Falae can go to hell with his confab report.
The useless report that gave indigenous rights to Non-indigens . Is this not legitimising the so called herdsmen Especially in the middle belt?
Before we even start talking( not some No go Area)
First question is
Do you want to remain in Nigeria?
If yes, how?
The minimum is autonomous regional government with pocket money to the centre to manage relationships.

Any omoluabi interested can look at Afenifere renewal group take down of the useless confab.

They were not Jonathan's nominees...all states sent their nominees, the FG sent its delegates, judiciary sent theirs, civil society groups and religious bodies sent theirs as well. There were still regional representatives as in SE,SS, NC, NE and so on. Besides, I don't want to believe u agree that there should be a restructuring but if it is something done by the Jonathan administration it should be thrown out. Why would u throw the baby away with the bath water? Do u have an idea of the conference recommendations? Every resolution was put to a vote with majority having their say according to their convictions.

I am from Ikorudu part of Lagos, what nominee was sent from Lagos ? Did Jonathan not throw away Obj conference report ? Why did he threw the baby water bucket and even the baby mother out altogether ? Does he note realize it had recommendation he could act on n perfect over time ?

I had my reasons for asking you if you had any idea of the contents of that report. Your response here shows you don't. You see, Nigeria's first problem is her constitution. Chapter II tells of all the duties owed the citizens by the government yet prevents citizens from being able to question the failure of the government to meet these fundamental duties because the court is expressly robbed of that power.

The CONFAB effectively recommends a decentralised government with the regions responsible for their funding and development with agreed shares to the centre. The reason states are in dire straits and unable to pay salaries is that their major source of income, oil, hit the rocks due to price crashes along with kleptomaniac leaders/thieves in power from time immemorial. Now with self development which the CONFAB recommends, there will almost immediate diversification of the economy which the FG has never been successful in. This must happen because not all regions have oil...simple! Therefore they must discover and develop what they do have. Regions having to cater for themseves in smaller units will decide how many administrative units or lgas they need, no more arbitrary creation by the NASS.

The National Assembly is also recommended by the CONFAB to be on part time basis with allowances paid per sitting. This will definitely reduce the amount they control now. With six regions, there will be no need for the over bloated number of NASS members we have now and they will be paid by their regional govts to represent them at the centre.

Developmental needs will be met faster because a lot of things on the Executive list will be shed and the Central govt will mainly control external security covering the Army, Navy and Air Force, foreign/external relations, minting and printing of currency, inter state roads, railways etc. Policing will be purely regional for internal security. A region can easily partner with investors and build refineries, seaports, airports, other critical infrastructure, control and operate them and thus generate revenue for itself.

I cannot go on and on here cos there's so many details but hopefully this gives u an idea. So yes, our current system of govt encourages too much corruption and being as far removed/isolated from the people as they are, it is difficult to demand accountability. And so to answer your questions, it is implementation of CONFAB that will change the mind of those blowing up our pipelines; demand good governance and accountability for all Nigerians as a matter of law and necessity; make Bayelsa, Ekiti, Osun, Yobe, Imo and all other states self sufficient enough to pay salaries and develop speedily and stop us from paying our legislators the highest salary in the world.

The recommendations of the CONFAB do not favour any political party or region so it has nothing to do with PDP.

You have done your best in explaining to them. There is a reason why this country will not move forward, unless issues agreed upon in the confab are implemented. Zombies and their paymasters cannot see beyond ND oil. The minute you suggest decentralization they begin to shake in fright, yet they still clamor for diversification.

Imagine if this report was implemented, you can see that a certain party will feel short changed, which resource is more lucrative than oil? I hope you get my drift. Until our leaders can practice what they preach, it seems the confab report will be politicized.

Olasupo Shasore, SAN was a delegate from Lagos and even participated in the Lagos gubernatorial primaries on the APC platform. I can't immediately identify others from Lagos now but I'm sure of him. I'm not sure such a person would be Jonathan's nominee.

For the Obasanjo conference, when was it held? There was Yar'Adua before GEJ so I cannot say what Yar'Adua thought or decided on the subject. Nothing stops this government from bringing all such reports together, identifying generally agreed recommendations and implementing them. Everything is welcome that will decentralise the powers of govt, empower the regions and ensure resource control.

Shocked by reports quoting President Muhammadu Buhari as saying he would want the report of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s National Conference go ‘into the so-called archives’, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Olu Falae, yesterday insisted that the country’s future and progress would depend on implementing some of the recommendations of the document.

While speaking at a public lecture with theme “Welfare Ideology and the Future of Yoruba Nation” to commemorate the 90th birthday of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, the capital city of Ondo State, Falae explained that the 2014 confab report, though never conceded to all the recommendations made for the welfare of the Yoruba people, would actualise 80 per cent of the nation’s aspirations if implemented.

The Afenifere chieftain, who also participated in the confab, noted, “there will be no Nigeria without the report.”

Prior to Falae’s comments at the ceremony, Pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation, Afenifere, had put forward what it said were measures to enhance the peace, prosperity and sustenance of the Yoruba people across the nation, demanding certain explanations from President Muhammadu Buhari on the persisting herdsmen attacks.

