I believe Siasia isn't a Fool, and he would have watched the Clip of Eagles against the Luxembourg. Iheanacho, Iwobi, Simon, Ndidi and other qualified Players that played the Match would make the list! Besides the list is gonna be vetted by the Technical Board, hence any wrong Player(s) picked by him for the Tourney would be rejected! |

Mickael2: Success is actually a Striker and not a winger. In the traditional 4-3-3 formation most Spanish coaches adore, the three guys up front are strikers. Just as CR7, Bale and Benzema. Some feel Bale and CR7 are wingers but it is actually a support striking role. The Support Strikers play on the wings during games. Saying Isaac Success can not strike is like Saying Messi and Neymar can not strike. Watch Nacho play as a second/support striker in a traditional 4-4-2 formation with one of the strikers as a support. You see Nacho drop deep and drop to both sides of the wings. In the 4-3-3 formation, the support strikers do the same thing but play it on one wing. That is why I expect Nacho and De Bruyne to play more on the wings under Guardiola with Nacho on the left. De Bruyne on the right. Just like we have seen CR7 and Neymar play as Strikers the season and excel, Success can comfortably play as a striker and excel. |

Icon4s:You can not tell but what is important is let these boys keep working hard. Let them keep believing in themselves. That is the only way they can find out if they can become world class. Fortune Favors The Brave. |

TheGoodJoe:Bt u agree they will achieve this over time with d necessary opportunities and exposures right? |

adeyemi2015: The questions a lot of people here, including me are asking is that. If the competition is so important and if these are our star players for this competition, why are the star players not going to the Suwon Tourney to blend with themselves, the coach's training routines and tactics. |

Icon4s: One hundred percent. Mikel gained a lot from Lampard and Ballack in camp. Messi improved working week in week out with Ronaldinho and Guily. Casemiro gained from training with Zidane and working with a true footballing genius, Luka Modric. I believed Ndidi gained from playing with Raheem Lawal and will improve from it. I also hope he watches and trains a lot with Mikel. These will mold Ndidi into a better player. |

TheGoodJoe:Good. That is d EXPERIENCE i am talking abt. U cannot discard or "kill" that system. |

Icon4s: Yes but let us not talk about who has more experience. Let us talk about who is a better player. Who will perform better if they play in a particular position. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:11pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
Icon4s:For the Olympics, what is the best attacking pair in a 4-4-2 position. Who are those will perform best? I pick Isaac Success and Nacho. If we bring in more experience, Ighalo - Ideye/Musa. That is my point. Let us select best performing in roles. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 1:16pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
Attacking pair, 4-3-3 Simon Moses (LWF) , Success (CF), Iheanacho (RWF) Adding experience, Simon Moses (LWF), Ighalo (CF), Ahmed Musa (RWF) |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Icon4s(m): 1:26pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe:My brother u have to talk abt experience too. Football is all abt team work. More experienced players more easily blend into d tactics of teams. Team selection goes beyond hu is better than hu. Coaches feel more comfortable working with experienced professionals. They blend more easily with team tactics. Or y do u think Siasia chose the Mikel sitting in front of the Obaobona- Ambrose CB pairing against Egypt? |

Mickael2: Your points are riddled with holes. First of all, what Savic did in that finals was nothing short of amazing. He was easily the man of the Match. Giminez would never put such a performance. Diego Simeone was sure Savic would match Ronaldo. Remember, CR7 did not beat Savic once. He was definitely the defender with most blocks. For the job to be done that night, Savic was the man. He did not fail and left the pitch with his head held high. Carrasco did not play as a striker. So how did you expect Simeone to drop Torres for Carrasco. Pepe is one of the fastest defenders. That is why Griezmann and Torres who are pacy strikers were the best options. Mancini never wanted to sell Kovacic. He was actually Mancini's best player. Zidane respects the boys ability. There was no way Mancini could stop Kovacic when Real Madrid wanted him. That is a pure genius. |

Icon4s: If a coach wants to go with blending with tactics route, the we opt for the best players to blend with tactics. Nacho is not as experienced as Ighalo but he definitely blends with tactics more easily. I repeat we should think. Who is better in a system? Who is a better crosser? Who has a higher pass complete ratio? Who is a better tackler? Who plays more to instructions? Not who has more experience. That gives weaker players advantage. Yobo was more experienced than Omeruo at the AFCON we won but Omeruo was the better defender. Better tackler. Better marker and he was disciplined following the orders of the coaches. |

