Doesn't mean anything. Maybe you were, maybe you were not. Acceptance is not expected to be 100%.
You are now a USC right? Guess their decision was right at the time since you obviously had immigrant intent. tongue

I'm telling you I'm not.

Also, Einstein, you don't know what visa class I applied for.

Think, it's free.

It doesn't matter. The point is that you obviously had immigrant intent. You could have opted to not gain permanent residence and simply stayed/gone back to Nigeria. I am only saying they were probably right in the first denial and you proved them correct by eventually becoming a USC. Just stating the obvious.

In your mind you're stating the obvious but in reality you're not.

Not everyone going to US is going as a tourist or student. Some of us are on Fiancé and Spousal visa which has a direct immigrant intent. We go to interviews too and some of us are denied, even if at first.

Try to expand your thought process a bit is all I'm asking. If you care.

I have no idea how traveling to the US is such a big achievement to be celebrated 30 years after.

just imagine!

if given same opportunity, an American would curse you after 30 years of misadventures in Nigeria.

You are the one confusing yourself. All I said was that you had immigrant intent. The type of visa does not matter. You answered it yourself. Spousal visa has immigrant intent. It is up to the officer to determine if the original intent is really to meet up with the spouse or if it is a ploy to get to the US with "immigrant intent in mind" . It doesn't change what I said. I do not need to expand my thought process, I am just stating a simple observation.

Go to CBN and ask how it received in remittances from Naija abroad this year.. $25bn last year and the US counts for a huge chunk of that.

You lept to the wrong conclusion and like a typical Nigerian with an obtuse machismo you're unable to accept that you're wrong.

What you said was I was denied for having an immigrant intent. You were wrong in making that ludicrous assumption.

How can I be denied for having an immigrant intent when that is exactly the visa I applied for, immigrant visa.

You see how baseless your argument is? Even for a Nigerian you should be able to see it, but I won't hold my breath.

Quit making a big issue out of nothing. BIG English won't make you look smarter than you already are. You went for a spousal visa in 86 so you are obviously a grown man/woman. I will be the adult and just bow out here rather than turning this into a circus. You are trying to label someone as making assumptions yet you type the words "even for a Nigerian" and "typical Nigerian" - HYPOCRITICAL MUCH?
Your generation is the reason Nigeria is messed up today because you failed the youths yet all you do is try and place "labels".
Daddy/Uncle/Mummy/Aunty, issokay, I have heard you sir/ma. I'm out.

See, even you outed yourself as incapable of debating when you even posted proof that you lept to the wrong conclusion.

I hope you've learnt a lesson in proper etiquette today.

Rubbish! is it the visa or America that made him successful?...without his artistic skills he would have been a taxi driver and if unlucky would been dead by now don't ask me how, ask those hard working Nigerians who met cold death in doing a honest job in America. It is sad because for every 50 Nigerian lives that get cut short or destroy we hear one good story.....Tell me 1/50 is A1 and I'll celebrate with you.

So in a nutshell, what is your point

The only problem with statements like these is "good" or "bad" seems to be dictated by money. Meaning history is always written by the victorious and money covers all.

Actually, it was a lot easier to get a visa in 1984. You'd have to be really wayward to get a refusal. Back then life was still correct in Nigeria. People actually used to send money from Nigeria to sustain those in the USA unlike the reverse we have today. Good to appreciate the woman but it wasn't a big deal back then.
You are absolutely right.

Stories like this one do occur. A friend once shared something similar with me.He tried for over 2 years to leave Nigeria but he was never successful(denial back and forth). He applied to the Canadian embassy as the last and final resort and based on past outcomes he was not too optimistic.Back then they do face to face interviews unlike now,met this woman after what was more of a chat than an interview, the lady granted him a visa. Fast forward 3 to 5 years later, here was in a church in Canada and he sighted this visa officer in d midst of d crowd. He told me he went to introduced himself and tried to refresh her memory about him.He appreciated this lady till today coz when all hope of traveling abroad was lost, that was d moment God made it possible tru her.knowing how big canada is and u meeting the same visa officer that interviewed in Nigeria in the church u attend in Canada seem almost impossible but it happened. It's a small world.
