if a war breaks out in the Niger Delta, it not only spells doom for d region alone but on the entire country. The oil and gas
sector accounts for about 35 per cent of gross domestic
product, and petroleum exports revenue represents over
90 per cent of the nation's total exports revenue...if oil investors leave, the resulting effect on economic growth will b devastating....I just hope the govt will adopt a more holistic approach in running this country...May God help us

It depends on who is backing who. If them get connection with CIA, it possible. If you can factor in the fact that throughout those yes of their amnesty, security was so porous, they lifted crude and exchange for weapons and cash in the high sea, while the security agency turned a blind eye to it. Nothing is impossible.
Hmmm.... Sense!

I have nothing more to say , but it is very unlikely that a country will survive 2 full-blown civil wars. let's call a spade a spade, the oil-producing communities deserve a better deal than what they are currently getting and these NDA guys are determined to getting that. I advice dialogue though.

I see stuff like this and I laugh. No organization no matter how media conscious they think they are will be able to force the hand of the Government especially when the government is trying to help the so called affected ones. NDA can never handle the Nigerian army. I repaet, they can never in their wildest dreams. By the way, if they mistakenly attack any civilian aircraft they just signed their own death warrant. Anyway as much as I want this thing to die down calmly, I won't have any problem joining the Nigerian army to wipe out these fools painting the people of Niger Delta as troublesome.
Though in normarlsy, I do not wish u death but if the carpet get rolled out and you dare thread on it, your foolishness will make u fall shamefully.

Great General Alabi Osama was not wrong when he advice Southern Youths (expecially yoruba youths) altogether not to make the mistakes He himself, Akinrinade, Benjamin Adekunle and co and others from South West made by supporting those arrogant Cows in the North against fellow Southerners anymore.

Be wise.

I never supported their cause when GEJ was the leader for obvious reasons and the fact that he never did anything for his people is one of the reasons why I loathe the guy, apart from how utter useless he was and how he has blood on his hands.

Also, 13% can never be enough for a region the whole country depends on...the percentage has to be far higher than that, ditto capital projects sited in the area. If you can build a new city (Abuja) in the North from ground zero with oil wealth, you should be able to make places where the wealth is coming from a tad decent. That's how it's done everywhere else in the world. However, these scumbags have sense of entitlement to things that don't belong to them, especially the Northerners and that right there is injustice. You can also draw a correlation with the way they're trying to pass some useless land grazing bill through the back-door, by using well orchestrated systematic attacks/carnage to push it through. It's just unacceptable.

Fairness is fairness and injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. They deserve more.
I think you have a point there. But fvckerz are now asking for a break away. That, I think smacks of some biafra horsecrap. The igboid are complicit. And I don't think that's going to work.

Dude, the day each one of them joined the army, they knew they had signed up for death. That's what they have been trained for and that's why they are being paid salaries. Soldiers have been dying since ages. So don't come here and start making it look like it's some big deal. Except those guys are indeed crazy will they allow the ND to be turned into a battle ground. Even against the wishes of their people.

Err, it depends on the generation of SAM you're alluding to. The old soviet ones are readily available on the black market and there are tons of weapons all over Africa due to Libya. And don't forget someone from that region just ruled the country and there were all types of shady defense/arms contracts to private individuals...so never rule out a possibility that they must have acquired loads of sophisticated weapons.

Also, with the "no fly one" threat, I doubt they were alluding to sophisticated air defense systems. Rag tag militants can't operate complicated systems - not even the Nigerian military. You need a lot of training and expertise for them. I'd wager that they're talking about manpad and Russian Igla (both SA-16 and SA-18) are readily available on the black market, depending on the connect...only the US stinger missiles are somewhat difficult to find anywhere.

ISIS do have manpads but using them against a sophisticated airforce is a different thing entirely. But manpad against the Nigerian airforce and those obsolete jets would look like a sharp shooter hitting target at a shooting range. grin

Anyway, you lot need to let peace reign and do everything based on justice, equity, and fairness. We don't need another civil war in Africa. The civil war era in Africa is over!

Shalom! cool
At the bold, you could't have said it better.

Like seriously, what will it cost us to do things right. Distribute the offshore oil wells among the states rather than to cronies.

Allow full federalism with regions free to grow as they deem fit.

Enough of the stranglehold!

Doesn't matter what the other demands are, once we have resource control, the federal goverment would have just taking a giant step in the right direction.

Dont be too confident in your belief. Ojukwu fought a territorial war against alied forces & he was blockaded & starved to submission. Niger Delta is a different ball game. Usa with all its might & greatness could not defeat the vietcons after many years of protracted warfare & they were finally forced to pull out in shame!! The ND even has a more treacherous jungle, islands, rivers & mangrooves. A perfect environment for guerilla warfare!! What do you think makes these guys to appear so confident & confrontational? Because they know that nature is in full support of them!!!

That's human nature for you and greed. And it always counter-productive on the long run. It's how a lot of folks would rather scrounge for meagre handouts - rather than get a job and earn far more, while improving their self-development in the process. Everyone wants to share the oil proceeds from that region and despite sharing it for over four decades at the expense of the owners, the whole country has stagnated for over four decades, with no developments whatsoever, while raising two generations of lazy people/thinkers. So what is the point? If they had done the right thing from the get-go - other places would have found ways to create wealth and the country's economy would be far more diversified right now due to the competitive nature of human beings.

You don't even have to turn every oil producing state into Abuja or maybe even Lagos...just target the oil producing communities in each state and make the host communities sharing their wealth with you happy. Itsekiris in Delta for example can be more than 500,000 in population and they produce a large percentage of the oil and gas in that state...it shouldn't be that difficult to fix that meagre population and their communities. Replicate the same thing in all oil producing communities in all the other states and make them happy. Once you do that - they won't complain that much. I believe those who are even benefiting the most from whatever meagre derivative they are giving them now are people who happen to be from the same state but don't even produce one drop of oil in their communities.

They just need to keep hoping these people don't discover the IRA tactics in guerrilla warfare cos if they ever do, Abuja won't be safe for the naij president. IRA put fear in everyone when they were around with their brazen bombings. They will tell you before hand that they will bomb a place in London and give the time and, the bomb will go off at the time they gave. They bombed everywhere including heavily fortified and protected Mi6 building in Vauxhall and they had to placate them with negotiations and a lot of concessions.

The human right activist that was killed Saro Wiwa's daughter is a contributor on the Guardian UK and I read her articles all the time. And there are crazy documentaries all over YouTube about how messed up those people are, despite feeding the whole country. How these have survived this long with how fbcked up the oil producing communities are, especially the riverine ones - is still a mystery to me. Then again, black people have a natural way of adapting to hardship.
Hmm. Most Nigerians hate to see anyone talk like this. They will rather remain detached and are only so brother ed if flow of the oil money is interrupted like the militants are doing now.

Err, even if they want disintegration - why do you have a problem with it since Nigeria itself is a white man's creation that has never worked and will never work? You can't just pack all kinds of distinct people into one cesspit and give undue advantage to the least gifted and most savagely group, and expect progression.

I don't know about you, but personally if I were to turn back the hands of time and change things, I prefer the Ijebu kingdom my forebears built in isolation and thrived in, than the quagmire that cesspit is. At least they were able to build their own civilisation and massive commerce, which created wealth - without depending on anyone, not even the white man.

So, personally, I don't care if it's Biafra, Avengers, or Power Rangers - if they're fighting a cause that resonates with me and that I can relate to - I'll always cautiously support their cause. I used "cautiously" cos a lot of these naij people are clowns and certain things they do are for selfish reasons.
