Appreciating someone who served as the gate to wherever you are in life is no crime.

Let's learn to be thankful, grateful and appreciative for both molehill and mountain blessings.

Actually, it was a lot easier to get a visa in 1984. You'd have to be really wayward to get a refusal. Back then life was still correct in Nigeria. People actually used to send money from Nigeria to sustain those in the USA unlike the reverse we have today. Good to appreciate the woman but it wasn't a big deal back then.

Your comment reminds me of the time I heard an elder describe how he got US visa in 1982. Cheap, simple, no issues.

Of course...back then the country people wanted to go to was the UK. US was not ''that popular''

In those three decades their country moved forward while our country moved backward.

Rubbish! is it the visa or America that made him successful?...without his artistic skills he would have been a taxi driver and if unlucky would been dead by now don't ask me how, ask those hard working Nigerians who met cold death in doing a honest job in America. It is sad because for every 50 Nigerian lives that get cut short or destroy we hear one good story.....Tell me 1/50 is A1 and I'll celebrate with you.

I was denied in 1986 and I wasn't wayward.

No worries I'm a USC now. Gods time is the best grin

Thank you Mr. Johnson, wherever you are now.

Doesn't mean anything. Maybe you were, maybe you were not. Acceptance is not expected to be 100%.
You are now a USC right? Guess their decision was right at the time since you obviously had immigrant intent. tongue

Stop being ignorant. There are people that are successful and those that are not. Assuming he would have been unsuccessful without his artistic skills is downright myopic. He could have gone to school or improved himself one way or another. For every unsuccessful "taxi driver" as you claim, there are 3 or more successful accountants, engineers, doctors etc.
