The police officers at that ojuelegba under bridge are so notorious , keep harassing young boys thinking everyone of them is into Yahoo Yahoo... Stopping road users to check their bags ,purse .... even if it's a photocopied documents u carrying you will explain how you came about it, check all the message and contacts on your phone ...GOD help you you have no bank credit or debit details there (always delete those kind of SMS on your phone).. They will make sure they get a cut from the money by arresting and detaining you for nothing... Talking from experience

on my way to otukpo, about 10km away, police stops me. time was about 10pm.
policeman: oga, from where? inner light!!
me: from enugu (switches on interior lights)
policeman: aaah! aaaah!!! mr. man but no be from makurdi you de come so?
me: officer, I said I am coming from enugu! this is Nigeria I can drive from any direction I like.
policeman: ok o! wey your driving license and particulars?!
me: (extract them from glove compartment and hand them over)
policeman: oga come down and show me ya booth

policeman: (while obviously looking at bunches of plantain) oga wetin be this for ya booth?

No matter what...you shouldn't give them your phone. The commissioner of police has stated that it's unlawful for them to do such. Once you stand your ground, they'd leave you. Same thing happened with a friend and he stood his ground.

The police outfit in this country needs to be overhauled completely! Cameron described Nigeria as fantastically corrupt or something to that effect didn't he? This is just a good example why I agree with his description! Corruption is synonymous yo the name Nigeria!

like one day when i gave a nigerian police a lift in my vehicle when i dropped him off ar his destination next thing he started demanding for my drivers licence

AFTER CHECKING HER DRIVER LICENSE AND SHE DROVE OFF,


SHE WAS CALLED BACK BECAUSE THEY HAVEN'T YET GIVEN HER THE ORDER TO MOVE.

Went for a friend's introduction in Ajuwon area of Ogun state very close to lagos, the silly policemen arrested us just because we were in a private car.. The forcefully took our phones and had it thoroughly checked. When they couldn't find anything on the phones and a former commissioner of police was mentioned they handed over our phones but not without parting away with logistics money. The very next time i went to the same area the police were soo drunk they were reeking from a mile away. They double crossed us with a public vehicle (danfo) and ordered us to come down. I even thought they were robbers. They came down and searched the car like they were looking for a pin in a haystack. They called i and my friends criminals for no just cause without even finding anything incriminating. They hauled us to the station and we were thrown into an investigation room. They took our id's wrote our names down and harassed us.. Looking around all i saw were crates of freshly opened lager beer scattered all around the station. They were infruiated when they found out I studied law.. They were so drunk they cocked thier guns at will and harrassed all the citizens they found on the road. We knew it was a delicate matter as Nigerian police are known to be trigger happy normally even making the liquor reduce our chance pf survival. They cursed us at will but all we had to do was look for a way to leave that Forsaken station. We were made to part with several thousands of naira for nothing in our own motherland. That very day i lost hope in the police force.

2012 November, i was coming back from School(To get my tranacript) and i was stopped under Ojuelegba bridge by some mufti wearing Policemen. There mission; Stop and search.

Meanwhile, i wasn't driving as i just alighted from pubic bus.
Went through my pockets, my bag and all my documents, i was already late for work and in a mighty hurry.
They searched and found my drivers licence in my wallet. ; This your licence , na fake and you have to take us to the syndicate printing fake licences.

Meanwhile, they also found N100, 000 on me as i always liked to go around with cash on me. When they found the money, They went berserk, shoved into the police van and intead of taking me to a Police Station, I was taken to the police quarters.

One of them told me; you could end up in jail even if innocent and he said dont you know there are lots of innocent people in jail;

They got N15k from me and still asked for beer.
I lost Faith in the country and i couldn't wait to get out of the cesspit.

I believe regional/ State policing will curb this menace as there will be accountability.

A policeman stopped my car at Oshodi Oke and wanted to know the contents on my laptop.
My reply, on one condition, He had to boot the laptop himself and navigate to the files he was searching for as i would not assist him with anything.

The mofo just handed the laptop to me and asked me to go. I can bet my life he didn't know where the power button is and did not want to embarass himself.

There's absolutely no difference between the Nigerian Policemen & Armed Robbers - Yes including the senior officers.
