I think it is frowned at due to the highly religious society we find ourselves. extravagant and superficial adornments are used as the yardstick for judging character and morality without a deep scrutiny of inner character and intellectual wealth. I personally don't fancy it. But I don't throw jibes at those who wear earrings neither do I judge them at first sight. I have a friend who wears earrings and is very sound intellectually. He was always in police web because he was always mistaken for a "bad boy" whenever policemen invade some places in his Street.