Icon4s:The word 'experience' has been abused in modern day football.... An individual been older and with more years of playing football is generically viewed as ''more experieced" in comparison with a footballer of less age and fewer years of pro soccer.... However I will say that this view isnt only flawed but a great deceit... Experience isnt just by the years in the game but the "learning experiences" a footballer has undergone and his ability to adapt per required. Thus Neymar @ 23 is more experienced than say Emenike who is older and with more years of football.. The reason is simple.. The former has more "learning experiences" than the latter... This could be got in training or real game time... infact the former has undergone unique learning experiences that the latter has not and may never undergo... This clearly makes the former more experienced. However that been said I agree with TheGoodJoe in wholism that "Form" should supersede the warped view of "experienced".. Varane (19) was picked ahead pepe (31) by mou.. because the former has become a better player... Douglas Costa is very good and he been consistent ... but when Ribery and Robben are in their element, it is only normal they start cos they are better than costa... |

TheGoodJoe:TheGoodJoe, i know d problem here. I know you well enough to know u are a very sound football analyst - one of the best on this forum. I know u to b very vast abt both FIFA organised and European competitions. U are a seasoned football analyst But 1 thing i know abt u also is some times u allow sentiments take over. Dnt worry, those ur beloved youngsters will get there some day. ![]() |

Mickael2: You said Van Gaal is not a coach? The man who coached a spanking of Spain and Brazil at the last World Cup. Ask the likes of Seedorf, Edgar Davids, Finidi George, Kuivert, Frank De Boer, Ronald De Boer, Overmars, Xavi, Iniesta, Toni Kroos, Alaba, Muller, Gustavo, who Van Gaal groomed into the game of football and tell me Van Gaal is not a coach. A man who coached a small team like AZ Alkmaar to win the Dutch League title. Then tell me he is not a coach. As for Douglas Costa, he is not near Neymar. Not even for Brazil. Neymar is the first Sports man to grace the cover of times Magazine, multiple winner of the South American footballer of the year. Was outstanding at one of the Confederations Cup and was the best player of the tournament. Neymar has once scored the goal of the year. How can you compare Diego Costa to Neymar? I have been watching Costa when he was at Gremio when Jaap Stam scouted him for Manchester United. He was just sixteen. I had Costa's videos before he joined Sharkhtar. I am a Costa fan. He isnot yet upto Robben's level but he is a very bright talent. |

Icon4s: I do not know why you guys attack me for sentiments. Contrary to you guys beliefs, I am not sentimental. If I want Iheanacho playing ahead of Ighalo, it is because I feel he is better. If I tell ask you between Iheanacho and Ighalo, who is a better striker, you will say Iheanacho. If we put experience into context, Ighalo will get a nod. I already said, Mikel is better than Ndidi. This is not because of experience but ability and form. People will say, it is because I am a strong Mikel fan. That is why I want us not to put experience into context. At the moment, Onazi is not as good as Ndidi. If we take experience into context, Onazi must start over Ndidi. It holds us back. Let us work more like the way top clubs do. As soon as Barcelona wanted Jordi Alba, it was time for Abidal to go. When Mikel performed well for the Super Eagles, I think two assists to Obafemi and a goal. Jay Jay Okocha could still carry on performing well but he pulled his jersey, hung his boots for a teenage Mikel. Respect Jay Jay for life. |

TheGoodJoe:Going back to d original issue raised by tbaba. That Egypt clash was nt the best game to experiment on so many new players. So many good uncapped youngsters were kept out nt bc dey were nt better dan d "more experienced" ones invited bt bc d coach had little time and so prefered to work with the already existing Super Eagles players hu are more conversant with big games of such especially at this continental level. That is jst my pt. Remember ahead of the return leg in Alexandria i wrote an article on "the dawning of a new era". We all know it was time for some older players to take d bow and allow for d new generarion. Bt we needed the experiencw of those old boys especially in dat defense for d Egypt clash. |

