From page 1 to page 80, every post by DanjaNinja was a hit back to back to back. My exam is on Wednesday.... What are things to do and not to do now...

With practice tests, I noticed I often miss questions that are quite very easy, those with '' could'', '' if'', ''must'', or mixing up a plus and minus sign, dividing 16 by 2 to give me 7 the whole gist that GRE is super tough makes one even misread the questions... My practice tests scores have been in a range sort of, make baba God just top my score..

I have done all of Kaplan online, I did 3 Princeton, free Manhattan test and the power prep, the hype of the power prep made me fumble in it, I can say it's the easiest of all the tests, I over expected and since they say it's a reflection of your final score, the fear not to under perform sets in and I mixed up a lot of plus and minus, and the rest...

Danjaninja, sir riddy and the rest of the senior men on here, please help me through this last days ooooh, what and what do you advice a brother man do few days before the exam, I am even down with malaria sef... Naija life!

Hi. I'm writing on Wednesday too. @JKK. I won't lie to you, I've got cold feet. All the same hoping for the best. So much materials and very little time. Didn't have a choice than to focus on few of the materials. Used Manhattan, 1014 Princeton Review, Magoosh & the Magoosh videos I got miraculously some few days back. I really hope this is enough as I cannot coman kee myself. One thing I will like to co-ask DanjaNinja, Sir Riddy and the rest who's been doing a great job here is how you can boost your confidence these final days?

Thanks everyone in the room. Please would like to know if using an admission consultancy firm will be helpful. Been in contact with examplanet agency, anyone heard of them? Pls I need ur advice and suggestions. Also for those taking the GRE, please download the following apps from appstore,they really helped me a lot ;
1)Magoosh vocabulary builder
2)Magoosh gre flashcards
3)Magoosh gmat flashcards.
Also strenghten your passage reading skills by reading articles from nytimes and aldaily.com. Lastly, manhattan gre practice questions - finish that material at least once bfor u attempt to attempt the exam. It will sharpen ur cognition. Dts my little contribution. NB ;PLS I NEED TOEFL MATERIALS.
I would suggest you download this video series on YouTube, search for kenton County ESL, the video tutorials are very useful. Also go to www.notefull.com and head to their free TOEFL help, read their tips and also watch their video tutorials. This particular website will help you with templates for speaking and writing section, study and practice them meticulously. Also for the writing section, you should download Barron's writing for the toefl ibt, you should also download Princeton review for TOEFL ibt. You can get all these books through torrent download or I can send them for you if you're on telegram. Also download memrise app for your vocabulary.

@danjaninja, tanx a lot bruv, yes I took the GRE and scored 307, I alredi shared my Experience about 3 weeks ago on this platform, bt not to worry, will do Dt again. Firstly, my greatest lesson was d one learnt on this same platform;do not use just one material to study. Use as many as u can lay ur hands on. I used magoosh prep lectures, had to subscribe online and got d lectures. Also someone on this platform shared manhattan and barrons materials. Those were really helpful, especially the manhattan question bank. Pls go to the first page of this platform, I tink ur supposed to send a blank mail. Pls will confirm it for u and post it. Also, give ur self enough time to prepare. Take a lot of practice tests simulating test day condition. Also study in the harshest possible conditions, cos I noticed that that will improve ur stamina and attention span which are key for the exam. Also, alwz believe that u can score higher than this author, cos really, am nt a very intelligent person, so if I cud hit 307, then 310 shud be ur lowest score, believe me, u very can. Am pray for u, yes u.

@ponpon believe, at d point u start noticing the "must", "could " positive and negative signs, then know that u have finally arrived at the point the GRE exam is driving at, which is ur ability to notice details and their implications. In order words, push a little harder, and ur gud to go. Also, if uv been maintaining a score range in ur practice test, then u will likely score higher than that on the actual test, cos same happened to me. No need to be nervous, nw is d tym u work on ur stamina and composure. Ur ability to stay focused and calm even if u feel ur doing badly. A section gone is gone. Let it go and do ur best in coming sections.