Guest speaker, Prof. Banjo Akintoye, stressed that the Yoruba people across Nigeria wanted to live an independent and progressive life, but the country’s situation had been a major setback.

Akintoye stressed the welfare ideology of the ancient Yoruba society before the first European explorer stepped into the interior of Yorubaland in 1825, to the amazement of a German professor, Ulli Beier, who lived in Yorubaland between 1950 and 1960.

He lamented that the constitutional defects in the country had affected the progress of the Yoruba nation, saying: “Nigeria has been drawing us back, and now we have to take decisions to stop Nigeria from drawing us back,” especially the recurrent herdsmen attacks on farmers.

The guest speaker faulted President Buhari on his declaration in a recent interview with Cable News Network (CNN) in London, asserting that the notorious herdsmen who have been killing farmers across the country, are Libyan militiamen and fugitives trained under Muammar Ghadaffi.

“Why did the government of Nigeria not inform Nigeria about the problem, and why did the government not take action to stop them from coming into Nigeria? Why have some Fulani spokesmen been threatening that they would break up Nigeria if these Libyan militiamen are thrown out of Nigeria?

“How do ordinary nomadic herdsmen afford to buy expensive things like AK47 rifles? How do they get trained to use such weapons? Is any rich or influential person or group supplying them with these weapons, and or training them? If yes, who are these rich or influential persons and what are they trying to achieve?”

He continued: “The president of Nigeria owes Nigeria a clear and certifiable statement on this situation. The president of Nigeria also deserves, and must have, the support of the Afenifere nation, and of other Nigerian peoples, as he investigates these matters, as he explains to Nigeria, and as he strives to remove this immense new challenge from the life of our country.”

The professor tasked Afenifere to “find ways to mobilise unity and strength at home. We Yoruba must conceive the Afenifere ideology anew as the ideology of our whole nation, and not merely the banner of a group, or of a partisan section among us.”

On the proposed grazing reserves, he expressed concerns, saying: “Are they designed by some people to house illegal armies of occupation in the states of the Middle Belt and the South? Are they meant to be also jihadist instruments for forcible islamisation of Nigerians? Or are they designed as weapons of one ethnic group’s conquest of other Nigerians?”

Chief Ayo Adebanjo lamented the defects in the constitution of the country, which led to the restructuring effected by the military after the 1966 coup d’etat to dissipate the independence and sustainability of the erstwhile regions.

“We have been clamouring for change, but the only change which the country needs is the change of the constitution,” he said, noting that the power at the federal level makes the Nigerian president the most powerful in the world at the expense of the federating states.

Adebanjo remarked that President Buhari cannot take decisive measures against the Fulani herdsmen menace in the country because “he himself is a cattle rearer.”

Governor Olusegun Mimiko confirmed the menace of the herdsmen and the impending danger it poses to the peace and security of the nation if proactive measures are not taken to curtail it.

Mimiko stressed that the safety which the Yoruba nation and other states have in the constitution against the new grazing reserve policy is in the Land Use Act that vests exclusive powers in the state governments. “In Ondo State, there is no land for grazing,” he said.

The celebrant, Fasoranti, recounted his experiences during the pre- and post-colonial eras; and his followership of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, noting that Afenifere is the “Soul of Nigeria.”

He appreciated the members of the group for organising such a public lecture in his honour and Governor Mimiko, who named a 42, 000 square metres park after him in Alagbaka; and the Afenifere Renewal Group led by Chief Olu Adegboro for presenting a portrait to him.

Others who attended the event included: Chief Iyiola Omisore, Asiwaju Seinde Arogbofa, Chief Korede Duyile, members of Afenifere and representatives of pressure groups across the country.

Re: No Confab Report, No Nigeria, Falae Insists by mandax: 9:28am On May 31, 2016
What Buhari only wants to achieve as president of Nigeria:

Buhari only wants to use every force and tactics in the books to sustain the extant lopsided political structure, a political structure established by soldiers from Buhari clan under the increasingly overblown unitary government system, both of which make Buhari clan suck up more of Nigeria's oil revenues through the undue large number of states and local government areas proliferated all over the north of Nigeria.
Through the lopsided political structure, Buhari clan breathes upon the necks of rest of Nigeria politically, determines what can be or not be in Nigeria.

Only zombies can fault Olu Falae here.

Even the former US ambassador to Nigeria and veteran writer on Nigeria affairs, John Campbell, recently wrote and urged Buhari to use the recommendations of the last CONFAB to heal the political fault lines in Nigeria.

If Buhari doesn't like the CONFAB, let his government establish a SNC.

NB: abeg no quote me for thrash, apc nor pmb stated it that they are not interested in the confab and they never attended it, opposition also used it against them during the election and they never backed down on their words about non implementation if they get to sit of power.
if you voted for apc and you are pushing for the confab report implementation, it's either you are not ok then, or you no get sense again now, if you are against them then, abeg endure, 2019 no far again, just make sure you get enough people to vote in your candidate.