Icon4s:The point is... Experience should be reflected in one's ability... If you are more experienced show it in your ability on the pitch to cope with a match situation, adapt better than others and show awareness of the fine details of the game... It show be evident in performance and ability to cope or adapt with the game's demand.... When it comes to experience, stop playing the AGE card.. |

linked:Ask tbaba why Chidozie Awaziem was substituted in the Portigues Cup final.- He was shakey - a symptom of inexperience at that level. Yes u are right ur experience should speak for u on d field of play. Bt to say experience should b killed? No-no. |

TheGoodJoe:I think he's using the Tourney to pick among the fringe Players! Most of them ain't in the Mainstream, rather they are like backups! Only few, probably 5 of them, will make it to the Olympic! |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:20pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
Icon4s: I bet, Leon Balogun was more shaky against Mali. What of Omeruo's mistake that led to Luxembourg goal. I keep saying our coaches should have their screening processes just like Coach Westerhof. Use this process and screen the best players who can represent the Super Eagles. Then pick your team. Bring Awaziem, Otigba, Omeruo, Troost-Ekong, Balogun, Osede, Oboabona. Do your routines and pick the best. Send the rest home. Same way we pick our junior teams. |

adeyemi2015: We are going to this tournament as a preparation for the Olympics. That is why a lot of people here are angry. Why use an Olympic preparatory tournament to prepare and blend fringe players. Coach Siasia not picking the best is inexcusable. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Nobody: 2:23pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
Icon4s:Based on experience, Bony should always start ahead of iheanacho. He was the top scorer in the Dutch league and at Swansea but Iheanacho was better than him all season. Iwobi should not even be considered at arsenal but he outshone some more experienced players. Varane was a starter in Madrid at 19. If you are good enough, you are good enough. That is the mentality, we need to adopt, not counting years of experience. |

| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by TheGoodJoe(m): 2:27pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
Icon4s: Coach Siasia tried in both Egypt games and took a lot of risk. There was no time at all to experiment, train and screen the best players. At that time, you go with the regular National team players because they understand themselves. |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Nobody: 2:31pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe:Except we wish to exhaust them before the Olympics, I think Siasia is right! They've played lots of Matches during the Season, and it won't be a bad idea to excuse them from the Invitational Tourney. When would they be allowed to rest and freshen up for the Olympics?! You Guys are on point, but you should also look at it from this angle! |

TheGoodJoe:Your own errors are there too. I said when it came to the most important game, Savic was picked ahead of Gimenez because of experience. Atletico has played Real Madrid 2 times already prior to that game this past season and Ronaldo didn't score even once although he was fit then, so you are now saying that a Ronaldo who is just returning from injury can do what a fit Ronaldo could not do? Savic was choosen because he could keep a cool head in such situations and cool heads come with experience so you see my point? Pepe is not even close to being fast. I don't know if you watch these games but he is not fast, that's why Varane has been ahead of him in the pecking order for most parts of the season. And oh,when you choose a player above the other, you will have to adjust your formation, which is what Simeone did. I mean Carrasco has already played as a support striker before, just that Griezman moved into Torres' role as the main CF, heck during the beginning of the season when Torres was rotting on the bench, Carrasco/Martinez were the ones playing there! And you do realize that when Carrasco entered the pitch, Griezman moved out wide and their formation changed to a 4-3-3, now do you think that they couldn't have started the game with a 4-3-3 all along? Kovacic came to Madrid before Zidane became the first team coach. It was Benitez who hired him. Mancini was playing him out of position because he favoured other experienced guys there. And this is Inter Milan, they can hang on to their players if they want so it's not as if it's Sporting Gijon |
| Re: All The News About The Olympic Eagles (U-23) HERE! by Mickael2(m): 3:04pm On Jun 01, 2016 |
TheGoodJoe:You got it all wrong. They are not support strikers, they are inverted wingers, still wingers. Cr7 has a free role in Madrid, that's why you see him there but even then you can see him cutting inside and shooting, that's why he is called an inverted winger, otherwise known as a winger playing on his weaker foot so he can cut in and score. Robben is also an inverted winger, Ribbery also but they are not support strikers, a support striker is hardly ever used in a 4-3-3 because it reduces the width that can be utilized |
