expect refining to flourish in Nigeria when private operators aren't able to make a profit?

The answer is simple: their prices are not below N70/litre, which is why it is so lucrative for criminals to hijack refined fuel from Nigeria to sell abroad.

We have to face reality: no matter what the "official" price of petrol may be, nobody is actually getting it at that price without having to do a lot of waiting in long queues in the hot sun with jerry-cans, often with nothing to show for it at the end of the day. Isn't it better to pay the market price for fuel and be sure that you can get it within minutes, rather than wasting so many days of one's life looking for "cheap" fuel that isn't there? Because that is the real situation Nigerians have been facing for years now.

I haven't even mentioned the fact that this same costly fuel subsidy is one major reason why Nigeria saved nothing during the years when oil was $110/barrel, or that keeping it in place will completely blow up the 2016 budget, which already requires substantial borrowing. Would you rather have better electricity transmission and better road/rail links, or see billions poured into fuel subsidies whose main beneficiaries are smugglers and fraudulent importers?

If you think I am wrong in anything I have said, I would appreciate a response that points out the gaps or errors in my reasoning, rather than trading insults or simply accusing me of "gallimufry".
Since crude oil is cheaper now less than $50pb are u telling me if we have our refineries working at full gear we won't make profit selling the crude oil to our system and selling back to the populace at a cheaper price than what we currently have?

Barring any last minute changes, President Muhammadu Buhari will within the next few days officially announce the removal of subsidies in prices of petroleum products, SIGNAL can authoritatively report.

Presidency sources informed about the development told SIGNAL on Saturday that President Buhari has already started consultation with the leadership of the National Assembly and key Labour leaders before the official announcement.

According to the source, “President Buhari has come to terms with the economic challenges associated with government subsidy for petroleum products. The current economic situation of the country, has made it even more imperative to remove subsidy, because it is not sustainable.”

It will be recalled that in July 2015, President Buhari dismissed calls for his government to remove fuel subsidy. According to him, “I have received many literature on the need to remove subsidies, but much of it has no depth”.

Let the government get a task force to check such activities and anyone find culpable should be made to lose his license and entire shipment seized.

this is what the last administration tried to do and APC called them names and mobilised Nigerians against government. The question is, is the government truly subsidizing? Because Nigerians buy fuel higher than the price at international market. I don't know this if government actually had clue of how to fix this country also, is this subsidy stuff not captured in 2026 budget? . Let's give them sometime and see how it will all play out.
Re: Buhari Moves To Remove Fuel Subsidy, Begins Consultation With NASS by worksmart(m): 1:11pm On May 08, 2016
If it is raised to N140 per litre then it is price hike and not subsidy removal.
I personally feel that govt should consider a fuel tax to raise funds that to develop more refineries and fuel outlets. perhaps N100 per litre may be sufficient to achieve this within 2-3 years.

NOR WILL IT EVER BE WELL WITH YOU AND THOSE WHO THINK THE INEFFECTUAL BUFFOON WOULD HAVE PERFORMED ANY BETTER THAN HE DID IN 5 YEARS IN OFFICE.

WITH THE MONUMENTAL FRAUD AND CORRUPTION BEING EXPOSED LEFT, RIGHT AND CENTER AND THOSE STILL YET TO BE EXPOSED THAT OCCURRED DURING THE LAST ADMINISTRATION, THE ONLY THING TO SAY IS: THANK GOD WE HAVE A NEW GOVERNMENT.

THE TRUTH IS THAT THIS GOVERNMENT CAN ONLY BE JUDGED AFTER ITS 4 YRS CONCLUSION.

YOUR HERO, GEJ MIGHT STILL BE PICKED-UP BY EFCC FOR CORRUPTION CHARGES, PLS DONT HOLD YOUR BREATH, YOU MIGHT CHOKE TO DEATH.

NO AMOUNT OF BLACKMAIL OR CONDEMNATION WILL DETER THE ACHIEVEMENT OF NIGERIA'S ROAD TO GREATNESS STARTING FROM THIS GOVERNMENT GOING FORWARD BECAUSE THE PRESIDENCY WILL NEVER GO TO SLOW, EVIL-MINDED, CLUELESS AND INEFFECTIVE BUFFOONS AGAIN. NEVER!

FYI: PMB WAS THE PETROLEUM MINISTER WHO BUILT THE 3 MAJOR REFINERIES DURING OBJ'S MILITARY TENURE IN ABOUT 3 YRS. AND YES, PMB CAN DO IT AGAIN AS CIVILIAN PRESIDENT.
LET US GIVE HIM A CHANCE.

BETTER YET, ADVICE YOUR FATHERS, UNCLES, COUSINS AND RELATIVES WHO STOLE OUR YAMS TO RETURN THEM TO THE FGN BEFORE MAGU AND EFCC COMES AFTER THEM.

You might want to make your points without falsehoods. Buhari did not build any refinery though he was the petroleum minister when - if memory does not fail me, Warri refinery was built during OBJ's military tenure which BTW, works were already on ground. This topic has been discussed many times here on Nairaland with appropriate sources, image clips from newspapers and other verifiable source. You may want to search through. . . Thank you.
