You are the one confusing yourself. All I said was that you had immigrant intent. The type of visa does not matter. You answered it yourself. Spousal visa has immigrant intent. It is up to the officer to determine if the original intent is really to meet up with the spouse or if it is a ploy to get to the US with "immigrant intent in mind" . It doesn't change what I said. Actually, it was a lot easier to get a visa in 1984. You'd have to be really wayward to get a refusal. Back then life was still correct in Nigeria. People actually used to send money from Nigeria to sustain those in the USA unlike the reverse we have today. Good to appreciate the woman but it wasn't a big deal back then.
