…To obtain permission before travelling abroad

By Iheanacho Nwosu, Abuja

THERE are strong indications that the Federal Government may have placed two governors from the Southern part of the country on a watch-list. A source from the Presidency said the governors are from the South-west and South-south.

The decision to place them under watch, the source said stemmed from their activities which, he said, were “clearly anti-Nigeria.
Their activities have negative security implications.”

Sunday Sun learnt that the governors would no longer be allowed to travel overseas unless they are given permission by key security outfits and officials. The order to this effect, the source said, had been handed to all security organisations and relevant offices. The directive was said to have been issued three weeks ago.

The source said the memo was explicit that any of the affected governors must, as a matter of compulsion, “see the Director General in Abuja” before being allowed to embark on foreign trips.

Asked if the move would not be a negation of constitutional rights of the governors as officials who enjoy immunity and who operate in a federal system, the source disagreed.

He argued that the immunity was not being tampered with, stressing that a number of security questions were involved.

According to him, “the government is moving to stop any form of infractions and the process does not infringe upon the immunity of any of the actors. I believe that none of the officials would be stopped from embarking on trips unnecessarily.”

On what would happen if the affected governors refuse to comply with the new order, the source disclosed that they would be prevented by the security from boarding their flights.

“The security knows what to do in the case of any of them failing to get the required clearance before embarking on trips abroad.

He will be prevented from boarding his flight,” he said.

I don't know which law the FG will apply to implement the above.

For telling murderers not to step into his state again, the tyrant Buhari has placed Fayose under a watch list. When will he put the number four terrorists in the world under a watch list ? These crazy actions keep justifying why the IPOB call Nigeria a zoo but we shall overcome this dictatorship.

Ps if that buffoon in Bayelsa state is the one under a watch list as I suspect then ba wahala.

We all see that PMB is bent on destroying this nation himself, why put two Governors on security watch list, even during GEJ regime when Amaechi made treasonable comments he was never restricted from travelling outside this county, he was never on any watch list.

PMB should be careful how he runs this country the Nigeria he ruled 30yrs again is different from Nigeria of today, he should focus on the economy and reduce the suffering of Nigerians, not trying to act like a czar's here.

Well I know he cannot stop anyone of them if he does that, that will be the beginning and the end of this govt, he has too much on his plate that is why he cannot perform as expected, you can imagine Nigerians saying they prefer a corrupt GEJ Govt to his own, is that not sending a message to him.

He has to sit and have a second thought, those governors are not his problem, sycophants are him are trying to use him to destroy this country for their gain

This is bullsh!t. Who does Buhari think he is, a despot or some sort of autocratic ruler or what?? This man keeps over-heating the polity with his actions. Does he even have such right? All I know is that Fayose will still disgrace him on this. Well, lets see how it goes.

I'm a fan of Buhari, but this clearly a breach of individual freedom of movement if it is true.
Someone should sound it out to the old man that criticism is part of the heat when you are the president in a democratic setting

He has not committed any crime in saying that about his mother, you can fault his discretion.
We should never support a president at all times simply because we voted for him, that is blind patriotism.
If this report is true, Buhari is clearly breaching the constitution.

I haven't even supported the president on this. However, he is empowered by the Constitution to bring security and economic saboteurs to book using the extant laws. The DSS and other security agencies are well positioned to know their activities beyond what you and I know and they cannot look the other way if they have evidence against them.

Having immunity should not mean freedom to engage in unpatriotic ventures against your country.

Then we need to clearly spell out what constitutes unpatriotic ventures! As long as their activities does not breach the nation security or clearly a breach of the oath they sworn to, the President shouldn't be seeing as a bully.
Nigerians generally don't like a bully President, they will queue behind the perceived underdog anyday, it was such situation of bully-underdog that catapulted GEJ to the Presidency.
Such bully' action will cause the president a lot.
