Every body in lagos with hand craft is wicked. Tailor o, mechanic o, driver o, conductor o, generator repairer, Barber o, carpenter o, welder o and even market women. They are senseless as well.

few are honest. just ydae one bloody rewire told me i have to change my fuse box bla bla bla 25k. e think say i be fool. something dat costs 11-12k. all the lies nd scams dem dey do still never epp der life

Its because of the way people relate to them.
I was with my friend the other time when his mechanic came to collect balance for a job he did on his car.
My friend simply give him five thousand but the mechanic explained three specialist work on the car and five thousand can't even settle two(the actual balance he claimed was twelve thousand.)
My friend insisted thats all he has. The look of frustration on the mechanic face is enough for u to know why mechanic would never be honest with u.
I later call my friend and ask him, "Do you know that mechanic can kill u?" I continued,
"If another time u return the car to him for prepare, and he decided to tamper with a very delicate part of your car to get back at u, who will have the accident?!"
unfortunately, It is another innocent man that will have to pay him for my friend's wickedness.

Lol..this made me remember my brother's mechanic, he turned my brother to mobile ATM..I havent seen where a mechanic calls to wish his customers happy weekend..

It got to a point,my brother stopped picking his call,because anytime he picks his call,his car would develop fault..

It was the mechanic,who bought the car as scrap..

My advice,buy a good car,once it starts having complicated issues,sell it.

Not only Lagos here in calabar too. Some time around December 2014 I unfortunately rear ended a taxi cab here those familiar with the city would know they're mostly Audi 80s the back of the car squeezed like it was hit by a truck while mine just got a dent I used my fist to adjust. Anyway the guy took me to his mechanic who billed me this is where it gets funny he started writing everything and it amounted to 77k. As the one who was at fault I felt bad parting with that amount so I wrote him a cheque. I drove off something told me to pass by bedwell(spare parts heaven in calabar) I stopped and asked one Chuks how much an Audi bumper costs, he said 8k and he'll help me cast it, I was like seeing my face Chuks thought I was annoyed and started begging me that I should give him 6k last. I told him not to worry that he should follow me, the speed Wey I take rush reach that workshop Ehn, thankfully he hadn't cashed the cheque I said I didn't give him the right one. The demon immediately gave me back the cheque and said I forgot to add some parts bla bla bla. Na so I tear the cheque to pieces and asked Chuks to give them the list, Chuks did and it amounted to 18k, that was how everything was settled. So that guy would've scammed me of 59k simply because the soft and weak 'condom' car Audi always comes out looking worse for wear. Walahi mechanics no go make heaven

A whole lot of artisans have that mindset that how does being good to someone on the outside benefit me and my family. The same reason the song 'Who you EPP' is heavily trending; many Nigerians can relate to it. Too much good hasn't helped much people.

I can relate to this. I got a car and I didn't even enjoy it for a week before they helped me spoil it. Been spending endless money on it since last year. Now I've given one 15k since Monday morning to help me fix it, today is Saturday, he still hasn't done anything. I'm already prepared to sell the car. Lagos mechanics are evil.
