follow your dream bro, but on the second thought course of study doesn't matter, just try and graduate with at least 2:1 don't only cram your courses, you should give maximum concentration on your studies

Oh. How i wish i can do fisheries and aquaculture or have somebody in my younger brother doing it. This is a lucrative course when u consider the many opportunities in it.
Op, u dont know what u have o. Do u know the great opportunities that opened to fish farmers since the last administration agric policies of akinwumu? If u have the experience, wit a soft loan u are a bigman.
Even people who are graduates are doing fine on it, not to talk of a graduate certified.

It depends on your school or department, you can study Fisheries for one year, get really good grades and switch to Pharmacy in 200 level instead of writing another Jamb which you're not sure of getting the admission. I did it and it worked for me

Your case is similar to my own, I applied for political science, imsu gave me education economics, I was so disappointed the day I saw my admission letter(my dad was happy though cos he sees political science as a pure waste of time in the university) I made up my mind to study it and change to political science in my 200L but when I entered 200L I didn't want to change the course again cos finally I end up loving the course, I advise you to study this course for a year and see if you will like to continue with it or not.

NB: Nigeria doesn't give damn about what you studied, just get the damn certificate. cheesy
Your dad is right. Pol science, to an extension most courses in Social sciences are pure waste of 4 years. Am a. pol science graduate .

Young man/woman, forget all these people telling you that what you studied doesn't matter, they'll keep telling you that until you eventually graduate; then you'll find out for yourself whether it does matter or not.
So, my candid advice to you is go and study hard and take jamb again. Get a course you'll be happy studying.
And why do schools have fishery studies anyways Fish farming is going on everywhere now and you don't need 4 yrs course to do that.

Re: I Don't Like The Course Am Studying. by pavlovt: 3:27pm On May 25, 2016
My candid advice for you is that you should put all your effort on the course and avoid distraction if not it would have been too late by the time you get to 300 level and you suddenly discover there is a prospect in the same course because by that time you would have been doing your departmental courses. This happened to one of my friends years back in futa the same course. You can still put in for jamb but be serious with your course as if that is all you got for life.

Hello Op,I was in your shoe, last year (2015). Several people discouraged me,but i gave it a trial anyway, leaving it all to God,having in mind that if i'm not admitted into pharmacy, then i will continue with Microbiology tech, which I was studying.Eventually,i succeeded, I was admitted on merit.Just follow your heart.

1) The thing is, if you don't like the course you are studying, it'd be difficult for you to make a good CGPA to even enable you to cross.

2) Crossing from one department to another is not usually a smooth ride in Nigerian universities and you might require a certain amount of influence which you might not have.

3) Long and short of everything is that you are never too old to study anything that'd make you happy and feel fulfilled.

4) So if it's Pharmacy you really want, get a UTME form, try to find out a school that respects merit (I'd recommend Unilag, UI, and OAU) prepare hard for it and put in your best.

5) Life is too short for you to spend it doing something you really don't wanna do.

Cheers man!

The worst thing that will happen to you is not studying the course you wanted rather it is studying the wrong course. so you should be able to distinguish between the wrong course, the one you are studying and the one you want to study. Fishry(Agric) I dnt think is wrong oooo. but if you cant study it as in you just dont like it automatically is a wrong course.

It is better you sit at home for 5 yrs and get a course that would be meaning to you at d end of d day.
Studying Fishery is just a BIG waste of resources and time.

Instead of studying Fishery, go to a nearby IT center and do some IT courses that will make your life meaningful.
Its just like a guy i know that wasted 4 years to study Yoruba, 10 years after graduation, he can't even find
a native doctor he can do incantations for at least for a little fee.

You are one of the biggest jokers of our time.
Are you really in the labour market?

People used this ur phrased when the banking sector was doing well, employing people without course consideration,
training them on the job BUT the truth is that the story has changed!

You better look before you leap. If you like, go and study Religion, Igbo, Yoruba, Fishery, or all these irrelevant courses. You will know ha far after NYSC!

With good grade in 100 level, you can apply for change of course in 200 level. Meet your course adviser in the University for further input.
