Really?? Does that make sense? Why shld they "buy" what they can easily "take" at no cost. On the contrary, thats when bursting of pipeline to siphon fuel will escalate
To monitor illegal refineries isn't difficult, cos them no dey under water nor under ground.

When you legalise something it's easier to control.

Or u think say, if u be licensed operator, u go allow me dey do illegal one without reporting me?

Na people for that region know themselves.

Don't shy away from the simply question I asked you.Where will the illegal refineries get their crude from. I guess from the same extraction of illegal crude because crude is not a finished product.
Sir, while thinking of a solution to our present problem, the thought of legalizingthe illegal refineries came to mind.
Where would they get their crude from?
Crude could be made available to them by the government. Afterall our volume of sales has decrease no thanks to sanctions lifted on Iran..
All the crude being stolen could also be diverted to the now legal refineries.
At the end more jobs would be created. Youth restlessness in the Niger Delta would be reduced if not eradicated.
Competitions would grow. Refined oil price would drop. Fuel Importation would naturally die .

These are my thought anyway....
Thanks

On the contrary its very difficult to monitor them, especially when u have gone ahead to make them legal. These illegal refineries are sited inside forest and security agencies cannot be everywhere, all the time!

Apart from the loss of revenue, loss of crude and scarcity of pms ocassioned by them. What about the large scale destruction of the environment? You can hold shell and chevron to account for their waste. But u cant hold a nameless faceless entity. They cannot be sued. They just refine, dump and vamoose

Legalise illegal refineries

#legaliseiilegalrefineries

The high cost of PMS is as a result of the umavailability and high cost of procuring the US dollars. As long as we are still an importing country with little or no product to export, this situation will continue till eternity.A good way of making petrol available at a cheap price is to refine locally. All our refineries are not working to capacity as at present. The private refineries granted licence have not started working.A short term solution is to legalise all the so called illegal refineries. The more they are, the more availabilty of fuel.Government should also regulate and monitor the quality of their products. In the end, more jobs, more cheap fuel will be our gain.
Dude you get brain small....

Bros, that's why it is legalised na.

You put a standard for them to meet. Make sure they don't just refine on one place then leave for another.

They will have to pick a spot, where all the activities will be monitored.

All they need na upgrade.

Bros no make this thing look like one difficult thing cos it's not.

Ur reasoning is naive. You cant monitor illegal mushroom refineries 24/7. Like i said, security agencies cant be everywhere all the time. I believe u read that before responding.
