What makes you think that Subsidy has been completely removed? And who told you that those "theiving charlatans" are still not in the petroleum sector controlling things? Keep on deceiving yourself.

There will always be theieves as no system is perfect but now, "Stealing is not just corruption, it will land you in jail"

PMB should please mow down any lunatic protesting the removal of fuel subsidy.
Haven't we suffered fuel scarcity enough?
Nonsense!

I have always advocated the removal of subsidy cos it was pointless.
Under GEJ though, it was obvious the government was riddled with thieving charlatans who woukd not do anything with the funds saved

Is that all you can say?

So it was wrong for GEJ to remove petrol subsidy & right for Buhari to do same.

I refuse to believe that my great Yoruba brothers are hypocrites, i will not.

This is not going to end well if refineries are not working, naira falls further or oil prices increase -- official pump prices could go as high as N300/litre!
Presently, importation costs NNPC roughly N100/litre.
While it could cost as low as N70/litre if we had working refineries @ prevailing crude prices and official xchange rate.
Shame on the gov't and anyone comparing AGO with PMS -- for every equipment that uses diesel, there are probably 500-1000 more using PMS.
Kudos to pipeline vandals and their apologizers -- we will all bear the consequences.
This is not what the people voted Buhari for, if the government cannot tackle cross border smuggling and pipeline vandalism, then that's a big, big, shame after all the campaign.

At this point, government should strongly consider devaluing the naira to bridge the gap between the official exchange rate and the parallel market rate. That's the only way to keep down the price of petrol since price/litre will now be a function of the parallel market exchange rate.

Government should also immediately increase the minimum wage to at least N30k. Asking workers who earn N18k monthly to cope with the impact of over 70% increment in pump price is unjust, insensitive and criminal.

Mr man, forget about what the govt would have saved.

Rather, think about the many private refineries that would have sprung up and the competition that would have ensued between the downstream operators that would have eventually forced the pump price down just as it is happening in the telecoms sector.

What of the several thousand jobs that would have been created directly and indirectly?

GEJ deserves an unreserved apology from organised labour and all those who withstood him in 2012.

Stop trying to be funny.

I had reservations about the last government which i dont have about this one. If you have reservations about this subsidy removal, you know where Ojota is. The last one was fun, you can converne another one and have fun too. Life aint so hard.

If the past administration had built new refineries or fixed the ones we have, will we be here right now? What did they do with the money saved from the partial removal of subsidy?

Ojota even looks more beautiful now although I doubt Ambode will be disposed to renting it out sha

But Nigerians have already been buying PMS at far more than the official rate for the past 9 months and under excruciating conditions?

Wouldnt you rather have it readily available no matter the cost?

In America PMS is sold for $80 in Europe it goes for $90. in most African countries it is sold equivalent to 175 Naira even when they have a working refinery refining the products.

I must commend the federal govt on this increase. This will curb corruption and add value to the growth and development of Nigeria.

This Govt penchant for telling lies is just unimaginable. U said d Labour Unions were part of d discussion and within hours this rebuttal. How do u hope to sustain this pricing template when d marketers source d Fx from d black MKT or u have d magic wand to stabilize d dollar?. D govt need to abolish d dichotomy of official and bureau d change rates or better still sell Fx to d mkters and ensure strict supervision to avoid diversion. With this Labour's position I must say this govt is very insensitive.

Trust me in a couple of months Dollar restrictions will end just like subsidy. Buhari is taking the right but difficult decisions with gradual implementation.

It's very difficult not to abuse people on NL because of people like you.

You should have asked yourself this simple question before rushing here to comment.

Since fuel according to you is $80/ litre in the USA (which is a lie anyway), can 80 naira buy you what 80 dollars would buy since you want to compare the currencies at par??

If them use the Z word for una now, una go dey vex.

Mind you I've always been against subsidy but for Buhari/APC to remove it after all the trash he spewed before and after elections, shows the biggest height of hypocrisy!!

People like you are the real problem we have in our country. You stand for nothing. Wherever the wind blows, you go even when it could harm you.

You condemned GEJ for trying to remove subsidy when it was the best time and see nothing wrong in this administration's action to remove same subsidy at this very difficult and trying time?

Smh for you

Do you know what $80 is?

Do you think its Nigeria where money doesn't have value.
Very daft write up.

$80 is over 15,000 Naira, at an exchange rate of 199 Naira to $1.