Wow... I have few days to go. I have subjected myself to intense cerebration. With daily dose of lexicon to aggrandize my vocabulary. I have to be laconic with words here. I am intrepid but with the capricious method of ETS in setting questions. I have got cold feet too.

So the journey that started on this platform about two years ago was consolidated with a visa approval at the Lagos consulate this morning, the 23rd of May. I would have dropped my transcript earlier but I could not since I am still serving a ban for adding people to the Facebook group justwise warned me against on several occasions. I sincerely apologize and accept responsibility for my actions which were not deliberate.

I left the hotel around 5AM with my dad after a brief shower. I had to leave that early for my appointment at 630AM because I did not bring the right specification of passport from home to the hotel the previous night. I got to the consulate and had to ‘shell out’ 1500 naira for a very terrible photo. After several checks, at least three, we were ushered into the building for the biometrics. The lady who took my data was so nasty and kept shouting instructions at people, myself included. I proceeded to join the queue, I was among the first ten people on the rather long queue. The consulate officers sounded quite convivial. A smart young man with think ‘Igbo’ accent going to the UM College Park for MS in Metallurgy was approved as well as a plumpy lady too. The College Park guy applied to just a school but still got his visa. Another woman with a walking defect who was going to see her son who has been in the US since 2006 was approved too.

It was my turn, window 4, some minutes to 8, white guy with some extra build.
VO: Good morning. Pass me your documents please.
Me: Morning, how you doing today? (With a slight smile)
VO: So tell me about your program
Me: I am going to Kansas State University to pursue a PhD degree in computer science.
VO: What will your course work involve?
Me: I will be taking advanced computer science courses in order to satisfy the breadth requirements that will qualify me to become a doctoral candidate in the first two semesters. I will also take a research preliminary exam to satisfy this condition.
VO: So tell me about your assistantship.
Me: This is one of the most compelling reasons for choosing K-State. I get to tutor undergraduate students a fundamental Computer course during teaching hours, grade scripts and proctor tests which will prepare me for a career in academics.
VO: I will be approving your visa.
He gave me a white paper, circled a location to pick it up and talked about the educationUSA orientation on the 26th of July and gave me a flyer to accompany it.

Special appreciation to my brother and friend (goG), the delectable iya Ibadan (msNas), My big bros (mystiqme), the generous and big-hearted guy(slimmy2005), one of the funniest guy I have met (ojah), lovely guy (bigFrancis21), my amazing colleague (baodium), great guy (walspring) my lovely friends (gunther6, cutemorgan, fortissimo, kennyrony, OjaP, biikeys, gboyegaD, ttmacoy, danjaNinja, horayce, dicapino, ebdib, stolid), for all his humour and lovely jokes(warriboy21), for his efficient administration, though a little Kim Jung Un – like, lol (justwise)

To future applicants:
1. Listen to the gurus. But do your own findings please. If you are planning for next fall, start searching for schools now. Mail professors after you have read their journals and find anything interesting, mail grad students, be proactive and dedicated. Many will not reply you but you will learn a lot during the process.
2. Spread your risks. Ranked, moderate, safe schools. I applied to 8, three good ones and five safe. Be realistic with your ambitions. The expenses pile up real quick and you don’t want to do this thing twice.
3. Study hard for your standardized tests. If you are an engineering student, a 160 should be your target on the quant section of the GRE.
4. Have a LinkedIn account and edit your resume well. Let it suit your application for grad school. Nobody cares if you sold gala in front of Eko hotel. Accentuate your professional skills and experience.
5. Your SOP is the most important. Maybe I am exaggerating, but not too much. After GPA, SOP is the second most important material in my opinion. Let many people read it and critique it.
6. Apply early but do not rush them. I completed all my applications before the end of October last year. If you have 4.0/5.0 and GRE of 320 at least, apply to PhD programs. There is funding priority for students accepted into PhD programs.
7. Be hopeful. If you are religious, hold on to it and be hopeful.
